The Milan exposition(博览会)started on May 1st，and will run until October 31st．Its theme is“Feeding the planet，Energy for life”．They pay special attention {#blank#}1{#/blank#} food safety. There are 145 countries at the exposition and other food problems．You can see this theme from their pavilions(场馆)．

  Germany

 The country's pavilion is the largest one in the exposition．It is {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (称作)“Fields of Ideas”．People can go into the pavilion along a slope(斜坡)．The slope is made of different kinds of {#blank#}3{#/blank#} ／wud／．That makes it look like a German field with wild grass and flowers．Inside the pavilion，there are shows including how to {#blank#}4{#/blank#} /grəu/ different kinds of food．At the southwest {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (角落).

   China

Look at the pavilion，people can enjoy some plays．It has the theme“Hopeful farmland，the source of the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (第二)largest pavilion in the exposition．People used bamboo{#blank#}7{#/blank#} the roof of the building．This way，sunlight can shine through．In the pavilion，some shows are about the traditional ways of making food such as tofu and {#blank#}8{#/blank#} /ti:/．There are also shows about China's agriculture．

   I want to buy a pair of sports shoes for a long time. I had spend months saving up the money to buy them and I finally had e  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Last Saturday my friend Jake wanted to buy a new CD, so we decided to go shopping together.

   We took the bus into town and it was very c {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, so we had to stand all the way.Jake and I were talking when I suddenly n {#blank#}3{#/blank#}that my bag was open and my purse had gone! The bus had just stopped and there was a boy near me who was going  quickly towards the door. We thought he had stolen my money so we got off the bus and f {#blank#}4{#/blank#}   him. The boy started running and then Jake ran after him shouting “Stop! T {#blank#}5{#/blank#} !” It was like a scene out of a film! A policeman saw what was going on and managed to get the boy.

   The embarrassing thing was that when the policeman s  {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the boy, he didn't have my purse! He probably thrown it away before he was caught. The boy said we had made a mistake and we shouldn't blame（指责）him for the stolen purse. He explained that he had o  {#blank#}7{#/blank#}   started running because he was late for a meeting with friends. The policeman a  {#blank#}8{#/blank#}   him to go and I felt really stupid. I don't know whether he stole my purse or not as there was no proof（证据）. I wish I hadn't been so careless and had kept an e {#blank#}9{#/blank#} on my bag!

   I've lost my front door key and 60 pounds. I'm really fed up. Jake offered to lend me the money to buy the sports shoes, but I don't think it's f {#blank#}10{#/blank#}    to take it. It isn't his fault（过失）that I had my purse stolen!

    What will our world be like in 2050？We asked a group of experts to make their predictions about our future．

    By 2050 we will have"clever"{#blank#}1{#/blank#}．We won't have so many accidents，{#blank#}2{#/blank#} they will be able to communicate with each other．Cars will slow down by themselves or stop in{#blank#}3{#/blank#} situations．Also，our cars will {#blank#}4{#/blank#} on electricity or water．

    By 2050 our homes will be more eco﹣friendly （环保）．We will use solar （太阳的） energy，and we will clean and {#blank#}5{#/blank#} our water．There will be many more people in the world {#blank#}6{#/blank#}our houses will be smaller．Many houses will be underground and we will have {#blank#}7{#/blank#} to help clean，cook and do {#blank#}8{#/blank#}home shopping．

    We won't die!We will put our brains onto computers and live {#blank#}9{#/blank#}．The computers of the future won't look like machines．They'll look like humans．

    By 2050 there will be too many people on the earth and {#blank#}10{#/blank#}100 million people will be living on the moon and other planets．We will be able to travel to Mars and back in just three days．

    Walden is a quiet small town in England. Cars c{#blank#}1{#/blank#} go into the centre of the town, so it is very pleasant to walk around.

    Spend at least half a day v{#blank#}2{#/blank#} the museum. It's on a hill outside the town in a lonely old building. The museum brings history to life. You can even ride on a horse and cart(马车) in the street. I was r{#blank#}3{#/blank#} interested in a 1950s living room in the museum. It was just l{#blank#}4{#/blank#} my grandmother's house. I lived there when I was a c{#blank#}5{#/blank#} .

    When you are there, have a look around Walden too. If you start in the main square and follow the green signs, they will t{#blank#}9{#/blank#} you to the museum, and you will see lots of other interesting things o{#blank#}10{#/blank#} the way, too.
