All over the world the need for more laptops and computers increases each year. Networks have been part of our life. Probably everyone with a portable device （移动设备）has once logged on to a public WiFi network without paying for it, while they are having a coffee, on a train, in a shopping mall or at a hotel. However, is this kind of public WiFi network safe?

    Some networks are better protected than others because encryption （加密）methods are used. Therefore, they are safer than others. But a survey in 2015 showed that more than 950 million records were not protected, including addresses, emails, birth dates, phone numbers, passwords and so on. These open WiFi networks are really not safe, because it is very easy for hackers （黑客） to break into the operating system and get people's private information.

    Most smartphones and laptops, by themselves, search and connect to WiFi networks. They usually prefer a network with a connection that has been used before. Hackers' devices are able to record these searches and look like the trusted WiFi networks. When these smartphones and laptops log on to the networks which are not real, hackers can easily steal their private information.

    So next time, when we want to use our laptops or our smartphones in public places which offer free WiFi networks, please think it twice or take safe measures before using them.

If we cut down our forests, a lot of plants and animals will disappear from the world, in a lot of places the new farmland will soon look like the old deserts, for example, crops will not grow there．What's worse, it will not rain very often, and the weather will get very hot．Perhaps the climate of the world will change, which will be dangerous for everyone in the world．That is why we must take care of our forests．

    Man has a big brain（大脑）. He can think, learn and speak. Scientist once thought that men are different from animals because they could think and learn. They know now that dogs, rats, birds can learn too. They are beginning to understand that men are different from animals because they can speak.

    Animals cannot speak. They make noises when they are afraid, or angry or happy. Apes（类人猿）can understand some things more quickly than men. One or two of them have learnt a few words. But they cannot put words together to make sentences. They cannot think as we do because they have no languages. The language is a wonderful thing. Man is able to build a modern world because he has language.

    Each child can speak his own language very well when he is four or five, but no animal learns to speak. How do children learn it? Scientists don't know. They only know that man can speak because he has the brain.

New App Helps People Remember Faces

    Large gatherings such as weddings and meetings can be socially Q flooded with people. Learning people's names only adds to the stress. A new facial-recognition app could come to the rescue, but experts suggest people should be careful while using it.

    The app, called SocialRecall, connects names with faces through smartphone cameras and facial recognition, avoiding the need for formal introductions. "It breaks down these social barriers we all have when meeting somebody, "says Barry Sandrew, who created the app and tested it at an event attended by about 1, 000 people.

    After receiving an invitation to download SocialRecall from an event organizer, the user is asked to take two selfies and sign in through social media. At the event, the app is active within a previously set geographical area. When a user points his or her phone camera at an attendee's face, the app identifies the person, displays the person's name, and links to his or her social media information. To protect Privacy, it recognizes only those who have agreed to use. And the app's creators say it automatically removes users' data after an event.

    Ann Cavoukian, a expert who runs the Privacy by Design Center of Excellence praises the app's creators for these protective measures. She added, however, that when people choose to share their personal information with the app, they should know that "there may be unexpected results down the road with that information being used in another situation that might come back to bite you."

    The start-up project has developed the app for people who suffer from prosopagnosia, or "face blindness, "a condition that prevents people from recognizing people they have met. To use this app, a person first receives an image of someone's face, from either the smartphone's camera or a photograph, and then tags it with a name. When the camera spots or recognizes that same face in real life, the previously entered information is displayed. The collected data are stored only on a user's phone, according to the team behind the app.
