You may think there is nothing but sand in the desert of the world, but it is not true. In the desert we can{#blank#}1{#/blank#} stones. We can see hills, too. There is a little rain in the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} , but it is not  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}  for most plants.
　　The animals are{#blank#}4{#/blank#} to the desert people in many ways. The desert people eat the meat and drink the milk of the animals. They use their skins to  {#blank#}5{#/blank#}  shoes, water bags and even tents(帐篷). They use the camels(骆驼) for {#blank#}6{#/blank#} things.
The people of the desert have to keep {#blank#}7{#/blank#}  from places to place. They must always look for grass or desert plants for their animals. They usually live in the tents. When there is mo more food for their animals, they take down their tents, put them on the camels and move to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} place. The desert people are very  {#blank#}9{#/blank#} . No man in the desert would ever refuse to help the people in {#blank#}10{#/blank#} and give them food and water

    I packed, and was ready to leave for my two-day trip. I had been busy with my work. I had made p{#blank#}1{#/blank#} for the trip for the last few days， and I expected to get r{#blank#}2{#/blank#} for several days. As I got into the car to leave, my mind flew to my kids.

    How to keep in touch with your kids when you're busy or far away is a dilemma(两难的问题) many fathers have. Men like to focus special attention on one thing for a long p{#blank#}3{#/blank#}, but this can lead to trouble. Moving from work to family isn't always an easy thing.     I was moved when I heard these words. What I had never thought was that a small thing had a big influence on my kids. It proved(证明) that they were in my heart. And distance (距离) couldn't s{#blank#}8{#/blank#} them from their father. To my satisfaction， they feel “love” of their father. This v{#blank#}9{#/blank#} experience encouraged me to continue to do the small things to be a responsible father.

    As fathers get much busier and have to work longer hours, they usually pay l{#blank#}10{#/blank#} attention to the small things. Don't miss the good chances to let your kids see how important they are.

    Take a moment to do a small thing for your kids. It won't s{#blank#}11{#/blank#} small to them.

    At the present time, more and more people love travelling. It's a very good w{#blank#}1{#/blank#} of getting to know new people and cultures and acquiring（获得）experiences. It helps travellers g{#blank#}2{#/blank#} a lot. Travel can make our minds become much w{#blank#}3{#/blank#}.

    But travel does more than all that. It can also make us more creative. In recent years, some professors have been doing r{#blank#}4{#/blank#} on what many people have already learned from travel experiences. They believe that spending time a{#blank#}5{#/blank#} has affected people's mind. For example, they found that the students who lived in foreign countries for a longer period were better at s{#blank#}6{#/blank#} problems creatively than those who did not. If you stay in the same place, you can't experience new sights, new smells, new sounds and new cultures. All these can w{#blank#}7{#/blank#} up your mind and make it more active . H{#blank#}8{#/blank#} , that doesn't mean the more places you've been, the more creative you'll become. Another group of professors have been doings{#blank#}9{#/blank#} research. They found the people who often travelled from one place to another didn't have enough time to immerse（使……沉浸）t{#blank#}10{#/blank#} in a new place and a new culture. They weren't as creative as the people who spent the time really getting to know a place. You have to interact with the places you go to and then you can benefit from it.

    I want to be a teacher {#blank#}1{#/blank#} I grow up. I got the idea because of my mother. She is a university teacher. It seems that she isn't very busy. She only needs {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(go) to work for two days in a week. She can get up late and go home very early, much earlier {#blank#}3{#/blank#} me.

    Mr Jenkins has several big shops in the city. He's very rich but he does his best{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(pay) the persons who work in his shops less. And they all hate him.

    Several months ago a young woman borrowed thirty thousand dollars from him. But she couldn't return the money to him in time. He went to her and made her {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(give) her ring to him which cost more than fifty thousand dollars. He put it into his wallet and went home happily. But when he got to the bus stop, the bus{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(leave). He hurried to get on and left his wallet outside. He didn't find it until he got home. He hurried{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(make) promise, “If someone finds my wallet and returns it to me, I{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(give) half the money to him.”

    An old woman who{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(wait) for another bus that day found the wallet. She sent it back to Mr Jenkins. But he changed his mind.

    “There are two rings in my wallet,” said Mr Jenkins, “

    I won't give half the money in my wallet to you until you return the other ring to me.”

    “I {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(see) only a ring in the wallet,” the old woman said and took the man to a judge and told him what {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(happen) to them. The judge said to Mr Jenkins, “I'm sure you have lost a wallet in which there are two rings and some money. But there is only one ring in this wallet. I{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(not think) it's yours. Wait for some days. Perhaps someone will be able to return your wallet to you.”

    Then the judge turned to the old woman and said, “Take the wallet home. If the loser doesn't go to get it back in three days, it{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(belong) to you.”
