How did we help to save our earth this week? Let me tell you. First, my family tried to save{#blank#}1{#/blank#} . We never left the lights on when leaving the rooms. We turned off the TV when {#blank#}2{#/blank#} was watching it. Mum only used cold water in the washing machine. Second, we started {#blank#}3{#/blank#} this week. We tried to write on both sides of our paper, not just on one side. We also {#blank#}4{#/blank#} our rubbish into different bags. Mum kept the plastic shopping bags from the supermarket to use them {#blank#}5{#/blank#} rubbish bags. Third, my family started to save water. We stopped {#blank#}6{#/blank#} long baths and had short showers{#blank#}7{#/blank#}We washed the toilet with used water. Mum and dad used less water to do the washing. My sister and I didn't leave the tap running when we{#blank#}8{#/blank#} our teeth. At last, mum and dad began to save gas. Mum used to drive us to school, but now my sister and I started riding our bikes to school. It is{#blank#}9{#/blank#} work but good exercise. This week dad and a few of the people in his company also started to go to work in one car and share the costs.
These are great ways {#blank#}10{#/blank#} protect our environment.

    Long long ago, there was a small village in the Middle East. In the village there was {#blank#}1{#/blank#} old man called Sthira. He lived by himself. His only son had gone far away to study. Sthira's friends {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(wonder) whether his son would return, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}Sthira always said, "Whatever happens, happens for good.”

    One day the old man's son returned and the villagers were very happy for Sthira. He thanked the villagers and said {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (polite),"Whatever happens, happens for good.” However, later, Sthira's son broke his {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. Once again the villagers came to visit him and once again the old man thanked {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (they) and said, "Whatever happens, happens for good." Some of the villagers were surprised {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(hear) this. Why? What was good? His son's leg got badly hurt!

 After a few days, the army came to the village and forced all the young men to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the army. When they found his son had a {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (break) leg, they left him behind. Once again, all the villagers came to congratulate him on his {#blank#}10{#/blank#} luck, like always, the old man was still thankful to them and said. “Whatever happens, happens for good.”

    It was not long that I learned how important happiness was to life.

    On that day I went with my mum to the bank. I was bored. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (突然), a man dressed in old clothes caught my eyes. He was sitting between the doors of two factories. He was homeless, I was not {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (感兴趣的), for I had seen many like him before.

    “ Well, Sarah, sometimes food and clothes aren't the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (最) important things. We need happiness, too.”

    That man must care enough about music to buy a radio {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (代替) of food or clothes. I soon realized that happiness is the key to life. Without it, there's nothing to look forward to.

    It was Mr. Hill's birthday. He was one hundred {#blank#}1{#/blank#}old and many people {#blank#}2{#/blank#}to his birthday party. A reporter came to the party and ask him a few {#blank#}3{#/blank#}."Many people want to know how you keep {#blank#}4{#/blank#}," the reporter said, "Could you {#blank#}5{#/blank#}us about  it " "That is because I{#blank#}6{#/blank#}get up at six in the morning," said Hill."And have three {#blank#}7{#/blank#} a day and {#blank#}8{#/blank#} drink alcohol(酒)" "Really? said the reporter, "my uncle also did the {#blank#}9{#/blank#},and he only lived to {#blank#}10{#/blank#} eighty.     My name is Anna King and I come from a small town called Madison in Wyoming in the center of the USA. When I was twenty, I {#blank#}1{#/blank#}to the east coast (东海岸), to a town just south of New York, and started a(n){#blank#}2{#/blank#} in a big store.     "No," I answered. "You asked me that when we {#blank#}10{#/blank#}in a store thousands of (数以千计的) kilometers away, near New York" Then both of us laughed.
