In America, the school life is not easy for us students. There are so many rules we have to follow. When we start school, we get a rule book. There are always teachers looking out for people who are breaking the rules and prefects (长官) are everywhere too.

    The most rules are in the classroom and in the hallways. For example, you can't run or dance around in the hallways. We can't put our bags everywhere in the hallways.

    You can't eat or drink in the classroom or the hallways. Prefects watch you, They can give out duty slips (cleaning the dining hall for about 2 hours).

    If you make mistakes, you will get a detention. You may have to do some work for school. A detention is the most painful. You have to do a lot of tiring and boring things. There are rules for students out of school as well. Boys should not buy take away food in the street if they wear the school uniforms. The school also expects good behavior on public transport and in public places.

A cleanup can be a one-time event. It doesn't have to be held very often or last for a long time. If you like you can keep on the activity by moving the cleanup from one place to another. 

Sharing the work—letting people do different jobs that interest them and making each new cleanup a fresh chance for volunteers.

Make sure your project is realistic (可行的). It's a good idea to start with a project that can be finished in one afternoon. Don't start a large project at the beginning because it is difficult to finish.

No matter your cleanup project is a one-time event or a year-long one, don't forget to celebrate the results. Take photos and videos, then put them on the Internet and write thank-you letters to those who helped. Making a meal in the end can make volunteers look forward to working together again.

Yushu, Qinghai Province, is one of the living places for black-necked cranes(鹤). Cranes have very long necks and their necks are black. That's why they are called black-necked cranes. Cranes travel very far every year. Cranes spend about 5 months in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (高原).

Starting in March, black-necked cranes will fly back to Qinghai. There are lakes and marshes (沼泽), perfect for them to live in. Year after year, black-necked cranes may fly to other places, but they always come back to the plateau areas.

Their life is difficult, because they don't have enough food and the weather changes very often. Black-necked cranes have a very small population. They are under first-class state protection in China. Local people treat the birds with love. In local tradition, they are a symbol of good luck, so they are very popular.

It is not hard to get along with these wild animals. Just give them a little more space. They can have a bigger chance to increase quickly. People in Qinghai are working very hard to make sure the black-necked cranes live better.

 Read aloud. Sometimes it's easier to find problem with spelling, word usage, and grammar when we read aloud. Reading aloud helps us not only find out our problems but also develop our writing.
