Once upon a time, there lived a woodman(樵夫) in a village. One day, he went to the forest to cut wood. He worked very hard. At midday, his cart (马车) was full and he felt thirsty(口渴的), so he decided to go back home. On his way home, he saw a teahouse. He stopped his cart and walked into the teahouse. Before he could take a cup of water, he found his wood burning. He shouted, "Oh, no! My wood is on fire!"
"What can I do?" the man thought. Soon he took his cup, rushed out of the door, and poured the water on the fire. However, instead of being put out, the fire got bigger and bigger.
The man was very sad. A passer-by(过路人) saw that and said, "How can you put out the fire with a cup of water? You' re just making useless efforts."
This story is used to say that the effort is too small to solve the problem. In fact, we should choose proper ways to solve problems.
