①Franz Schubert was a music giant (巨匠). He wrote several symphonies (交响乐) and operas, about600 songs, and had many other musical works.

②Schubert was born in a musical family in Vienna on January 31, 1797. His father was a teacher, and he taught young Schubert to play the violin. One of Schubert's brothers also gave him piano lessons. Schubert was really good at writing all kinds of music. Schubert started working at his father's school in1814, but he didn't like teaching. So he spent most of his free time writing music. During that time, he wrote his first full symphony and opera. He also wrote many famous songs.

③In 1818, Schubert gave up teaching to make music full time. It was a good change. People liked his music, and they even paid him to write music for them. Schubert finally made money from his musical works, but they didn't make him rich.

When I was walking back home at around 12：15 pm during my lunch break one day，an apple came flying toward me. It landed just before my feet. I was surprised and thought I was very lucky not to get hit by it. 

The apple was thrown over the fence by a school student. I live opposite a school. A wall separates my apartment building from the school. 

Thinking it was a one﹣off experience，I told my friends，and we laughed about it. 

Then，the week after，I was walking along exactly the same spot at exactly the same time and bam!Another apple came over. This time it landed on the roof of a shed（棚屋）

"Is it my destiny（命运） to get hit by an apple？"

Last week I was walking back home. I checked my phone. It was 12：15 pm. I kept thinking about those two times before when I'd seen an apple thrown over the wall. But suddenly，my thoughts were interrupted by ANOTHER flying apple!This one was a big one. Only one bite（一口） had been taken out of it

Enough was enough. Someone could be really hurt by these apples. Did the student（s）not realize that people live across the wall？Or do they not care？

I told my friend about it. "You should just throw the apple back over the wall. That will teach them，"my friend suggested. But I don't want to play that "game". As they say，an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. Besides，I might end up hurting someone when I throw it back. 

Maybe I'll call the school and let them know. The student（s）responsible need to know that they might end up hurting someone if they keep throwing their waste. What's more，waste belongs in the bin

I moved here three years ago, and because of my business, I needed to fly both to China and the United States often. When I traveled alone, I felt lonely because I didn't speak English well. I made a decision that I had to learn English well.

I came to Rita Colina's class at the Chinese Community Center in Houston. Before the class, I always walked away when I met any foreigner. It's completely different now. I try to communicate with Americans in English by myself. Now I like to talk to foreigners. Not only the life becomes more flexible, but also I really love to live here.

I learn English in four ways:

First of all, I listen to what the teacher teaches in class. Then I keep speaking during the class.

Second, I do my homework right away when I get home. I memorize at least five vocabulary words every day.

Third, I listen to American radio stations, and I watch the TV news and other American programs with my family every day. I ask them whatever I don't know.

Finally, I go to American stores as often as possible so I will have more chances to learn more new words, and find any chance to talk to Americans in English.

Anyway, the most important thing is not to be afraid to open your mouth. It doesn't matter even though you speak incorrectly. It's the key, you know.

Who is the greatest teacher in Chinese history? Many people will think of Confucius, whose birthday was September 28. Although he lived over 2, 000 years ago, people still remember and respect him for his contribution to the education today.
