The Spring Festival is one of the most important holidays in China. Last year,I had the chance (机会) to1 it with a family of one of my dear Chinese friends in a little town in China's Guizhou Province. The2 was interesting. 

Before my arrival, my friend's family had cleaned their whole house,and done their shopping. They were very hospitable. My friend showed me around the town every day. 

On the New Year's Eve,I enjoyed a big meal with my friend's family. We watched a(n)3 show on TV. As I 4 understand Chinese well,the time seemed to pass very slowly. When midnight came,everyone in the house shouted in5 . 

Every morning in the following days,I6 for the sounds of firecrackers (鞭炮) as early as 5 a. m. My friend told me that people were chasing off evil spirits (赶走邪灵). He took me to visit 7 relatives during the day. We were usually invited to stay for dinner. We once happened to see a lion dance on the street. Every business owner was happy if the "lions" stopped by their shop 8 that usually means good luck will come. 

Before I left,my friend's parents handed me a red envelope with some money in it. His father said it was to9 me on the road，bring me good luck and wish me a happy new year. It felt like I was part of the10 ,though I couldn't chat (聊天) with the parents at all. 

Once, I was really shy. When I was 12, my teacher told us to record (录音) ourselves 1 our families. When I listened back, I heard my voice was just like a little kid's. That made me very shy and I 2 took part in activities from then on. 

Years later, I became a teacher. On the first day, my hands could not help but sweat (出汗). My arms was trying to stop me from 3 the door. Although I was a little nervous (紧张的), I opened the 4 slowly. Suddenly, all the students laughed. Then I felt it was a bad 5 to be a teacher. They did not seem to mind me at all. 6 class, a little girl walked up to me and asked, "Could you help me read this? I like your voice!" she said. I didn't feel shy any more and my body felt as 7 as a bird. Perhaps this was not such a bad idea after all. 

Besides, there was one more thing that surprised me. I 8 why the classroom was so clean every day—before leaving, the students would clean the classroom. Actually 9 did really well. Looking back at it now, I would say these students gave me 10 experience of my life. 

In the future, I want to create a space for shy people like me to shine. 

Tom was a shy student. He never put his hand up to answer {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (question) in class. He was afraid of making mistakes. Nothing changed until {#blank#}2{#/blank#} excellent teacher, Mary, came to our class. 

One morning, Tom {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (ask) to answer a question, but he gave a wrong answer. After class, he cried {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (sad). Mary saw that and decided {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(help) him. She took out a box which was filled {#blank#}6{#/blank#} erasers from the desk. 

"Look, Tom, " she said, standing beside {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(he), "I have something to show you. " She took out the erasers, one at a time, and put them on the desk. 

"See these erasers, Tom," she continued. "Do you know why they become {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(small) day by day than they used to be? That's{#blank#}9{#/blank#} we make mistakes. But we can erase(擦掉) them by erasers and try again. " Tom looked at Mary and smiled. Since then, he{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (know) that everyone may make mistakes. He should learn from them and try again.
