Something unexpected happenedin the summer of my eleventh year. The home I had grown up in burned to the groundin the middle of the night. Thankfully, my mom, dad, grandma, brothers and I escapedalong with my dogs. Yet, we had nothing but the night clothes we were sleeping in.I spent the rest of that night with a friend of my family. I tried unsuccessfullyto sleep in the bed in his house. I was too scared.

    The next day my mom brought me a few T-shirtsand pairs of jeans that another friend gave to her. One pair of them was too shortand the other pair was too long, but I didn't care. At least I had some clothesagain. My dad returned to our broken home to see what he could find. The only thinghe could save was my mom's rings.

    To spend the summery dad rented us a big houseon the same road as our old house had been. As we moved in, our friends and ourcommunity continued todonate (捐赠) all they could to help us to get back on our feet. There were moreclothes, furniture, food money, and even some books for me to read. Love was aroundus.

    Looking back now I am thankful for all we wentthrough that summer because it taught me so much about life, love and people. Itshowed me that when you have nothing left but love, for the first time you see thatlove is enough.

In a hanfu show in Changsha, Hunan, 20 models in beautiful hanfu won many people's hearts. They looked like they walked out of old Chinese paintings. The 20 sets of hanfu are a recreation(再现)of clothing in Yongle Palace murals (壁画). Zhang Zening made these clothes. 

Zhang Zening is from Nanjing. When she got to know about hanfu, she fell in love with it. She has great interest in hanfu. But Zhang found that some styles she liked were not available on the market. So she started to learn to design(设计) hanfu herself. 

In 2015, Zhang started to teach herself how to recreate hanfu. Zhang visited cities, studied museum murals and looked for information online to learn more about hanfu. Eight years later, Zhang recreated over 50 sets of hanfu from different times. She got ideas from murals in places like Yongle Palace in Shanxi, Fahai Temple in Beijing, Dunhuang in Gansu, and from paintings by Tang Bohu. 

The work is not     ▲     because Zhang always tries to make the clothes the same as those in murals and paintings. It takes about a month to recreate each hanfu set. In Zhang's eyes, recreating hanfu is not just about making a piece of clothing; it's also about learning about traditional Chinese culture. It helps her understand people from earlier times. Zhang finds it exciting to learn about the traditional culture.

Scott and his family are in a planting club. Scott plants trees 1 his parents on Earth Day every year. 

This year, Scott wants some of his classmates to 2 his family to plant trees on Earth Day. 3 he tells them about this. Tomorrow is Earth Day. Scott asks his classmates, "4 trees do you want to plant?""Well, all trees. They are good for the 5 , " Lily says. 

Then Jessie has a(n)6 . She says, "We can 7 some nice cards and stick(粘) them on the trees to let people know the importance of environment(环境的重要性). ""Great! Let's 8 it!" Scott's classmates 9 some words on the cards. They are very 10 . Because they can protect the environment by 11 trees. 

On Earth Day, Scott goes to the park with his parents and his 12 . Scott and his parents teach 13 to plant trees. And finally, they stick the 14 on the trees. They want more people to plant trees like them. And they 15 want people to know the importance of environment and protect the environment. What a meaningful activity!
