People have long believed in the positive effects of playing sports. However, is watching sports good for us too? To figure it out, a team of researchers from England did a study and found that sports viewing led to improved well-being. Watching popular sports like baseball has notable (明显的) effects on well-being. By saying well-being, we mean how well someone feels.
The research has shown that people who watch sports experience greater well-being than those who don't, and that this probably has relationship with the social aspects(方向) of watching sports.
Research carried out by a group at Anglia Ruskin University— led by Helen— used data(数据)from7,209 adults, aged 16-85, living in England who participated(参与) in the Taking Part Survey, a survey that has run since 2005.
People in the UK who attended a live sporting event in the last year are more satisfied with their lives and are less lonely than people who have not.
Can't support your team at the game? Watching sports on TV and online can also be good for your well-being. Research has shown that people who watch sports on TV or on the Internet are also less depressed than those who do not.
Those who watch sports are more likely to report higher feelings of life satisfaction than people who don't, no matter they watch sports in-person, on TV, or online.
