I went to a restaurant for lunch with my granddad yesterday, and when the starters (开胃菜) came, I got out my phone and began to take some photos of them. My granddad was very surprised, and he laughed at me."Food is for eating!"he said."And why {#blank#}1{#/blank#} you {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(take) photos of it now?"Then I was surprised. Didn't he know why?

All my friends always take photos of food in restaurants when they go out to eat, and the photos {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(share) on social media soon. When we're deciding which restaurant to go to, we look at photos people post on social media. Before I go to a restaurant, I also look at photos on social media {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(see) the food on the menu. So, when I  {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(arrive) at the restaurant, I know what I want to eat.

Yesterday, my granddad {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(choose) mushroom (蘑菇) soup for his starter because he likes soup, and I ordered fruit salad because it looked delicious in a photo I saw on my phone. Both dishes were very good.

"Granddad! We {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(finish) our starters already. Now! Look at the menu for the main course(主菜)."He couldn't {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(decide) between a fish dish and a beef dish."Would you like to see some photos of them?"I asked. He laughed again."OK!"he said.

After the meal, I asked granddad," {#blank#}9{#/blank#} you {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(use)photos on social media to choose your food next time you eat out?""Maybe,"he said."If I'm with one of my grandchildren!"

Many of us have ever loved the two toy bears — a brown Teddy bear and a yellow Winnie-the-Pooh bear. The two toy bears come from real stories in life.

In 1902, Theodore Roosevelt, President of the USA, went hunting (打猎). The hunting dogs found an old bear in the forest near Washington DC and the guide asked the president to shoot (射杀) it. But President Roosevelt disagreed. A cartoonist drew a cartoon showing that the president refused to shoot the bear. Soon people named the bear Teddy which was Theodore's nickname (昵称).

In 1913, a captain named Harry Colebourn paid twenty dollars for a yellow bear which was born in Canada. The captain's hometown, Winnipeg, was the origin (起源) of the bear's name. When World War I began, the captain went to France. Winnie was sent to London Zoo. Because of its lovely look, the bear became popular with children.

How can we tell whether a drink is healthy or not? Recently, Shanghai began to grade drinks with four levels? A, B, C, and D．Level A and B drinks are healthier, while level C and D drinks have much sugar and fat.

The more, the better?

Some students have energy（能量）drinks before doing sports or taking exams. Energy drinks have a lot of sugar and caffeine（咖啡因）. They could make one feel more excited. But remember not to drink too much at a time.

The World Health Organization（世界卫生组织）says children should have no more than 25g sugar a day.

Are sports drinks necessary?

·Having sports drinks sometimes is OK. They give us vitamins and minerals（矿物质）.

·There is no need for them when you do sports for less than two hours.

·For people with heart problems, it is best not to have sports drinks.

Taking Root.

How many kinds of plants are there in the world? Lucy Braun wondered that as a child. She showed great interest in plants at a young age. She often had energetic walks with her family through the nearby woods. Some plants and wildflowers seemed to shout at her with their wildcolours. Others hid behind rocks.

Lucy looked at the shapes of leaves as she walked in the woods. She kept a record of what she saw. She also learnt to draw what she saw. Then she could compare all kinds of plants. Later, Lucy grew more and more interested in botany, the study of plants.

Branching Out

At university, Lucy took classes in geology, or the study of rocks and minerals. Her work with geologists changed how she looked at the natural world. She continued her studies in botany as well. Lucy also took classes in ecology (生态学). Lucy believed that plant life in some areas was able to move to other places over time.

In Full Bloom

In 1917, Lucy began to teach botany at a university. She lived in a house near the woods. Lucy collected plants from all around the country. She took many photos of them, too. Colour photography was still new then. Because of that, people enjoyed her lessons and photos a lot.

Later in her life, Lucy wrote many field guides. In 1950, she published her most important guide. It describes the plants in the forests across the country. Ecologists still use it to study changes in the forests over time.

Today, Lucy has a few plants named after her. One of them is Lucy Braun's snakeroot, which is now in danger. Lucy's work in the protection of nature may help prevent its disappearance.

Lucy Braun lived to be 81. In her years as a botanist, Lucy collected nearly 12,000 plants!

Yu Chuanya is a ballet（芭蕾舞）dancer from Shenyang. She began learning ballet at the age of 4. With a strong interest in it, she took dance classes three times a week. "In fact, my physical condition was not good. But I loved ballet, and I never thought of giving up. My mother always supports（支持）me. She encourages me to face challenges and have confidence in myself. My father is also supportive of me," Yu says.

In 2005, Yu went to study at Beijing Dance Academy. She put a lot of hard work into learning and practicing ballet. After she graduated（毕业）, she returned to Shenyang and joined Liaoning Ballet Troupe.

Since then, ballet dancing has become an important part of Yu's life. She has performed the lead roles in many ballets. She has also been invited to perform in Russia, Canada and South Africa.

Eight Heroines is one of Yu's favorite ballets. It is a story of eight women soldiers（士兵）who gave up their lives to protect our country. Yu performed the lead role, Leng Yun. To do her best to show the feelings of the character, Yu read lots of information to learn about the story of Leng. Eight Heroines has been staged（上演）many times since 2014. In 2017, it was staged in Russia and people there said it was great.

"Performers are the communicators of culture. I believe we Chinese ballet dancers will perform more ballets in the future to better tell the stories of China on the world stage," Yu says hopefully.

The Golden Snub-nosed Monkey(金丝猴) is a special kind of monkey that mainly lives high up in the mountains in China, Vietnam and Burma. They have a flat nose that points up, which is really two nostrils(鼻孔). This helps them breathe well in the thin air up high in the mountains. Their fur is golden and very thick, which not only keeps them warm in the cold mountain weather but also helps them go well with their forest homes.

These monkeys like to live together in groups with a big, strong male monkey as their leader. The leader protects the group and guides them to food. They communicate with each other through sounds and body movements.

Golden Snub-nosed Monkeys spend most of their time in the trees. They love to climb trees and jump from branch to branch. They are very good at moving around in the trees. They eat mostly plants like leaves and fruits, but they also eat insects and small animals when available. Sadly, these animals are not common to see because of human activities. Many trees are cut down every year. We need to help protect these monkeys and their homes.

These monkeys are very beautiful and important for the mountains. They are a symbol of nature's beauty and a reminder of our duty to protect the environment. By learning about them and helping to keep their homes safe, we can make sure that people in the future can also see these wonderful animals that live in the mountains.
