In the United States, Mother's Day is a holiday on the second Sunday in May. It is a day when children give their mothers {#blank#}1{#/blank#} , presents and flowers.

One of the best ways to celebrate Mother's Day is to give your mother the day off. Let her {#blank#}2{#/blank#} while other members of the family do the housework.

Many families begin Mother's Day with breakfast in bed. Usually dad and the children will let mum sleep late as they go into the kitchen and get ready for the favourite meal. After the food is cooked, keep everything nice on a plate. With spring here, the children can pick up the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} flower from the garden outside. When everything is ready, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} carry the plate and mum's favourite books or newspapers up to her bedroom.

Many families take mum out to her favourite restaurant for a meal. It's a good day to let her see what a {#blank#}5{#/blank#} family she has.

When they get older, children want to buy more and more things. They want to buy things that are more expensive than sweets. Then they h{#blank#}5{#/blank#} to work hard. They often wash the family car, cut the grass, walk the dog and cook dinner. Some jobs are good ways for children to get life skills. For e{#blank#}6{#/blank#}, they can learn to use a lawn mower(割草机) or how to cook. Of course, their parents help them first.
