There are lots of amazing places for people to imagine and expect in the world. But many people {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (encourage) to go into Cambridge.

I come from Cambridge, a beautiful city in the east of England. I have grown up there and experienced many {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (wonder) times. I have many good {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (memory) of it. In recent years, it develops {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (rapid) and has changed a lot. For this, more and more tourists take an interest in it.

Cambridge is 80 kilometers from London. London is in {#blank#}5{#/blank#}south of England. It has a population of about seven and a half million, so it is {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (big) and busier than Cambridge. It is about 2,000 years old, and it is famous {#blank#}7{#/blank#}Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and Tower Bridge. England {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (it) is part of an island. It owns rich tourism resources. Tourists like the mountain areas and beautiful lakes in the north, and the hills and pretty villages in the south. So it's really perfect for you {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (pay) a visit. It is never very hot in summer {#blank#}10{#/blank#}very cold in winter. So you can visit England any time of the year. Or it will be a pity in the rest of time.

Martin Strel is a swimmer, best known for swimming the world's big rivers. He was born in 1954. He taught himself to swim when he was six and became a professional (职业的) swimmer in 1978. Martin holds Guinness World Records for swimming the Danube River, the Mississippi River, the Yangtze River and the Amazon River. 

Of all his achievements, the greatest is his Amazon River swim. The Amazon is known as the largest and most dangerous river in the world. Several swimmers had tried to swim it, but all failed. Martin decided to go all out and make history. He wanted to show the world that people could achieve their dreams with hard work and perseverance (毅力). On April 7th, 2007, Martin Strel completed his Amazon River all the way from Atalaya (Peru) to the Atlantic Ocean at Belem (Brazil). He struggled (奋战) with the river for 66 days and swam 3, 274 miles in total. He became a worldwide hero. 

Many people still cannot believe what he has done so far, so that is why they sometimes describe him as "Fishman", "Human Fish" or even "the Craziest Man in the World". 

In 2009, American filmmakers produced a documentary (纪录片) called Big River Man. And the book, The Man Who Swam the Amazon, has been sold in many countries. It tells us an inspirational story of perseverance and hard work, which has encouraged many people. 

Martin doesn't swim for money. Instead, he swims to teach people about the importance of keeping water clean. 

Martin has always been looking for the challenges (挑战) of the impossible. What is his next?

When I was a kid, a tree grew in front of my home. At the age of 10, I was just tall enough to reach its lowest branch and lift myself into its embrace. I wasn't the only climber. Sometimes two or three of my friends would join me in the sycamore, or in the maple down the street. Climbing trees allowed us to enter another world. In fact, it was a world within a world: We took our imaginations with us into those heights, which by turns were a fortress, a pirate ship, a spaceship, or a mountain castle. 

In my small Maine town there are some lovely maples, lindens, and oaks. Their branches spread wide and they are strong enough for people to climb. But I have not yet seen a climber. Perhaps computer games have taken place of tree climbing, or maybe the activity went the way of monkey bars, which came to be viewed as too risky and have largely disappeared from playgrounds. 

It is a sad loss. I have always believed that, since low-hanging limbs provide no benefit to the tree, they must be meant for the child. Robert Frost understood this when he wrote: When I see birches bend to left and right, across the lines of straighter darker trees, I like to think some boy's been swinging them. My only disagreement with Frost is his inference that tree climbing is a gender-specific undertaking. Both boys and girls have what it takes to make a joyful ascent. 

The campus of the university where I teach is lovingly landscaped with all sorts of trees. During a recent walk, I grabbed a branch and a moment later I was sitting on it. Then the memories came flooding back: The old friends, the long view of my neighborhood, and finally, the reluctance to return to earth when the parental call to supper came. 

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't hear the student calling to me from below. He asked what I was doing. I didn't waste time on explanations. "Come on up, "I said. "The air's fine. "But he only laughed, and waved me off. He didn't know what he was missing.

"Stay-at home" Astronaut's Dream

Deng Qingming is a Chinese astronaut. He finally entered Tiangong Space Station by Shenzhou-15 in November, 2022 after 25 years' hard work. He is working with his teammates to carry out {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (task) in space. 

The hard-working student {#blank#}2{#/blank#}was born in a poor village has become an astronaut finally. When he was young, he used every minute {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (study) in his daily life. As a hard-working student, Deng joined the PLA Air Force in June 1984 and started to train {#blank#}4{#/blank#}a pilot(飞行员) at a flight college in Hebei Province. At the age of 31, Deng {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (choose) as one of the 14 first members of the PLA Astronaut Division. Deng kept {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (train) hard for a chance to fly into space until he had kidney stones(肾结石) in 2013. It was serious for astronauts because the standard for their health is high. He had to stop training to have operations. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} he suffered from the illness, he continued working for his dream. Whatever happened to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (he), he never gave up. 

In 2022, Deng's dream finally came true. At the time, he was 56 years old and {#blank#}9{#/blank#}last person of China's first astronauts to be sent into space. He had fought for his space dream all the time. He is a hero and so far, his story {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (influence) many Chinese people.
