I'm ready to do my first jump 10 months after a skydiving(特技跳伞) accident. I can't wait! That accident almost killed me and it made me stay in hospital for half a year. During the boring long days, I didn't feel happy to be alive (活着的). I was wondering how I could live without my favourite sport.

It all started on an evening after nine-to-five o'clock. I was sitting on the sofa when an ad (广告) came on the television— try skydiving. The next day, I went to the skydiving school in my town. At the end of the day's lessons, I knew I found the right sport for me.

I would never forget my first jump. Five of us walked to the runway and got into a plane. I. was afraid, but the others were talking and joking, and I started to feel a little relaxed. It was a beautiful, sunny day and the sun was just. going down. Soon it was time to jump. As I jumped from the plane, I shouted. But then everything became quiet. It was the most wonderful four minutes of my life.

From the first jump, I was hooked. I started spending all my free time skydiving. It became my reason for living. Things were going really well. Then an accident happened on my 104th jump. I broke my both legs, right arm and nose. I stayed in hospital for six months, but I. still couldn't forget skydiving.

My mother couldn't understand why the only reason I wanted to get better was to go skydiving again. But for me, skydiving is life, and life is skydiving.

①We all know students don't have much money to buy expensive(昂贵的)presents. So as students, what can you do if(如果)the birthdays of your parents, teachers or friends are coming? Here are some ideas for you. 

②On your father's or your mother's birthday, you can sing a song or write a letter to your dad or mum, and you can also draw a picture or cook a big dinner for them. 

③You can give a beautiful card to your teacher on his or her birthday. On the card, you can write down some words of thanks and your love for the subject or the teacher. You can write down the favourite thing you learned in the teacher's class this year, too. 

④When your friend celebrates(庆祝)his or her birthday, you can make a nice toy for him or her by hand. If he or she likes movies, you can see a movie with him or her at home. If he or she likes sports, you can just play sports with him or her.

Did you have cereal(麦片) for breakfast this morning? If you did, you're not alone. Lots of people eat cereal for breakfast every day. In fact, cereal is popular all over the world. It all started with one man, Will Keith Kellogg. 

Will was born on 7th April 1860, in Battle Creek, Michigan. His first job was as a stock boy at the Battle Creek Sanitarium. A sanitarium is a special place that is a little like a hospital. People who are ill for a long time or who are getting over a serious illness can go there. Will had other jobs as he got older. But when he grew up, he became a manager of the sanitarium. His brother, John, was the chief doctor there. 

One big problem at the sanitarium was the food that the patients eat daily. The patients needed healthy food, but it was also important for the food to taste good. Will was trying to find a good food choice to take the place of the bread, but it wasn't going very well. Then, by accident, Will found something even better. He left some wheat to cook too long. When it was rolled out, it formed large, thin flakes. He asked his brother to serve it to the patients, and they loved it! In fact, they liked it so much that they wanted to eat the flakes even after they left the sanitarium. So in 1894, the creation of Kellogg's Corn Flakes came out. Before long, Kellogg's breakfast cereal was popular in other countries too. Today, there are many kinds of breakfast cereals. But it all started with one man and one idea. 

Will did more than just create breakfast cereal. His company made a lot of money. But he always shared it with others generously. He used much of his money to help children. He also helped some charities(慈善机构) with his money. Will Kellogg died in 1951. But his most famous invention is as popular as ever.
