A lovely rabbit, a cute hamster, some colourful fish, a strange-looking turtle or a snake...What kind of pet would you like? Lots of kids love animals and dream of having a pet.

    But not every family can have a pet. So, in many Western countries such as America, Britain and Australia, primary and middle school classes have their own pets. Looking after a pet is not as easy as you may think! Fish and turtles need clean water and the right food. Hamsters and rabbits need fresh vegetables and a warm place to sleep. Even little mice need good care! What would you feed a pet mouse? How about snakes?

    Class pets teach kids about nature and being responsible. Sometimes the pets have babies. It's very exciting but it also means having more animals to take care of!

    Students take turns to take care of their class pets. Every week the pets have a new “mum and dad” to look after them.

    You may want to know what happens to the class pets during school holidays. At the end of term, the teacher chooses a responsible student. This lucky student keeps the pets at his or her home for the holidays.

Chinese clay art is {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (广泛) known and popular all over the country. Now many kids learn to make it in schools or even in {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (公开的) places. To make Chinese clay art, the Chinese shape the clay by hand into things, such as cute children or {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (生气勃勃的) characters from a Chinese fairy tale or historical story. After the things get dry in the air, they are fired at a very high {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (热，高温) and then polished and painted. It takes several weeks to {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (完成) everything. Although they look so small, they look very real. These small pieces of clay art show the love that all Chinese people have for life and beauty.

Do you know a leftover mystery box（剩菜盲盒）? They are boxes with food in some stores. When food like meat，vegetables and fruit is near（接近） the expiration date（保质期），stores put it in mystery boxes and sell them，so the boxes are at very good prices. 

My mother always buys leftover mystery boxes in the store at 5: 00 p. m. Then my family eat the food in the box in the evening. We all like the leftover mystery boxes. My mother thinks they can help us save money. The same food in the mystery box is only ¥9. 9，but is ¥30 in the food store. My father thinks buying this box is good for the environment（环境）. And I like the box because it is interesting. It's great fun to open the box and see what's in it. 

But it's not always good. You don't know what food to eat and sometimes the food in the box is not healthy.

①Work is helpful to health. Scientists find that the hard-working people live longer than those who have no jobs. Some studies tell us that the jobless are in poorer health than job-holders. The women who have jobs are healthier than housewives. 

②    ▲        It is because work keeps people busy, away from feeling lonely. Researches show that people feel unhappy and worried when they have nothing to do. The happiest people are those who are busy. Many high achievers who love their jobs feel they are the happiest when they are working hard. They work as a bridge between their dream and reality, so they have energy every day. By work, people get to know each other. By taking part in all kinds of activities, they find friendship and warmth. This is helpful to health. The loss of work means the loss of everything. It makes people down and it will cause more illnesses. 

③Besides, work makes one feel hopeful and proud. When a writer finishes his writing or a doctor successfully operates on a patient or a teacher sees his students grow, they are very happy. 

④From the above, we can come to a conclusion：the more you work, the happier and healthier you will be. 

Henry is going through a very hard time. His wife just passed away(去世). They always loved and cared about each other, so he feels hopeless and sad about everything in his life. For months, Henry sits in his house, doing nothing.

One of Henry's neighbours, an old woman named Lisa, sees him from her yard one day. She doesn't see him outside in days! Then she asks him to come closer to the fence(篱笆) next to her house.

"Hello, Henry! A nice day, isn't it? Just look at this fence. It is falling apart. You are a strong man. Can you help me fix(修补) this fence?" Lisa asks.

Henry is actually angry inside. He is the one who needs help right now. He thinks the old lady is rude. But she is old and cannot fix the fence herself, so he agrees.

Henry works on the fence for days. When he finishes, she thanks him. Henry smiles for the first time in months.

"What a wonderful job you have done! Could you please paint it for me?" Lisa says to him.

Henry cannot believe she is asking for more help. "Why does she ask for another job? What I need now is rest, not work," he says to himself. Anyway, he agrees again. Every day he works hard painting the fence in the hot sun. As their neighbours pass by, they all tell Henry what a beautiful job he has done. Hearing this, Henry feels quite happy.

Several days later, Henry feels that life is still hopeful. He finally understands that Lisa isn't being rude. She knows that staying busy can help people forget their sorrow. So she keeps asking him for help to make him get busy. He helped her, but she truly saved him.
