Hua Weiguang took up taking photos after he retired. He used to be {#blank#}1{#/blank#} teacher. Ten years ago, Hua found some people planting trees in his hometown, Horqin in Inner Mongolia. And then he started to take photos {#blank#}2{#/blank#} them.

In Hua's photos, many things can {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(find), from the sandstorms to young trees, as well as the people who fight against desertification(沙漠化).

It was difficult {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(plant) trees here. The workers had to cover {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(them) or their mouths would be full of sand. They wore hats, {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(scarf) and goggles(护目镜) all the time. In summer, it was so hot {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the workers had to lie down on the ground next to their cars to cool off. They also had to eat their lunch with the blowing sands. What about sunstroke(中暑)? Well, they took some medicine, {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(drink) a little water and then continued working.

Now with the improvement of the environment, animals are living there {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(healthy). Without Hua's photos, no one would believe that this change is possible.

So far, China's forest {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(increase) by over 70,000,000 hectares(公顷). One tree after another, these people built a green Great Wall.

One New-year morning, Edward's father gave him two dollars. He left the house happily. He wanted to buy some books. On the street, he saw a poor family, the father, mother and three children. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}, and they were shivering(颤抖).

"Happy New Year!" Edward said to the man. The man shook his head. He couldn't understand English. But he pointed to his mouth. It seemed he was saying, "We have nothing to eat."Edward understood. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, and he gave one dollar to the man, and the other to his wife. Their eyes were full of gratitude! They said something in their language. It probably meant, "Thanks a lot." 

When Edward came home, his father asked what books he had bought. 
"{#blank#}3{#/blank#}," said Edward, "I gave my money to some poor people. They seemed to be very hungry. I can buy my books until next New Year." 

"My dear boy," said his father, "Here are some books. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. I saw you give the money to the poor family. Be ready to help the poor and every year will be a happy New Year to you."

As 16﹣year﹣old Torriell Norwood drove through Florida，last February，the laughter and chatter from the four teenage girls inside her car quickly gave way to screams.As they came near to a crossing，sending their car sailing into the yard of a nearby home，coming to a stop only when it hit a tree.

Had the accident happened a few weeks earlier，she might not have known what to do.But just the day before，Norwood，had earned her CPR certificate by learning on her own.Kneeling on the lawn and looking down at her dying friend，Norwood knew she had precious little time to practice what she'd learned.

She started pumping Simmons's chest with her interlocked fingers and breathing into her friend's mouth in the hope of filling her lungs with the kiss of life.After quite a while，Simmons began coughing and taking quick deep breaths for air.The CPR had worked!Soon，the ambulance arrived and rushed Simmons to the hospital.And then she heard how her best friend had saved her life."I am not shocked，"She will always help any way she can."

One day, Miss Wang tells her students to write a composition (写作文)，My Father.Bob writes the composition first and then helps his mother cook. But Eric goes to play with his dog, Coco.When it's time for dinner, he comes back.After dinner, he plays with his phone. Before going to bed, Eric remembers(记起) his composition.But he has no time to do it. He thinks of a way, "I can copy(抄袭) Bob's".

The next day, Miss Wang asks Eric,"Why your    ▲     is the same as Bob's?"

Eric answers"We have the same father."

On a winter afternoon, I was walking in a garden in the warm sunshine. I felt warm and 1 .

Suddenly, an apple tree caught my eye. I walked 2 towards it, searching for a perfect apple. However, all the apples were red and big. I couldn't wait to pick one which was the 3 in my eyes. In order to enjoy it, I took a little bite, but bitterness(苦涩), quickly spread through my mouth. At this moment, I realized that beautiful 4 didn't mean the beauty inside and that the beauty inside was much more important than the outside. I walked to the dustbin and prepared to throw it away. After much hesitation(犹豫),I5 throwing it away. I thought it was chosen by me and I should eat it up though it was really 6 to eat. I must be responsible for my 7 .

After eating it up, I turned round to the apple tree,8 that since the beautiful apples didn't taste good, the ugly one must be delicious. When I got ready to pick the apple which I thought was delicious. Then, a boy rushed out behind me and picked the apple. I saw him eating the apple. I knew that it must be very delicious for his big 9 . I lost a delicious apple because of my hesitation.

Life is like picking apples. When we decide to do something, we should begin without any. hesitation or we may10 the chance.

Heroes are great. There are many heroes in the world,{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(包括) Mother Teresa. 

Mother Teresa was born in 1910. She{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(选择) to become a nurse when she was 18. Teresa trained in India and then she became a teacher in a school. She r{#blank#}3{#/blank#} she could do something to help them when she saw the people who lived on the streets and some were even {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (垂死的). Then she decided to take {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(照顾) of them. Teresa started to help the children who didn't have homes. She taught them how to become a nurse to help the s{#blank#}6{#/blank#} and the wounded. At the same time, she gave them some u{#blank#}7{#/blank#} advice on how to read and how to look after themselves. She m{#blank#}8{#/blank#} to do everything she could to help the poor and she never wanted anything for her work. Mother Teresa w{#blank#}9{#/blank#} the Nobel Prize in 1979 for her work. She died in1997 when she was 87. 

Mother Teresa is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (实在；的确) a hero. We should learn from her.
