The Chinese language has a history of 6,000 years. But Pinyin, which tells {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (we) how to read Chinese words correctly, is still young.

In 1958, Chinese linguist Zhou Youguang and his team made Pinyin. Before that, Chinese people used many other ways to show how to pronounce Chinese characters, but these ways couldn't be used as {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (easy) as Pinyin. Because of Pinyin, more people learn how to read. It is {#blank#}3{#/blank#} helpful system that improves Chinese language learning for all.

 This year, Pinyin turns 66 years old. It {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (use) everywhere in our daily life. We learn to speak Putonghua with the help of Pinyin. We write Chinese words on {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (computer) by using Pinyin. It is also becoming a bridge {#blank#}6{#/blank#} China and the world. Many people around the world start to learn Chinese by learning Pinyi {#blank#}7{#/blank#} you may say "nihao" to mean "hello" to a foreign friend.

Now, many people in other countries are {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (interested) in using Pinyin than before. For example, fewer foreigners use "dumplings". They prefer to say "jiaozi". The Oxford English Dictionary has {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (hundred) of Chinese words in Pinyin, such as wanggou for "shopping online". Maybe one day, Pinyin will play a key role in {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (spread) the Chinese language.

Many of us like to watch and post short videos. But can we share whatever we {#blank#}1{#/blank#}, even with the wrong information?

A blogger (博主) said sorry {#blank#}2{#/blank#} one video she posted on Feb 16. In the video, she said that she found a student's holiday workbook and said the student's name was Qin Lang. Many internet users checked the student's information, such as name, grade, and {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. They found out the video might not be {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. In a new video, the blogger said that she {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the wrong information to protect the student's privacy (隐私).

Some people might not think it's a big {#blank#}6{#/blank#} if you make a video with the wrong information. They believe that saying sorry will {#blank#}7{#/blank#} everything. But it's not that simple. According to the law, if the videos don't care about the truth and disturb (扰乱) public order, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} makers will be punished.

It's really important to be honest when making and sharing videos {#blank#}9{#/blank#}. We should not make up {#blank#}10{#/blank#} and break the law.

Inventions are very important and they can easily change our life. The followings are some great inventions. 

According to a study in Nature Climate Change, the population of polar bears will be in serious drop by the year 

2080. The cause is melting(融化) sea ice. Without ice, the bears must walk on the bank which is away from their main food source. That means the animals will be in danger because of lacking food.

" There's not enough food on land to support a polar bear population." Doctor Smith, the study's lead writer said. Lacking of food induces another problem. Mother bears may not be fat enough to produce milk for their babies. Some bear populations could stop having babies, leading to a rapid drop in numbers.

Arctic(北极) sea ice usually melts in the spring and summer, and then grows in the winter. But now, the ice is taking longer to grow back. Weather reports say the Arctic is warming twice as fast as the rest of the planet. Ice here has reduced 13% every 10 years since the 1970s. The Arctic is home to about 25,000 polar bears. Scientists have known that the animals are in danger.

But the study also notes that it is still possible to slow Arctic melting. The world can reduce the burning of fossil fuels(石化燃料) and lower the greenhouse gas." Saving the polar bears is up to us, I believe that there is hope. But humans need to act quickly to turn that hope into a reality." Doctor Smith said.

After a game like football, the players might get an X- ray in the hospital if they hurt their legs or arms. A dentist can use X- rays to look at teeth. And airport workers use an X- ray machine to check objects before a plane leaves. Nowadays, X- ray technology is widely used in medicine and other fields. 

X- rays were first discovered by a German scientist, Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen (1845-1923) . He found them quite by accident in 1895. One day, he discovered that an unknown kind of radiation (放射线) could hardly pass through hard objects like bones. Later, Röntgen took a photo of his wife's hand. It clearly showed her ring and her bones. That was the first X- ray photo in the world. 

Why is there an "X" in the word X- ray? It's because Röntgen couldn't explain exactly how it worked. He just knew that X- rays were new and useful for science. In fact, X- rays soon became an important tool in medicine. With the help of X- rays, doctors could see inside the human body for the first time without surgery (外科手术) . 

Röntgen was awarded the first Nobel Prize in physics in 1901 for his discovery. When he was asked what he was thinking at the moment of discovery, he replied, "I didn't think, I researched. " Röntgen gave away his Nobel Prize money to his university. And he never took out any patents (专利权) on X- rays, to make sure that the world could freely make use of his discovery.

 When I went to the library with my son, I saw your advertisement (广告) in the newspaper. It says if I join your club,I can visit other countries cheaply. I'm interested in it and I think it's a good way to spend a holiday(假期). I can offer(提供) my house here in Munich when I am traveling.

My house is in the center of the town, near an art museum. So it's an excellent place for art lovers. The house is big enough for four or five people to live in and it has everything for a nice holiday. But there is no swimming pool.

 My favorite countries to visit on holiday are English-speaking countries, but France would be a good place for me too. I usually take my holidays between March and June, and this is the time when another member(成员) of your club could use my house. The weather is good in Munich at this time of the year.
