A long time ago, there were two special boys, John and Joey. They showed great talents from an early age, and they did better than others around. 

They grew up but they chose different ways. John used all of his talents to find a good job. He joined in many activities and visited the most important people and places. Everyone thought that he would be the most important person in the world. 

But the second young man, Joey, was different. He always took a heavy responsibility (责任). He thought he should help others. He was always busy looking for ways to help others. 

One day, bad things happened and they met many problems. John didn't know what to do. But Joey always tried his best to solve all kinds of problems. He thought of some good ways and didn't let the bad things affect (影响) the people in his town. From then on, he was more famous than John. 

John then knew that our best talents were not only for ourselves. He learned from Joey that we should always help other people.

Miss Wang is having a class meeting. The students are talking about life in the future. Everyone has his or her own opinions.

Zhang Li says, "In 2050, our life will be much 1 than it is now. The sky is bluer and water is clearer. We can breathe (呼吸) the 2 air every day. We will live a happier life. We humans will share the world 3 animals and plants peacefully."

Sally thinks that it is not a dream to travel to the moon for a 4 . We can eat healthy food every day. At that time, everyone will enjoy a 5 life.

Lisa believes that people will have more free time to enjoy 6 because robots (机器人) will be very popular and will do many things for people. And we will build new homes and schools on 7 planets (星球). Maybe we can chat with each other in our new homes.

Michael thinks that no animals will 8 because of the technology of cloning (克隆技术). There will 9 no pollution (污染). The whole world will be one big family. As time goes by, we will live a much easier and happier life.

Miss Wang tells them to work hard for their dreams and future. "Nothing is impossible. And if everyone 10 his best, the world will become better and better." says Miss Wang.

In 1937, my father, who was almost 20 years old, started a long journey. He traveled a thousand miles across China with his university, Zhejiang University, during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression(抗日战争). The Chinese government wanted to keep the university students safe because they were important for the country's future. As the university planned for the journey, the Head Librarian of Zhejiang Library, asked the university to take a valuable collection of books with them.

The books were called" Siku Quanshu". Created in the 18th century, this was a huge encyclopedia(百科全书) with 2.3 million pages and about 997 million words. It was so important that plans were made to protect it at any cost, even though it added another 230 boxes to the students' cargo.

The journey was not easy. Students and teachers were facing the dangers from air attacks.(空袭). They were always tired and hungry. They had to sleep on the ground in old temples(寺庙) but they continued their classes whenever they could. To protect the books, they tried to move by boat or truck whenever possible; at other times, they would put the boxes into carts(手推车). Sometimes the students had to carry some of the books in their backpacks. One scary moment was when a box of the Siku Quanshu books fell into a river. They quickly saved the books and dried them in a local temple.

After 1,400 miles and 28 months on the road, the university group finally reached a small town called Zunyi in Guizhou province. They stayed there in simple classrooms and dorms, until the war moved deeper into China. To further protect the Siku Quanshu, the books were hidden in a nearby cave, guarded by university staff. The books made it through the war in surprisingly good condition and were sent back to Zhejiang Library.

This amazing story shows how a group of young students and their teachers did everything they could to protect their culture's treasures. They faced many dangers and hardships, but they never gave up. They worked together to keep their knowledge safe.

When at last Daisy and I did meet up, Daisy explained the misunderstanding to me. "Don't worry, " she said to me. "I had so many 13  like this at first. There are lots of words that the Americans 14  differently in meaning from us British. You'll soon get used to all the funny things they say. But most of the 15 , British and American people understand each other. "

She Zhongqi is a student of Grade 8 in a middle school in Hubei Province. He was highly {#blank#}1{#/blank#} （赞扬） for his brave act to save an old man，a local newspaper reported. 

On April 13th，2023，when She Zhongqi was riding to school，he saw an old man lying on one side of the street without any {#blank#}2{#/blank#} （意识） . At the beginning，Zhongqi had no idea what to do. He just crouched（蹲下）worriedly {#blank#}3{#/blank#} （在旁边） the man and tried to wake him up. But it didn't work. All of a sudden，he remembered what he had learned at school--CPR（心肺复苏）!Immediately，he did it on the old man at a controlled{#blank#}4{#/blank#} （速度） for about 5 minutes. Luckily，the man started to breathe again before doctors arrived. 

Several days later，She's story quickly {#blank#}5{#/blank#} （传播） around the town and a reporter came to interview him. "Zhongqi，you're so {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （乐于助人的） !But what inspired you to do CPR to save others？"With a smile，Zhongqi answered，"Actually，I {#blank#}7{#/blank#} （不常） use the skill，but my teacher always {#blank#}8{#/blank#} （教导） us that in a crash situation，time is as {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （珍贵的） as life. "Then the reporter put what Zhongqi said in the newspaper and he soon became one of the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} （英雄） in his hometown.
