Zhu Yanjun is a migrant worker(农民工)from northwest China's Gansu Province. Recently the 50-year-old took part in the 2023 Chinese Poem Competition and won second place in the final.

Zhu was born in a family of farmers. As a young boy, Zhu would help his father do farm work after finishing classes. In 1983, as a first-grader in primary school, he met poetry for the first time in a Chinese class. Since then, he has been in love with poems. After noticing Zhu's interest, his father spared some money from the family's living costs to buy him poetry collections （诗歌集）. During junior high school, some of his classmates dropped out of school and moved to other cities to look for jobs. Zhu listened to them talking about the outside world during holidays. "I also wanted to leave my hometown to see the world. "he said.

After graduating from junior high school in 1992, Zhu stopped his schooling. He began to work as a migrant worker. But he did not stop reading poems. 

In the past years, Zhu has worked in seven cities in China. Whenever he arrives in a city, he first visits the bookstores and libraries there. Although he is busy working during the day, he spends his time at noon and in the evening reading poems. He knows around1, 000 poems by heart and the lines help him keep a calm mind. 

In 2023, with the encouragement of his wife, Zhu decided to sign up for the 2023 Chinese Poem Competition. To his surprise, he made it to the final. Under his influence, his son and daughter have developed a great interest in poetry. They have been accepted by universities away from their hometown. "I hope more people will also fall in love with poetry, "said Zhu, adding that he will continue learning poetry.

* Spend some time {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (think) in the language you learn. A good first step is to think in words.Try to name each object around you.Then think in simple sentences. {#blank#}9{#/blank#}example, if you are sitting in a park, you can say, "It's such a beautiful day." Then you can move to think in conversations.Imagine yourself {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (talk) to someone else. You are asking the questions and thinking of replies(回答). The secret to developing a habit of thinking in the language is doing it every day, over and over again.

What does running mean to you？For 21﹣year﹣old Wang Xueting and her father Wang Kequan，running is not only a kind of exercise but also a great experience（体验）.

Wang Xueting runs with her father every day now.Wang Xueting's 51﹣year﹣old father was born with an eye problem and that made him lose hope for his life.As a running lover，Wang Xueting didn't give up and decided to help her father.But running wasn't easy for her father in the beginning.Wang Xueting first bought a second﹣hand treadmill（跑步机） online for her father，but he couldn't use it because of his eye problem.

Then she decided to run with her father.At first，they ran in their community（社区）.Later they ran farther and more quickly.Her father slowly liked running.Because of it，he became healthier. "When I'm running，I feel like I'm not disabled （残疾的），" he said.Now running makes Wang Xueting and her father closer.

The story of Wang Xueting and her father moved many people after these people saw photos of their running on the Internet.

They joined a club﹣Running in the Dark for runners with eye problems.They are preparing （准备） to run a half marathon（马拉松赛跑）.Wang Kequan also volunteered （自愿做） to help other disabled people. "My dad is my hero，" Wang Xueting said.

My parents and I stayed in London for a few weeks last year. We went there in autumn. We think it is the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} time to visit England. The weather is usually very good. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} , we need to bring umbrellas with us. Because we will use them sometimes. There aren't too many {#blank#}3{#/blank#} in October. We stayed {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a small village. We had most of our sightseeing（观光）on {#blank#}5{#/blank#} . We went to see all the {#blank#}6{#/blank#}places. We went shopping and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} too much money. 

A lot of people say English food is awful（难吃）. We don't think {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. In fact, we enjoy{#blank#}9{#/blank#} vacation so much. So we {#blank#}10{#/blank#}to go there again this year. 

Even though I have lived in Taiwan， English has always been {#blank#}1{#/blank#} important part of my life. 

When I was a little girl， my family {#blank#}2{#/blank#} （move） to Houston， USA， because some of our close relatives（亲戚） lived there. English made its way into my life. It connected me {#blank#}3{#/blank#}the outside world. 

After entering a local school， I didn't really know how to have {#blank#}4{#/blank#}（conversation） with my foreign classmates at first. And I felt sad and nervous. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}（lucky）， my classmates were very friendly and patient with me. They taught me {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （pronounce） all the time. Very soon， English became a {#blank#}7{#/blank#} （two） language to me. When I couldn't 
show correct {#blank#}8{#/blank#}（express） in Chinese， I had another useful tool. 

After I learned some English， I read many English books. They helped to open up  {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （I） eyes and made my life full of fun. 

All in all， English has given me another tool to communicate with others. I find myself very lucky to have learned English，{#blank#}10{#/blank#} it has helped me shape（塑造） my view of the world.
