TikTok (抖音) is a video-sharing app that has taken the world by storm. You'll see dancing, jokes and amazing shows. Many people have found great joy in using the app. They feel relaxed when they watch the videos on TikTok after a day's hard work. However, others think it is not a good idea to use it. Some people, especially the young, have been addicted to (沉迷于) the app. They spend too much time on it. This makes them spend less time on their study or work. What's more, it is bad for their health as well. To solve this problem, TikTok has made lots of changes which are designed to protect its teenage users.

"Users aged 13—15 will not get push notifications (推送) from 21: 00, and for 16 to 17-year-olds, from 22:00. This will help them have more time on work, study, relaxation and sleep," the video-sharing app says. TikTok also made some changes that 16 to 17-year-old users will only receive messages which are good for them. "We want our users, especially younger users to develop good habits when using the Internet earlier," TikTok said.

Another change made earlier from TikTok was stricter. It was said that messages could be sent to users over 16s only. As for users aged 16 —17, if they want to send a message to others, they will need to change to a different sharing option (选择), which protects them from bad information. Besides that, before they share their first TikTok, users under 16 will be asked to choose with whom they want to share their videos.

The head of online child safety at the National Society for the the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, Andy Burrows, welcomed the new changes, saying the changes from TikTok would protect teenagers. "I think this will reduce opportunities for offenders (犯罪者) to trick children." Andy said.

The Beijing Central Axis(中轴线) shows a group of buildings and archaeological (考古的) sites that follow the traditional Chinese way of planning a capital city. It has been added to the UNESCO ( United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage List, becoming China's 59th World Heritage Site.

Stretching 7.8 kilometers north to south through the heart of Beijing, the property includes 15 parts, with the Bell and Drum Towers at the northern end and Yongdingmen Gate at the southern end. The complex includes imperial palaces and gardens, sacrificial(祭祀的) buildings, ancient city management facilities(设施), national ceremonial (仪式的) and public buildings, and central axis road remains.

According to Lyu Zhou from Tsinghua University, there is a description of this way of planning cities in the Kaogongji《考工记》( Book of Diverse Crafts), written before 221BC.

The book mentions " court in the front, market in the back," which matches the Forbidden City and the markets at the Bell and Drum Towers area. It also includes " an ancestral temple on the left, an altar of land and grain on the right," referring to the Imperial Ancestral Temple and the Alt ar of Land and Grain, located on the east and west sides of the Central Axis.

Construction of the Beijing Central Axis began in the 13^th century and took shape in the 16^th century. It has been refined over the past seven centuries and continues to influence Beijing's development today.

" The Beijing Central Axis is a symbol of traditional Chinese ideas and beliefs, showing national order and the Chinese tradition of inclusion and diversity," Lyu added.

It was a February afternoon. We were in a classroom. Taylor Angler watched some ducks swimming on a farm. But it was all in her head. A virtual reality headset（虚拟现实头戴式显示设备） took her there. "I was surprised to find that the ducks were right in front of me! It was an exciting experience（经历）." Taylor said after taking off the purple headset and finding herself still in the classroom. Many students around the world are taking VR "trips" like Taylor. But what change does it cause in learning? 

Taking children to visit different places is a good way to teach them about the world. But what can children do if they forget it after the trip? VR lets children go back at any time. 

It's difficult to talk about something if you didn't see it with your own eyes in the past. If you didn't see the ocean, with VR, now you can have a look at it for yourself. 

VR can also help students in science classes at school. "Too often at school, when you do experiments（实验）, you put different kinds of chemicals together and then get the result. And if you aren't successful, you need to do it again," a high school teacher said. "But we don't have enough chemicals. With VR, I just need to do it again on the computer. I don't have to use chemicals."

VR is useful, but that's not to say we don't need real-world experiences. The real world is what we really need to learn about. 

 That cold January night, I was growing sick of my life in San Francisco. There I was walking home at I am in the morning after a tiring practice at the theatre. With opening night only a week away,I was still learning my lines(台词). I was having trouble dealing with my part- time job at the bank and my acting at night at the same time. As I walked, I thought seriously about giving up both acting and San Francisco. City life had become too much for me.

 As I walked down empty streets under tall buildings, I felt very small and cold. I began running, both to keep warm and to keep away any possible robbers(强盗). Very few people were still out except a few sad- looking homeless people under blankets(毯子).

 About a block from my apartment, I heard a sound behind me. I turned quickly, half expecting to see someone with a knife or a gun. The street was empty. All I saw was a shining streetlight. Still, the noise had made me nervous, so I started to run faster. Not until I reached my apartment building and unlocked the door did I realize what the noise had been. It had been my wallet falling to the sidewalk.

 Suddenly I wasn't cold or tired anymore. I ran out of the door and back to where I'd heard the noise. Although I searched the sidewalk anxiously for fifteen minutes, my wallet was nowhere to be found.

 Just as I was about to give up the search, I heard the garbage truck pull up to the sidewalk next to me. When a voice called from the inside," Alisa Camacho?"I thought I was dreaming. How could this man know my name? The door opened, and out jumped a small red- haired man with a cheerful look in his eyes." Is this what you' re looking for?" he asked, holding up a small square shape.

 It was nearly 3 am by the time I got into bed. I wouldn't get much sleep that night, but I had got my wallet back. I also had got back some enjoyment of city life.

Li Mei is a student in my class.  She likes her daily life 1 school. 

Every morning, she gets up 2 at 6:00.  Then she goes to 3 in the park for thirty minutes.  Before 7:00 a. m. , she eats a delicious 4 .  After that she goes to school at 7:40 a. m.  Her school is not far, so she always 5 to school.  There are four 6 in the morning.  Among them, she likes Physics (物理) best, because she wants to be a scientist (科学家) when she grows up.  She eats lunch at 12:00 p. m.  She likes noodles for lunch.  Classes 7 at 4:00 p. m.  After school, she goes to the swimming pool to 8 there for an hour.  She goes home at 5:30 p. m.  Then she has dinner with 9 family.  She goes to bed at 10:00 p. m.  She thinks it is 10 for her to sleep early. 

In the first art class, Mrs Li {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (通常) asked the students to introduce themselves. It was Nana's turn. Nana stood up, but she was so nervous that her {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(头脑) was a blank (空白). She couldn't even say one word. She put her head down and kept {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(不作声的). 

Seeing that, Mrs Li asked, "Can you draw?"

Nana looked up at Mrs Li and {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(点头) her head.

"Then how about drawing a picture of you on the blackboard?" Mrs Li asked with a smile.

Nana's eyes met hers, and {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (突然) Nana didn't feel nervous at all.

Nana walked towards the blackboard. She thought for a moment and {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(开始) to draw with chalk (粉笔). Soon a nice picture appeared on the blackboard. The {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(整个的) class shouted, "Wow! The girl in the picture looks {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(几乎) the same as her," many students said. 

"Then how about drawing a picture of you on the blackboard?" Mrs Li asked with a smile.

"Wonderful!" Mrs Li said. "Thanks for your picture."

Hearing the nice words, Nana felt happy. She said, "Hi, {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(每个人). Nice to meet you. I'm Nana and I'm 13 years old. My hobby is drawing and It feels great to enjoy the {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(乐趣) of drawing together with you. Thank you."
