Everybody likes oranges. They are sweet and juicy. They are in sections, so it is{#blank#}1{#/blank#}  to eat them. Some oranges do not have any seeds(种子). Some have a {#blank#}2{#/blank#}  skin, and some have a thin skin.
   The orange tree is beautiful. It has a lot of shiny green {#blank#}3{#/blank#} . The small white flowers smell very sweet. An orange tree {#blank#}4{#/blank#} flowers and fruit at the same time.
   There were orange trees twenty million years ago. The oranges were very small, not like the {#blank#}5{#/blank#}  today. The orange tree probably came from China. Many different kinds of wild oranges{#blank#}6{#/blank#}  in China today. The Chinese started to raise(栽培) orange trees about 4,400 years ago.
   Farmers in other parts of Asia and the Middle East{#blank#}7{#/blank#}  to raise oranges from the Chinese. {#blank#}8{#/blank#} they taught Europeans. The Spanish planted orange trees in the new world (North and South America). They took them to Florida {#blank#}9{#/blank#} . Oranges are a very important crop in Florida today.
   In English, orange {#blank#}10{#/blank#}  both a fruit and a color. We use the name of the fruit for the color.

    It seems that everywhere around the world, people are sending more time at work {#blank#}1{#/blank#} less time with their families and friends. People are {#blank#}2{#/blank#} than ever before!

    In the past in many countries, the father worked and the mother stayed home, took {#blank#}3{#/blank#} of the children, and did the food shopping, cooking and cleaning.  At present, in most of the families, parents need work on weekdays, so they {#blank#}4{#/blank#} have to do the shopping, cooking and cleaning in their free time. Parents don't have as much time with their {#blank#}5{#/blank#}, however, they often had time in the past. There are also many single-parent（单亲的）families. In these families, the single parents has to do everything.

    These days ,many children come home {#blank#}6{#/blank#} school to an empty apartment or house .A lot of children spend many hours {#blank#}7{#/blank#} day in front of the television .Even the families are together, it is common for families members to do things by themselves. For example, they {#blank#}8{#/blank#} programs on separate TVs in different rooms, they use the Internet, they {#blank#}9{#/blank#} friends on the telephone, and they do other individual by themselves.

    Isn't it strange? Thanks to technology（科技）, people are able to communicate so {#blank#}10{#/blank#} with people far away, but sometimes they don't communicate with people their own homes.

    I love reading. At the age of 6, I could read Harry Potter, a difficult book for a 6-year-old, but I {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(enjoy) it all the same. It soon became clear that spelling for me was not difficult and I had a wide vocabulary. This is one way I got from reading{#blank#}2{#/blank#}such a young age.

     {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(I) advice for you as English learners would be to read the English novels which you have often read{#blank#}4{#/blank#}your mother language. Reading novels is a great way of{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (improve) your vocabulary and spelling without knowing it as you are absorbed(全神贯注的) in the story. You know the story well, so it's {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(usual) easy to follow it in English even if you don't understand every word.

    This is anther way of basic point: it's not necessary {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(understand) every word. If you understand the {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(mean) of the sentence, each word is not necessarily important. Quite often, if a word is used several {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(time) in a text, you'll gradually get an idea of what it means. Have {#blank#}10{#/blank#} try. If you love reading you could open up a whole new world of literature.
