An English traveller found himself in Norway with only enough money to buy the ticket for his journey back home. As he knew that it would take him only two days to get to England, he decided that he could easily spend the time without food. So he bought a ticket and got on the ship. The man closed his ears to the sound of the lunch bell. When dinner time came, he didn't go to the dining room, saying that he was not feeling very well.

    The next morning, he still didn't have breakfast and at lunch time he again stayed in his room. But at dinner time he was so hungry that he went to the dining room and ate everything the waiter put in front of him. He got ready for the quarrel(争吵).

     “Bring me the bill,” he said. “The bill, sir?” said the waiter in surprise. “There isn't any bill. On our ship meals are included(包括)in the money for the ticket,'' said the waiter.

There was a rich man who had many banana trees in a village. After a good harvest (丰收), he decided to give some bananas to the nearest temple (寺庙) as an offering to God (神). He asked one servant (仆人) to take the bananas to the temple.

The servant got very hungry and ate two bananas on the way. When he reached the temple, he gave the remaining bananas to the temple. That night, the rich man had a strange dream. In his dream, God visited him and said, "The two bananas you gave me were very good." The rich man woke up suddenly and was surprised by his dream.

The next morning, he asked the servant whether all the bananas had reached the temple or not. The servant told him he had eaten two bananas. The rich man was disappointed but wasn't angry. Instead, he realized that helping the poor was the only way to reach God.

From that day on, the rich man started helping people in need in the village. He gave away food, clothes and money to the poor, and he even built a school for the children. His kind actions inspired others to do the same. Great changes took place in the whole village soon. Everyone was happy, and there were no more poor people. They learned that the true way to happiness was through kindness.

Elephants are big, but Teensy was the smallest of them. Teensy tried everything she could think of to help herself grow. She ate a lot. However, nothing seemed to 1 .

One day Teensy went with the elephants to have lunch. They stopped in front of some trees and found their favourite green leaves. Teensy raised her nose and tried again and again, but she couldn't reach the branches. Not even the 2 ones!

At the end of the day, Teensy was with the rest of the elephants watching the 3 . But Teensy couldn't see very much. "Excuse me," said Teensy politely, "I'd like to see more than your knees, if you please." But the elephants didn't hear little Teensy. They were too 4 enjoying the sunset. She knew she was too little to walk away by herself, so she sat and imagined what the sunset must look like. "Oh, I guess it is too pretty for words!" she sighed. Teensy was very sad. "Oh, woe is me，" she said. Suddenly, Teensy heard a tiny voice. "What is woe?" the voice said. Teensy looked down and saw a mouse. "Woe means sad," said Teensy. She told the mouse about seeing only elephant5 instead of the sunset. 

"I'm too little," she said. 

"Why? You're not little at all," said the mouse. 

"Do you think so?" replied Teensy, "I'm sorry you're so small. I know how it feels." "Don't be sorry," said the mouse. "I like being small! I can always fit into corners."

"Wow," said Teensy, "so being 6 CAN be good." 

Early one morning, a woman was {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（carry）a big bag of vegetables to the market. Life was hard and it was difficult for her to make money. She hoped to sell the vegetables to the people in the town so that she could get some money for her two little {#blank#}2{#/blank#} （child）. 

The mountain road was narrow and the woman was walking {#blank#}3{#/blank#} （careful）because she did not want to lose her vegetables. Suddenly she {#blank#}4{#/blank#}（hear）a loud bell. and a bicycle came round. It passed her {#blank#}5{#/blank#} went very fast down the hill. The woman jumped to one side of the road quickly and {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （she）vegetables fell into the valley（山谷）. She looked up, and saw a young boy {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the bicycle. He was riding on without even looking round to see if {#blank#}8{#/blank#} old woman was all right. The woman shouted, "Come back, young man! You dropped something!" After hearing this, the boy was {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （surprise）and stopped to push the bicycle back up the hill. " {#blank#}10{#/blank#} did I drop?" he asked. "Young man!" the woman answered, "You dropped your manners."
