I like listening to music in my flee time. My favorite song is Another World by One Direction. I also like reading books and one of my favorite books is The Old Man and the Sea. But I like making clothes best. I think it is very interesting.

    In my free time, I like reading books, drawing and playing volleyball. I also enjoy talking with my friends and playing the piano. I have piano lessons every Thursday and Sunday.

    In my free time, I often help my parents do the housework. I clean the rooms, wash the dishes, walk the dog and help my sister with her studies. But my favorite thing is cooking. I want to be a great cook in the future (未来).

    I like doing volunteer (志愿者) work inky free time. I go to the old people s home with my classmates twice a month. And sometimes I go to the market to help old people. I also help clean the park in my neighborhood.

Once there was a teenage boy who was known as a fast runner in his village. He only cared about winning every race and becoming more successful.

One day,the boy took part in a running race in his village. He won the 200, 100 and 50-meter races without any problem. He was proud of himself and received great applause (掌声). But his grandfather stepped in and challenged him to a race with two unexpected competitors, an old man and a blind girl. The boy thought it was unbelievable but accepted. In the race, the boy finished first, while the old man and the blind girl were still at the starting line. With joy, he waved his hands at the crowd. But they kept silent.

"Why are people not cheering for me like before?" he asked his grandfather.

"Start the race again with them. But this time, all of you should cross the finish line at the same time," the grandfather replied.

The boy was surprised but agreed to the race. During the second race, the boy took the hands of the old man and the blind girl and walked slowly with them to the finish line. The crowd gave them a standing applause.

The boy asked his grandfather, "For whom are the people cheering? Is it for me, or them?" The grandfather smiled and said. "The crowd did not cheer for any one of you. They cheered for how you all ran the race together. Facing the race of life, what matters is not just winning, but how you run the race."

While we were growing up, our parents often said things like, "Look at that boy, he swims so well! He is such a talent(人才)．" Such words made us believe that if we were not born a talent, we would never do things well. So we were afraid to try new things, and were afraid of making mistakes or failing. But in fact, failures(失败) and mistakes are as important as success.

Sarah is lucky. She has a great father. As a child, her father asked her the same question every weekend. "What did you fail at this week, Sarah？" He did not care too much about her grades. He cared more about what she had tried but failed at. When she told him about her failures and mistakes, he would give her a high five(举手击掌)．

Do you realize what her father was doing? He was trying to make her believe that failures and mistakes are just fine. And they were a huge part of our growth and success. Most importantly, her father was telling her that she would still be loved and trusted even if she failed. Encouraged by the weekend communications, Sarah has grown into a successful businesswoman.In her journey, she has tried many new jobs and had many difficulties，but she never lost heart. Because she knew her failures and mistakes would be embraced(接受) on the weekend.

So go ahead and ask yourself and your children, "What did we fail at this week？"
