Jackson was driving back home along a road one evening. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} It was winter and it was very cold, just like his feelings.

An old lady with her car was standing on one side of the road. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. The lady looked scared even when he put a smile on his face. Was he going to hurt her? He didn't look like a good man and he looked poor and hungry.

Jackson knew how she felt. He said, "{#blank#}3{#/blank#}Why don't you wait in my car? By the way, my name is Jackson."

The lady thought for a while and then went into his car. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Jackson went under her car to repair it. When he finished, he got dirty and his hands hurt. Then the lady told him that her name was Annie. She asked Jackson how much she should pay for his help.

Jackson never thought about getting money. This was not a job for him. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} He told her that if she really wanted to pay him back, the next time she saw someone in need, she should give that person.

Jeff has a pet. It's a dog. It is white. Jeff likes it very much. He thinks the dog is very smart. It can play ball games and it can buy newspapers for Jeff. Every morning, Jeff puts one yuaninto the dog's mouth and it goes to the shop to buy newspapers for Jeff. 

Jeff has a good friend Mark. Jeff tells Mark about his smart dog. Mark doesn't believe it. Today, Mark comes to see Jeff in the morning. Jeff is playing with his dog. Mark says, "I will give your dog money. I don't think it can buy newspapers." "Have a try." says Jeff. 

Then Mark puts money into the dog's mouth and the dog walks out. After ten minutes, the dog doesn't come back. After an hour, the dog still doesn't come back. 

"How much money do you give the dog?" asks Jeff. 

"Five yuan."

"Well, if it has five yuan, it will go to the movies." says Jeff.

On my first round-the-world trip in 2006, I planned everything out in advance. I knew where I was going, staying for how long, and how I would get there. And then half-way through I ditched the plan and went with the flow (随大流) . Over the years, how I plan my travel has changed. Now, I'm a last-minute planner and seldom travel with any plan. 

Traveling without a plan gives you great flexibility (灵活性). Since nothing is booked far in advance, you can turn to something different when you change your mind or something better comes along. I changed my plans to meet a friend on an island in Thailand and stayed for a month. I wouldn't have had that experience if I had kept to my planned schedule. 

"    ★    " — they overplan their trips. Their whole journey is scheduled. Two days here, three days there. I understand why people do that. When time is short, you want to see as much as possible. You don't want to waste a single second. 

Actually, it is better to slow down your pace. Spending more time in one place allows you to get a better feel for the rhythm of life. You can visit at a more relaxed pace, see more than just the attractions, and open up your schedule to the happy accidents of travel. 

When I first made my travel plan, I tried to include everything in it. Then I realized it was unrealistic, and reviewed my plan. I came up with a list of one or two things I want to see each day and spaced everything out. It's an important lesson to learn. I think the best trip plan is to work out the general path you want to take, book the first few nights of your trip, and let your travels unfold from there. This way you are never locked into a certain place if your feelings change. 

Sam hates doing chores. But he has to do many chores every day. Last weekend, he {#blank#}1{#/blank#}( take) the dog for a walk. And he had to wash his {#blank#}2{#/blank#}( father) car. He also cleaned his own room and did the {#blank#}3{#/blank#}( dish). Sam felt really terrible. Sometimes he has to look {#blank#}4{#/blank#} his little sister at home. He even has to cook for {#blank#}5{#/blank#}( she) when his parents are busy.

Sam has a foreign friend at school. His name is Peter. {#blank#}6{#/blank#}( do) chores in Peter's family is very different. In his house, only the girls do chores, such as sweeping the floor and taking {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the rubbish. His sisters make all the beds and clean all the rooms. Sam thinks Peter is very {#blank#}8{#/blank#}( luck) because he doesn't need to do the boring chores.

Sam is good at science. He wants to be a {#blank#}9{#/blank#}( science) when he grows up. He wants to make a robot to do the chores in the future. Then everyone will be happy. What {#blank#}10{#/blank#} good idea!

My favourite animal is chameleons(变色龙). I like them because they can change colours. Chameleons change colours when they're not happy or see something {#blank#}1{#/blank#}, or when they're too cold or too hot. Chameleons have a very long tongue(舌头), so they can use it {#blank#}2{#/blank#} their food easily. I think they're amazing animals!

Also, I {#blank#}3{#/blank#} love elephants. I love their big ears and long trunks. Elephants can pick up {#blank#}4{#/blank#} and put it in their mouths with their trunks. But they are in great danger now. People cut down many trees, so they {#blank#}5{#/blank#} their homes now. Everyone must try their best to save and help them. 

Last Saturday, I took the train to Beijing to visit the Tian' anmen Square. After getting on the train, I took off my {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(夹克) and was going to sit in my seat. However, an {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(年长的) man said I had taken his seat. I was a little {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(愤怒的). I said to him, " Please look at my ticket, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(先生). My seat is 16D!" But the man {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(展示) me his ticket and it was 16D too. Then a ticket {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(官员) came over and offered to help. He checked our tickets. The {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(结果) was that I had taken the wrong car! How {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(糊涂) I was. Then I said sorry to the man and found the right car. {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(因为；由于) of this experience, I always check the number of the car before getting on it. I think as long as I take {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(当心), I won't make the same mistake.
