Who is the greatest teacher in Chinese history? Many people would think of Confucius (孔 子) , whose birthday was on September 28 th. Although he lived over 2 , 0 0 0 years ago, people still remember and respect him.

Confucius lived in the Kingdom of Lu, which lies in Shandong Province. He lived during the Spring and Autumn Period. He had a hard childhood. His father died when he was only 3. His mother brought him up. As a child, he had to work to help his mother, but young Confucius didn't give up studying. He visited many famous teachers and learned music, history, poetry and sports.

Later, he became a teacher and started the first public school in Chinese history. At that time, only children from noble (贵族的) families could go to school, but Confucius believed everyone should go to school if they wanted to learn. He had about 3 , 000 students in his lifetime.

Today, people still follow Confucius ' lessons. He told us that each person has something worthy to learn and teach. "When I am with three people, one of them must be better than me in some areas. I choose their good qualities and follow them. I take their bad qualities and change them in myself. "

He also taught us that thinking is very important in study. "All study but no thinking makes people puzzled. All thinking but no study makes people lazy. "

孔夫子不仅是一个伟大的老师，也是一个对世界和社会有明智想法的思想家 。His most important teachings are about kindness and good manners. "A kind person should care for others. Be strict with yourself, but be kind to others. "

We can learn by listening to the teacher in class, but is this the only way for students to learn? Of course not. There is another way to learn. That is students can teach themselves. For example, if you can't remember things when you are doing homework, you can look through your book to find the answer. This is a way to teach yourself. And it is not a difficult thing. We can do this at any place and at any time.

How do you teach yourself? The first thing you must do is reading. Read something you like, or you have to read. The second is that you must ask yourself questions. A clever student is usually good at asking questions. The third is to answer the questions yourself by thinking hard, reading the text or other books, or asking other people. These are ways of teaching yourself. And if you do like this for a long time, I'm sure you'll succeed in your study.

Bryan ran home." Dad! Look!" he called excitedly."I found the cutest pet in the river! I named him Hoppy."

Dad had a closer look," Oh, a frog! How handsome!"

" Do you think Hoppy will like it here?"

Bryan found a shoebox. Using a pen, he poked(戳) air holes in the top of the box." Welcome to your new home. In you go, Hoppy."

" Are you hungry?" Bryan asked. He lifted his frog out of the box and put some sandwich pieces in front of him." Eat up, Hoppy." Bryan watched... But Hoppy didn't eat. Bryan waited... Hoppy just sat and stared (瞪眼看)." Don't you like sandwiches?"

Bryan put Hoppy back in the box."I think Hoppy's tired. I'm going to make him a comfortable bed." Bryan cut the old newspapers into pieces and put them into the box. He put Hoppy on his new bed." Are you cozy now? I' ll tell a story to help you sleep." When the story was over, Hoppy was still awake.

" Can't you sleep? Why?" Bryan asked. Hoppy just sat… and stared. Bryan didn't know what to do and sat thinking.

" How are you getting along?" Dad asked.

Bryan cried," Hoppy doesn't want to eat or sleep."

" Think about what he really needs."

A little later, Bry an ran into the house looking for his dad." Whoa!" said Dad." What's the hurry? And where's Hoppy?"

"I took him back to the river," Bryan said." He was sure glad to be home! When I put Hoppy down, he jumped into the river, caught a fly and ate it. Then, guess what!"

" What?"

Bryan laughed." Just before Hoppy jumped into the water, I think I saw him smile at me."

Friends are special people in your life you can count on. You have a lot in common with each other. You have the same hobbies, sports, or other favourite things. 

Friends share things with each other.{#blank#}1{#/blank#} Your friend will often lend you an ear too. This means that she will be a good listener when you share your thoughts and feelings. 

{#blank#}2{#/blank#} A good friend wants to help you when you are sad. She wants to laugh with you when you are happy. Being together will help your friendship grow. 

{#blank#}3{#/blank#} If you have a disagreement with your friend, it doesn't mean that she doesn't like you any more. In fact, it means that she simply shares a different thought with you. Talk with your friend if this happens.

Here is a photo of Sunny's house. Sunny is a clever 1 cute dog. 2 color is yellow. It lives with its 3 . They live in a beautiful house. The house has 4 floors. 5 you come to Sunny's house, you can see a big living room on the first floor. In the living room, there 6 a purple sofa and a big TV. 7 the sofa, there are some family photos on the wall. Near the living room, there is a 8 kitchen. The dining room is also on the 9 floor. In it, there is a 10 and four chairs. 

Now let's go 11 . On the second floor, you can see bedrooms, a game room and so on. In the kid's12 , there is a beautiful bed. It's for Sunny. There are some toys on the floor. Sunny's mother often 13 it to put away all the things. Is there a kite on the wall? Oh, yes! Sunny likes flying the kite and14 a blue bike on Sunday. Now, go upstairs again. On the third floor, you can see a nice 15 with some beautiful flowers. 

Sunny has a tidy and great house and it lives happily with its parents!
