When I was 19 years old, I had a part-time job in a hospital. At that time, I was shy and didn't believe in myself. I seldom talked with others. I wasn't confident at all. Later, I met an old and experienced doctor, Mike, and we became good friends. He encouraged me to be confident and try to communicate with others. He helped me learn to enjoy myself. He also asked me to take some important courses. I did what he told me and did very well. Later, I got a chance to go to college, but I had another problem. At that time, I was too poor to pay for my education. I was very upset and didn't know what to do. When I wanted to give up my dream, Mike helped me again. He offered me some chances to make money. Step by step, I could pay for my college education.

After graduating, I got my dream job and I liked it very much. Mike made me enter a different world. I am so lucky to have met such a good friend in my life.

In 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping offered to build a Silk Road Economic Belt (经济带) and a 21st Century Maritime (海上) Silk Road, which became known as the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI, "一带一路"倡议). The BRI has brought cultures together for over ten years. As the BRI continues to bring the world together, young people from the Belt and Road countries can see how it continues to develop and have a deeper understanding of it. We did a survey of 125 Chinese students. The following survey is about BRI in the eyes of the students. The diagrams (图表) below show the results.

We use names every day. When we meet a new person, we usually ask, "What's your name?" It's important(重要的) to know a person's name. Names are different all over the world, so it is very difficult to know all names. 

In the US, many people have a first name, a middle name and a last name. Parents choose the first names and middle names for their babies. There are names for boys and girls. For example, John, Peter, Tom and Mike are all names for boys. Elizabeth, Bonnie, Susan and Mary are all girls' names. The last name is the family name. Usually, it is the father's family name. 

Everything has a name. Names are important. 

Many people like to take a trip by plane，but I don't like it because an airport （机场） is usually far from the city. You have to get there early and wait for hours for the plane to take off （起飞） and it's often late. You can't open the windows. You can't choose the food. Planes are fast，but it still takes you hours to go out of the airport and into the city. 

I like traveling by train. I think trains are safe. The stations are usually in cities. When you are late for a train，you can catch another one. You can walk around in the train and open the windows. You can see many interesting things on your way. I know it takes a little more time. 

I also like cars. You can start your trip when you want to，and you don't need to get to a railway station or a bus stop. Also you can carry many things with you in a car. But sometimes there are too many cars on the road. 

John and Robert Taylor are brothers. They are always close to each other. They just {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(完成) the school bike {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(比赛). Though(即使) they didn't win, they smiled happily. To John and Robert, winning is not the most important thing. 

Robert cannot move at all and has to stay at home because of a {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(严重的) {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(疾病). So he often feels lonely. He wants to play with other kids. 

One day, after seeing Robert's sad face, John found a way to {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(解决) this problem. He put Robert in a trailer. Then he {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(拉；扯) it along with his bike. 

The brothers often take part in races together. John {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(拒绝) to race without his brother. They enjoy the time together. "We are family,"John says. 

The {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(结果) doesn't really {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(重要) for the Taylor brothers. The love between them is the most important and it {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(给……提供动力) their bike. 

People usually hate mice, but one mouse has won the hearts of people all over the world—the famous Mickey Mouse (米老鼠).

Ninety years ago, most movies were silent. A man called Walt Disney made a cartoon mouse that could talk in his movies. He named his mouse Mickey Mouse. People both young and old were very excited at the talking mouse. Children loved to see their friend, because he brought joy and laughter to them. Mickey was a clean mouse right from the beginning. Perhaps this is one reason why people hate real mice and love Mickey Mouse. In his early life, Mickey made some mistakes. People were angry. They wrote to Disney and said that they didn't want Mickey to do silly things. So Disney made a new animal named Donald Duck. He also made a dog called Pluto. This dog does stupid things and makes mistakes wherever he goes. Now our Mickey Mouse is not only clean but also important. He appears as a beautiful and clever star. He has his friends in almost every country.
