①Hello! My name is Emma and I'm eleven years old. I have a brother, Josh, who's just five. I live with my family on a farm in the southwest of England. I was born in London, but my parents moved to Devon when I was two. My brother was born here, in Northam. My father runs the farm and my mother is a vet (兽医). We have lots of animals on our farm like ducks, chickens, pigs, sheep, cows and horses.

②I love living in the country. I don't mind getting up early every day. I'm old enough to help my parents with the work on the farm. I love feeding ducks and chickens. It's not difficult at all. It takes me about a quarter of an hour to give them fodder every morning, but first I have breakfast myself. Sometimes I also help my dad milk the cows, especially on weekends.

Repair or Replace?(你会如何处理家用电器)

A much-used home appliance suddenly stops working. You look at it 1 :Should I repair it or replace(替换) it?

It's a hard question that almost every family has faced. There are so many things to consider, from the cost to the effects. But you may not have much time to make a decision—just imagine living without a(n) 2 on a hot summer's day.

In a recent {#blank#}1{#/blank#} 3 , more than 95 percent of the 11,350 participants( 参 与者) chose to repair a broken appliance. Only three percent chose to replace the appliance. Which decision was the smarter?

From my point of view, one great way of looking at the problem is to work out the current(当 前的) value of your appliance. When you 4 a new home appliance, write down its cost and the number of years you expect it to last. Divide the cost by the number of years. This will tell you how much value the appliance 5 each year. When the appliance breaks down, you can quickly work out its current value. If a repair costs more than the appliance's current value, you should replace the appliance. Otherwise, you may consider having it repaired.

According to the theory, if a washing machine breaks down when it is eight years old, you should replace it. For fridges and ovens, that number is nine.

When you study, the first thing to consider is whether you understand the information, and the second is how you will remember it. Some of you perhaps think you know all about that, right? After all (毕竟), you've been studying for years. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} The advice is for all of you.

First of all, have a plan. You can make a plan for a week or for a longer time. If you're studying for an important exam, you should make a long-term plan.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}If it doesn't, change your plan in time.

Next, think about your environment. Make sure the place for studying is comfortable with enough light and fresh air, not too hot or too cold. If you think you do it better with music, you can put some music on and see if it's true.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}But for other people, it can make it harder to concentrate (集中注意力).

Third, take breaks while studying. You can plan your study time in periods (时间段) with breaks in between. Some experts advise you to take a 10-minute break after 30 minutes of studying.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}During your short break, you can treat yourself to something like green tea, but I wouldn't suggest chocolate because sugar can make it harder to concentrate.

Finally, think about what you do when you're studying.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}If that works for you, then great! However, I suggest writing notes while studying because it helps your mind process the information better!

②For astronauts in space, exercise is important. The environment is very different in space. Doing sports helps astronauts stay healthy. How do they exercise? There is a spin bike（健身车）, a treadmill（跑步机）, and other fitness equipment（设备）in the space station. The equipment makes it easy for astronauts to work out. 

③Astronauts live in a weightless environment, so they can't take showers like we do on the earth. Is there a bathroom in the space station? How do they keep themselves clean? Don't worry! Tiangong has a special bathroom. Astronauts can wipe themselves clean with a wet towel（毛巾）. 

④What do astronauts eat in the space station? There is bread and porridge for breakfast. There are also traditional Chinese dishes, like Kung Pao Chicken, fried rice and fried noodles with sliced pork. There is a special "fridge" to store the food. It's made of "aerogel（气凝胶）". The food stays cool in it. 

⑤What if astronauts miss their families? There is special communication equipment in the space station. Astronauts can have personal "sky-to-earth" calls with their families. Usually, the astronauts wear earphones. It not only helps them talk with each other, but also allows them to talk to the ground from any position（位置）.
