Everyone wants to be successful, but failure (失败) is a common thing for us to meet with.1, sometimes we fail the exams; sometimes in the sports meeting, others2 but we fail. So almost3 meets with the failure in his life.

However, different people have different4 to deal with(处理)the failure. Some people lose hope when they fail. They seem to think that it is the5 of the world. But others don't take failure6. They seem to think that failure is the first step(步骤)to success. They will7 and try their best to get the final success.

Now let's imagine( 猜想)the ends of the two ways. If we are afraid of the failure and always feel sad, and don't try our best to change ourselves, we may meet with more and more failures. Daisy forgot to set the alarm clock (闹钟) so she had to run to catch the bus. This made her feel tired and rushed when she started her science test. After she handed in her test paper, she was certain that the test had not gone well. With a heavy heart, she left the classroom.

That afternoon, Daisy left school to work part-time at Beckman's. After she finished her work, Mrs. Beckman called her into the office. "Daisy," she said, "you have been a great worker. But business has been slow; we have to let you go."

Feeling down, Daisy left the office. As she walked slowly towards her aunt's house, she tried to think about the new hairstyle her aunt had promised her. When she arrived, Daisy showed her aunt a picture of the style she wanted.

"Well, you're done. What do you think?" Her aunt asked about an hour later.

What Daisy saw in the mirror left her speechless. It was nothing like the picture! How could she possibly go to school again?

The next morning, putting her things in her locker, she ran into Ms. Wilson, her science teacher.

"I know, Ms. Wilson, I did very poorly on the test. It's just that I forgot…"

"What are you talking about? Daisy, you did a great job!" Ms. Wilson said. "What I wanted to ask you is if you would be interested in working a few days a week after school as a lab assistant (助手). I need some help organizing all the materials." Daisy happily accepted.

"Daisy!" she heard as the rest of the students began to enter the building. "Where did you get your hair done?" She was so excited about her test and new job that she had completely forgotten about her hair.

"Wow! That is so cool!" she was told. She couldn't believe her ears. Everyone loved her hair.

What a couple of days it had been! Walking home, she smiled as the radio of a passing car played the song "What a Difference a Day Makes".

We all enjoy the colors of autumn leaves．Did you ever wonder how and why a leaf changes color？Where do the yellows and oranges come from？To answer those questions，we first have to understand what leaves are and what they do．

Leaves are the world's food factories．Plants take water from the ground through their roots and take CO₂ from the air．Plants use sunlight to turn water and CO₂ into glucose（葡萄糖），a kind of sugar．Plants use it as food for energy and growing．

A chemical called "chlorophyll（叶绿素）" in the leaves gives plants their green color．As summer ends and autumn comes，the days get shorter and shorter，and trees "know" it's time to begin getting ready for winter．

During winter，there is not enough sunlight or water．Trees rest during this time and live on the food they store during the summer．They begin to shut down their foodmaking factories．As the green chlorophyll disappears from the leaves，we begin to see yellow and orange leaves．

The bright reds and purples we see in leaves are made mostly in autumn．In some trees，like maples（枫树），sunlight and the cool nights of autumn turn the glucose in the leaves into a red color．And we can enjoy the beautiful red leaves during autumn．

The Yellow River is one of the most well-known rivers in China. It plays an important part in Chinese culture. It is important to business and farming.

The Yellow River is the second longest river in China. A lot of famous longer rivers in Asia are in China or go through China. In Asia, the longest river is the Yangtze River and it is the third longest river in the world.

Although the Yellow River has been the start of life in China, it has also caused floods. It's said that the worst flood happened during the Qing Dynasty. This flood killed a large number of people and was one of the worst natural disaster (灾害) in Chinese history.

 Governments around the world are pushing for an end to plastic bags. More and more businesses are changing to paper products. Using paper is thought to be better than plastic.

However, it is harmful to the environment, too.

 Firstly, paper bags are made from trees. Trees, as you know, are good for the environment. They can slow down climate change. An increase in the use of paper bags can cause more deforestation(毁林).

 Secondly, the production of paper things requires more energy and water. About 10 percent more energy and four times as much water is used to produce a paper bag than a plastic one. You might say that we can use recycled paper to save that energy and water. This seems to be a good idea. However, it takes even more energy and water to go through the recycling process than to make a new paper bag. Products made from recycled paper are also often short-lived.

 Furthermore, paper products are heavier than plastic ones. That means they require more fuel to transport. Seven trucks are needed to transport two million paper bags, while only one truck is needed to transport the same number of plastic bags. The increased weight also leads to a larger amount of waste once the bags are thrown away.

 So, paper products are actually a lose-lose for both the environment and businesses. They are more expensive than plastic products. A paper straw costs about 5 to 12 cents, while a plastic one usually costs only about 2 cents.

 In my opinion, the most environment-friendly way is to avoid single-use things altogether. Products like glass water bottles and steel straws can be used over and over again. They are much better than either paper products or plastic products. By increasing the use of these items, you can greatly reduce your throwaway waste and truly make our earth a greener place!

Parents often find children watch cartoons for at least three to four hours a day. Studies show that kids start watching cartoons on TV at an early age of six months, and by the time they reach the age of two or three, they become fans of cartoons and they would like to spend much time on them. Is it good for kids to watch cartoons?

Parents often see this as a problem because most of the kids are too crazy about watching cartoons. Parents think if kids spend too much time on cartoons, they won't do well at school. 

Some people think it's good to watch cartoons. They help the working parents the most because parents can do a lot of work when their kids watch cartoons on TV. 

When children watch educational cartoons, they get to learn things. Cartoons also help to improve children's language skills. Educational cartoons help children try different languages. Kids can learn English well with the help of those cartoon programs. At the same time, some kids can learn about the friendship and teamwork from the cartoons. It is good for them to get on well with their friends and classmates. 

So sometimes it is meaningless to stop kids from watching cartoons, but parents should make sure that their kids are watching the right things.
