It used to be that people would drink coffee or tea in the morning to pick them up and get them going for the day. Then cola drinks hit the market. With lots of caffeine and sugar, these drinks soon became the pick-me-up of choice for many adults and teenagers. Now drink companies are putting out so-called "energy drinks." These drinks have the specific aim of giving tired customers more energy.

One example of a popular energy drink is Red Bull. The company that puts out this drink has reported that Red Bull is not a thirst quencher (解渴饮料). Instead, the drink is meant to revitalize(使恢复生机) a tired customer's body and mind. In order to do this, the makers of Red Bull, and other energy drinks, typically add vitamins and certain chemicals to their drinks. The added chemicals are like chemicals that the body naturally produces for energy. The vitamins, chemicals, caffeine, and sugar found in these drinks all seem to give a person energy.

Health experts are not so sure, though. For one thing, there is not enough evidence(证据) to show that all of the vitamins added to energy drinks actually raise a person's energy level. Another problem is that there are so many things in the drinks. Nobody knows for sure how all of the ingredients in energy drinks work together.

Dr. Brent Bauer cautions (告诚) people about believing all the claims (申明) energy drinks make. He says, "It may be true if you put these twelve things together, you will get a good result." However Dr. Bauer adds the mix of ingredients could also have a negative impact (负面影响) on the body "We just don't know at this point," he says.

Every school day, we use schoolbags to carry all of our things to school. They are a big 1 of our lives. But have you 2 thought about the history of the schoolbag?

In the Han Dynasty (汉朝), students in old-style schools used bamboo boxes to 3 books to school. People think the bamboo boxes to be the 4 schoolbags. There were usually two or three layers (层) in the box. Kids put different things 5 books, brushes, ink stones and paper in the boxes.

Hundreds of years later, people developed a new kind of schoolbag 6 the budai. The budai was lighter than the bamboo box. People can carry it 7 . With the founding (成立) of the People's Republic of China, military rucksacks (军用帆布包) became popular. Many people carried them 8 they were in school. Ask your grandparents or parents 9 these bags. Maybe they can tell you about their 10 of carrying them when they were in school.

A new style of school bags 11 in recent years. Many of them have colorful and fashionable designs on them, such as pictures of cartoons or pop stars. And they are 12 comfortable to use. Some students pull wheeled bags filled with heavy textbooks and 13 carry backpacks.

Electronic (电子的) schoolbag are being used in many places now. Students don't 14 carry heavy schoolbag to school anymore.

In May, 16-year-old Alktur Dibat became the youngest Chinese climber to reach the top of Qomolangma (珠穆朗姆峰) . 

The boy is from Urumqi, Xinjiang.  He arrived at the South Base Camp in Nepal on April 15.  He spent 28 days getting used to (习惯) the new place and then started his climb with about 10 other good climbers. 

On May 19, Alktur finally reached the top of the world, breaking the record set last year by Xu Zhuoyuan, a girl from Hunan.  Reaching the top of Qomolangma is my biggest dream.  I feel very happy that I made my dream come true, Alktur said.  During his climb, he sometimes felt terrible, but it didn't stop him from keeping going. 

Alktur is a student at Urumqi No.  13 Middle School.  He started to learn rock climbing at 7, skiing at 8, and ice climbing at 9.  He climbed his first mountain with his father when he was 10.  In July last year, they climbed a high mountain called Muzta Ata in Xinjiang.  In February this year, Alktur climbed Siguni Mountain in Sichuan. 

To climb Qomolangma, Alktur ran 10 kilometers every morning and took special training classes on weekends.  He also took a training class organized by the Chinese Mountaineering Association. 

Alktur now wants to climb the other highest mountains.  He loves the feeling of climbing and wants to keep trying. 

A boy helped save the life of his friend from choking(窒息) in the dining hall at school while having their lunch there. Many people watched the video of the accident on the Internet. 

In the video, the new student Jackson just got a seat and ate his chicken sandwich. Suddenly the food stuck(卡住) in his throat and his face turned red. Hunter Olsen sat across from Jackson. He thought that Jackson was just joking and laughed at it along with his friends. But soon it became clear that Jackson was really choking and tried to cough the food out. He pointed to his throat to tell Hunter that he was not playing. Hunter realised that he had to do something and used the Heimlich manoeuvre(海姆利克急救法). Finally, Jackson coughed the food out and could breathe again. 

Ms Howa, who taught them the Heimlich manoeuvre during her health class, said she couldn't believe her ears when she heard what happened. But she was over the moon to know that her student put what she taught into practice.She was so proud of Hunter. 

Hunter said he wasn't interested in Ms Howa' class because he thought he would never use it in his life, but her great teaching helped him know what to do when in trouble. Then he said, "I just thought that doing something was better than doing nothing. "
