Emily Green is my friend. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} April 23rd, 2022, she made an excellent speech in English at a club.

In 1997, Emily was born in a poor family in Beijing. From an early age, she was  {#blank#}2{#/blank#}m teaming English and always spoke English with others. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Emily's family couldn't pay for her study in an English school, she kept learning English by herself.

Many people wanted to know how she learned English so well. Emily enjoyed sharing her experience with {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(In fact, she worked very hard and she found many great{#blank#}5{#/blank#} to learn it well. She learned English every day. She liked to {#blank#}6{#/blank#} to English radio or tapes at breakfast. In class, she listened to all her {#blank#}7{#/blank#} very carefully. After class, she read the words, sentences and texts again and again. She {#blank#}8{#/blank#} down the mistakes in the notebooks. She {#blank#}9{#/blank#} learned English by watching American TV shows. She imitated(模仿) the actors' words {#blank#}10{#/blank#} sentences in the shows. After years of hard work, her English became very good. People liked to talk with her in English.

Animals are man's friends. However, many people don't regard them a{#blank#}1{#/blank#} friends. People k{#blank#}2{#/blank#} animals for their fur, for food and just for fun. People destroy (毁坏) forests to make more space for buildings and roads. This makes many animals lose their food and homes. Every day, many animals lose their lives because o{#blank#}3{#/blank#} people.

Many animals are in d{#blank#}4{#/blank#} now. They may disappear (消失) one day if people do nothing {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(save) them.

Though we have much d{#blank#}6{#/blank#} in protecting animals, we must do something from now on. Every animal has its place in nature. People should learn to share the world with them. {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(luck), many people are trying their best to make the world a {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(good) place for both man and animals than before. Many {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(country) have passed laws (法律), too. If more people start to care about animals, animals{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(live) a happier life on the earth.

Students usually go to school in different ways. In our school, most students get to school between 7:30 and 8:00 in the morning. Some arrive on foot, and some take the bus. However, eighty percent of the students arrive in their parents' cars. The entrance to the school is crowded and dangerous. I think cars are the main problem. I think there are a few things we can do.

First, we should encourage students to take the bus or walk to school. Taking the bus can help cut down air pollution. Walking is healthier, too. Next, what should parents do if their children have to come to school by car? I think their parents should park their cars far away from the school entrance. For example, they can park their cars at the end of the street. Finally, in my opinion, when parents park dangerously in front of the school entrance, they will be punished and have to pay some money—a fine. This way, they will be cautious and think twice before parking.

In a word, cars are making it dangerous for students to enter the school safely. Therefore, encouraging students to walk to school, or asking parents to park away from the school gate could solve this problem.

Some people say it is not easy for a middle-aged person to learn a foreign language. But is it {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(real) true?

Several years ago, I worked for {#blank#}2{#/blank#} English newspaper which was doing such a research. They asked me to learn a new language for one month. Then I had to go to the country and do some "tests" {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(see) if I could "survive(挺过来)" in different situations.

I chose Spanish and one-month course at a language school and {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (find)some Spanish words are very similar to English ones. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} example,"hola" isn't very different from "hello". Of course, there are other things which are more difficult. In Spanish you have to change the verbs for each person. But my {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(big) problem of all was the pronunciation. I found{#blank#}7{#/blank#} very difficult to pronounce some letters in Spanish especially "r" and "j". So I had to download {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(sentence) onto my phone and I listened and practiced them again ang again.

A month later I went to Spain. A Spanish teacher {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(call) Paula came and began the test. "Will I survive?" I wasn't sure enough but {#blank#}10{#/blank#}I wished I would!

Next week, I'll set off on a trip to the mountains with my friends. I've made some {#blank#}1{#/blank#} rules by myself. Here I'd like to share them with you.

Wear proper clothes, strong shoes and thick {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

Do not walk too close to the edge of the hill path.

Do not go off on your own. Keep together.

Do not drink all your water at the very beginning.

Always take care when walking on the path.

Choose {#blank#}3{#/blank#}ways instead of curly ones.

Help each other to put up tents.

If I'm lost, just stand where I am and shout for help.

Keep calm when any sudden danger {#blank#}4{#/blank#}.

I'm so excited about the coming trip that it's difficult for me to {#blank#}5{#/blank#}these days, especially when I think of the exciting rock, fresh air and soft grass.
