Christie lives far from her high school. She travels 50 minutes on the train to get there from her house. Christie has many ways to pass the time when she is on the train to and from her school. She can do one of the following:

Christie never sleeps on the train on Friday mornings, because she has tests that day, and she likes to study on the train. She often writes to three different friends. She sends them each letters about twice a month. If Christie reads a novel on the way to school, she won't read it on the way home.

Ye Jiaying, also known as Florence Yeh, was selected as one of the ten role models who won 2020 Touching China awards, a program by the CCTV.

Ye Jiaying was born into a family of scholars in July 1924 in Beijing. As an expert in the study of classical Chinese literature (文学), she started her lifelong career as a literature teacher in 1945 when she graduated from Fu Jen Catholic Unisersity, which later became part of Beijing Nonnal University.

In 1948, towards the end of the Chinese civil war, Ye and her husband moved to Taiwan. She gained popularity in Taiwan. With students speaking highly of her teaching, she was recruited by Taiwan University, Fu Jen University and Tamkang University to leach Chinese literature.

 In 1966, the couple moved to the United States, where Ye first taught Chinese poetry at Michigan State University and then at Harvard University. Later, they moved to Canada and she worked as a tenured professor at the University of Columbia in Canada.

Beginning in 1979, Ye began spending summers teaching at various Chinese colleges, including famous universities such as Beijing University, Nankai University and Fudan University. She offered her services for free and paid her own travel expenses (开销). She believes that her teaching is the best gift she can offer to the country and later generations.

In 2013, she came back to China and worked in Nankai University. She has settled down in Tianjin since then. The university announced (宣布) that Ye had donated 18.57 million yuan ($2.8 million) to the college to set up the Jiaying Scholarship.

According to the speech which explained why she won the 2020 Touching China awards, Ye Jiaying devoted herself to teaching Chinese poems. She only did one thing in her life, bringing the beauty of ancient Chinese poetry to the world.

One day in ancient Greece, King Hiero asked a crown maker to make him a golden crown. At first, he was very happy with it. 

"It's a nice crown, isn't it?" he asked his men. Later, 

However, he began to doubt that it was a real golden crown. "Is it made completely of gold?" he wondered. He sent it to Archimedes and asked him to find out the truth.

Next, he put two pots into two big bowls and filled both pots with water. He put the gold into one pot, and some water ran into the bowl. Then he put the crown into the other pot. This time, even more water ran into the bowl. 

"Look at this, " said Archimedes to King Hiero. "A crown made completely of gold displaces less water than a crown made of gold and another metal. This crown displaced more water than gold of the same weight, so I'm certain that it's not completely made of gold. "

"The crown maker tricked me, didn't he? What a bad man he is!" shouted King Hiero. He then sent the crown maker to prison. 

Friends are very important in people's lives. Just as a saving goes, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} I think it's very easy to make friends with other people and build a friendship between each other. However, it is not easy to get true friendship, I think. So what is true friendship (友谊)? In my opinion, true friendship includes:

First of all, true friendship must treat their friends loyally and help each other. In other words, you must not take advantage of your friends,{#blank#}2{#/blank#} For example, some unfriendly people make friends in order to cheat money and feelings, or get a certain secret. I don't think these are true friendships.

Second,{#blank#}3{#/blank#} For example, if a friend is really in need of money to escape (逃避) from some troubles, true friends might lend it and help him or her.

Third,{#blank#}4{#/blank#} One of the greatest men once said, " If you tell your happiness to your friend, you will get double happiness I f you tell your sadness to your friend, you will get half."

Rose has four cousins. They are Ann，Betty，Peter and Bill. Rose is the oldest of them five. Betty is thirteen years old. She is two years younger than Rose and one year older than Peter. Bill is nine，and Ann，the youngest，is seven. 

Betty and Peter are good at running. But Peter runs faster. Rose and Ann like to play basketball. Rose plays better than Ann. Bill is the best singer of them five. Rose and Betty study in a middle school. Ann，Peter and Bill study in a primary school. These five children all work hard at their lessons. But Betty works hardest.

I like the Mid-Autumn Festival because all my family members always enjoy ourselves on that day.
