Many students think that learning a new language is very difficult. But if your brain (大脑) is only the same size as a bird's, you will know how difficult it is to learn English. That is what some birds can do.

Many birds can copy (模仿) the sounds of language. A type of African parrot is very good at doing this. This kind of parrot has grey feathers and people say they are clever.

Every December in London, the National Cage and Aviary Bird Show tries to find the best "talking" bird in the world. One bird named Prudle stood out (突出) among the " talking birds"  by winning this prize every year from 1965 to 1977. In 1958, somebody took Prudle from his nest in Uganda, and then sold it to a woman named Iris Frost. She then took care of him at her home in Seaford, England. Before he died in 1994, aged 35, Prudle knew almost 800 words in English. Prudle was also the oldest bird in the world that lived in a cage.

Another parrot named Puck was tested in 1993. It turned out that Puck knew even more words than Prudle. Puck knew more than 1,700 English words. In the 2003 Guinness Book of World Records, Puck was listed as knowing more words than any other bird in the world.

Chinese New Year begins on doors and walls. Spring couplets (春联) stand for people's wishes for a happier {#blank#}1{#/blank#}in the coming year. It has a long history.

The couplets are written on{#blank#}2{#/blank#}paper. They are very important during the Spring Festival. People are very busy before the Spring Festival, but sticking couplets is usually the{#blank#}3{#/blank#}thing to do. When I was a child, my mother would ask me to take some {#blank#}4{#/blank#}to people who wrote couplets for us. When they were writing, I would watch how they used the brush pen(毛笔) to {#blank#}5{#/blank#} these great works.

Later when I was a little older, my parents encouraged me to learn{#blank#}6{#/blank#}to write couplets. I became greatly interested in it. Every time when we{#blank#}7{#/blank#}relatives during the Spring Festival, I was always happy to collect the poems of their couplets. The poems are hopeful words. They{#blank#}8{#/blank#}good wishes like "health, wealth and longevity(长寿)".

Now we can{#blank#}9{#/blank#}buy all kinds of beautiful couplets on the street. But the best wishes of couplets are the same. The red paper and black words are not only for writing the couplets, but also carry our{#blank#}10{#/blank#}for traditional culture. They will never be forgotten.

 As a book lover, I' ve tried both paper books and e- books. While both give you the pleasure of reading, the experience can be quite d{#blank#}1{#/blank#}. 

 Many people p{#blank#}2{#/blank#} reading paper books because they are easy to buy and comfortable to read. Paper books also allow readers to take n{#blank#}3{#/blank#} conveniently. However, some books, such as dictionaries, can be heavy and are not easy to carry around. 

E- books can be stored in a lighter reader. Many e- book readers also have a dictionary for you   to look up new words quickly! However, you can only get e- books online. And you must read  e- books on an e- book reader, a computer, or a smartphone. Moreover, our eyes can get tirede{#blank#}4{#/blank#} when we read e- books on the screen for a long time. 

 In my opinion, t{#blank#}5{#/blank#} more people will try e- books, paper books will not disappear. It doesn't matter which you use as long as it allows you to enjoy reading.
