Barry and Ann are twins(双胞胎), but they like different sports. Barry like soccer. He is in the school soccer club,and he plays soccer every day. He has nine soccer balls in his bookcase. He always likes volleyball. He has two white volleyballs and two blue volleyballs. But Ann doesn't like soccer or volleyball. She likes tennis. Tennis is interesting. She is in the school tennis club and she plays tennis every day. She has  seven tennis balls and two  tennis  rackets in her room. She also likes baseball. She has five baseballs—two green baseballs and three yellow baseballs.

I have always been interested in the animal world. Recently, I read a book about animals called A Lion's Travelling. Chinese writer Shen Shixi wrote it.

The book tells the story of five lions. After they are made to leave their home, one is hurt by a giraffe. Another is killed by a hunter. The third one dies during a fight for water. The fourth lion dies in the river. Only the youngest one, named Red Ribbon, is still alive. After going through many difficulties, he finally becomes the lion king.

The story shows the love and care between friends, the life and death faced by brothers, the determination (决心) to deal with challenges. The fact that the young lion finally becomes the king teaches me a great lesson: Those experiences of going through difficulties will make us stronger. Everyone will face lots of difficulties during their lifetime. We should learn to stay strong and keep finding our better selves.

The book is full of something exciting about the life of lions. Together with lovely pictures, it gives readers a wonderful experience. If you want to read the great story and learn a lot about the animals in the real world, choose it!

Mr. Black retired (退休) five years ago. Now he lives a happy life. He exercises in the morning. He plays with his grandchildren on weekends. Sometimes he goes to parties.

One Sunday evening, after Mr. Black had dinner, he went out for a walk with his granddaughter Jane. They saw three beggars (乞丐) outside the park.

"Why do they beg in the street?" asked the little girl.

"Because they're poor," answered Mr. Black.

"Why don't they find any work?" "Because they're lazy."

"Do you know who is the laziest of them?"

"That's easy," said Mr. Black, he came up to them, took out five dollars and said, "I'll give the money to the laziest of you. Tell me who he is."

"I lost my job a year ago," the first beggar stood up quickly and said, "of course I am!"

"I haven't done any work for two years," the second beggar sat up and said, "give me the money."

The third beggar went on lying on the ground and said, "Come over here, sir. Put the money into my bag!"

The teacher wants the students to talk about their family rules on weekends.

Finding China's Sporting Passion

Thomas J. Scheuer from the US studies at Tsinghua University. He is also a professional(专业的) table tennis player. Why do Chinese players always dominate (占 领 先 地 位 ) the major table tennis events? Scheuer heard that one of the reasons is that there is a large fan base(基础) for the sport in the country. Almost everyone can play a little. To see whether it's true, he went to a park and visited a club to find out. The result surprised him. 

At a park in Beijing, Scheuer saw many old people playing table tennis. A man said that he had been playing the sport for more than 50 years. He plays for two hours every day. He was even named one of the "Beijing Masters" when he was 70. "I've noticed that I'm the youngest player here in the park, " said Scheuer. 

Then Scheuer visited a table tennis club. There, many kids were practising. A boy said he hoped that he could be an excellent player one day. A girl said playing table tennis helped her relax after doing schoolwork. 

The visit made Scheuer truly appreciate(欣赏) the enthusiasm (热情) that Chinese people have for table tennis. 

"Dubbed as China's 'national sport', table tennis is as popular in China as soccer and basketball are worldwide, " Scheuer said. 

 Scheuer was also impressed to find that Chinese people of all age groups take part in the sport, not just to win, but also to have fun, to socialise(交际), and to live a healthy life. Such a spirit(精神) touched him. 

Did you throw something away today? The answer for most people would be yes. But where does our 1  go?

It doesn't just sit in the rubbish bin. Every day, 2  come to take the rubbish from our rubbish bins. They put it into a big truck and 3  it to landfills(垃圾填埋场). At the landfill, people sort(分类) the rubbish. They recycle some, 4  some and bury(埋) the rest of it underground. The more rubbish gets recycled, the 5  the environment will be. It means 6  less rubbish ends up in landfills. 

So many Chinese cities encourage people to sort out their rubbish 7  throwing it away. Put the food in one bag. Put the plastic bottles in another. And throw them in the right rubbish bins. In this way, we can help 8  a lot of time, money and energy for all of the society. 

Many foreign 9  have good sorting systems. So they have higher recycling rates(比率). In Sweden, only 1 percent of household waste 10  in landfills every year. In Japan, people recycle nearly 50 percent of the rubbish. 

There is 11  a lot to do when it comes to rubbish sorting in China. People in the country make about 300 million tons of the rubbish every year. 12  they only recycle less than a quarter of it. The rest of it ends up in landfills. Most of it is unsorted. The good news is that many cities are 13  different ways to make things better. Beijing has started a new programme to 14  rubbish sorting. If people sort out their rubbish, they'll 15  points. They can exchange the points for shopping cards!
