Different cultures have their own manners and customs. For example French like to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (拥抱) or kiss when they greet each other, but others might just s{#blank#}2{#/blank#} hands or bow. It is also a big challenge to {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (表现，举止) well at the dinner table in different countries. For example, Chinese people use chopsticks. They think it's i{#blank#}4{#/blank#} to wave or play with sticks when eating. But Indians don't u{#blank#}5{#/blank#} use forks, knives or spoons for eating food. They prefer eating with their fingers.

People celebrate {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (假期，假日) and festivals in different ways, too. Some cultures have loud music and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (令人激动的) dances to attract event-goers. While in other cultures, people prefer a q{#blank#}8{#/blank#} and relaxing environment.

Things can be very different from the way they are at home. It's important to respect the differences and try to u{#blank#}9{#/blank#} that everyone may have their own way of doing things. Travel more and meet people from different cultures if you had the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (机会). It's a good way to help us learn and appreciate the beauty of diversity.

A friend advises me to say no more often, so I can fix my eyes on what matters most. Personally, I've used his advice to great advantage. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} I've noticed a few areas where people hesitate (犹豫) to say yes. Here's what I suggest you say YES to:

Say yes to challenge (挑战). 

{#blank#}2{#/blank#} Why add any more challenge to your life than you already have? Although there are a few challenges you might have good reasons to say no to, say yes to the challenges that stretch and grow you. My dad has wisely pointed out that I may do best when in a challenging situation. Challenge can bring out the best in you.

It's true that too much fun can be frivolous (无聊的). However, in some cases, it is also easy to get so focused on our work that we forget to enjoy it and have fun. Sometimes you can have fun, but you can make the situation fun by the attitude and energy you bring to it. 

Say yes to opportunity (机会). 

Put yourself in the place full of opportunities. Sometimes opportunity finds you, but more often you have to search for it. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Communicate with people who are making things happen. And when you do find opportunity, don't pass it by because of laziness. 

A. Say yes to fun.

B. Saying no is a skill but so is saying yes.

C. Join groups that challenge and encourage you.

D. It's easy to think you're not able to deal with it.

E. Improving relationships is always something good to say yes to.

The Phone of the Wind, which sits in a garden on top of a hill in the Japanese town of Otsuchi, is now known for helping people do with sadness.

The Phone of the Wind is a white telephone booth(电话亭)，which was made by Itaru Sasaki, a garden designer. In 2010, Sasaki put the phone in his garden as a way to speak to his cousin who died many years ago. Sasaki felt as if he could connect(联系) with his cousin through the phone although the phone inside the booth was disconnected. "Because my thoughts couldn't be taken over a common phone, I wanted them to be taken by the wind," he said.

In 2011, a tsunami(海啸) hit northeastern Japan and killed over 1, 500 people in Otsuchi. To help the many people who had lost family members or friends in the tsunami, Sasaki decided to ____▲____. The phone gave people a chance to say all the things they never got a chance to say to their loved ones. A notebook could also be found inside the booth in which people could write messages for their loved ones. Since then, the telephone booth has helped thousands of people get through the hardest time.

Sasaki's Phone of the Wind has inspired others around the world. In 2017. Altruchas, an artist in California USA, made a phone after his friend and 35 others died in a fire. Earlier in 2021, a similar phone was put on Colorado's Aspen Mountain for people who lost loved ones because of the COVID-19.

"Loss is a natural part of the human experience. When we lose someone close to us, it makes us miss them for the rest of our lives," said Altruchas, "Sasaki's Phone of the Wind does help make it a little bit easier to overcome our sadness."

Betty has a new jacket. She likes it because there are different letters(有不同的字母) on it and they are in different colors.

The first letter is D. It's blue — the color of the sky(天空). The letter R is yellow. It's a beautiful color — the color of the sunflower(向日葵). The letter E is red. It's the color of the apple. The letter A is purple(紫色的). It's Betty's favorite color. Look! Her cap is purple, too! What color is the letter M? It's green. Betty's sister, Rita, likes the color best.

The new jacket is very beautiful. Betty likes to wear it to school.

Duanwu Festival, or the Dragon Boat Festival, is celebrated everywhere in China. It is a t{#blank#}1{#/blank#} festival when people can have three days o{#blank#}2{#/blank#}. There are many activities,i{#blank#}3{#/blank#} dragon boat races, eating zongzi, hanging healthy herbs and so on.

The most important activity of this festival is the Dragon Boat races. Competing teams drive their colorful dragon boats forward as quickly as they can. All the people cheer for them b{#blank#}4{#/blank#} the river. They believe the {#blank#}5{#/blank#}（响亮的）their voice is, the faster the dragon boats will run. This opinion {#blank#}6{#/blank#}（留下，保持）unbroken. As for the food, a very popular {#blank#}7{#/blank#}（盘；菜肴）during the Dragon Boat Festival is zongzi. Eating zongzi shows people's miss for Quyuan who d{#blank#}8{#/blank#} two thousand years ago.

This month is also a {#blank#}9{#/blank#}（度假旺季；节期）that insects and pests are active and people are more likely to catch diseases. Chinese will hang lucky leaves on the doors or windows for people believe they can clear the bad luck of the house and the insects are {#blank#}10{#/blank#}（不能的）to come close to their houses.

Although the meaning of the festival might be different from the past, it still gives people a chance to know the rich Chinese culture.
