I went to Grand Canyon (大峡谷) National Park in July 2012 for the firsttime and I knew I wanted to work there as a park ranger（管理员）. Park rangers protect the park's animals, plants, land, buildings, andpeople.

Now, as a park ranger forGrand Canyon National Park, I share the science, history and beauty of this parkwith thousands of visitors from around the world.

National parks are like outdoormuseums. Park rangers have all kinds of jobs, depending on where they work and whatthey studied during college. I teach school field trips（实地考察）, work at visitor centers and helppeople stay safe during their visit.

My favorite part of my jobis showing children their first look at the Grand Canyon during school field trips.Children are often amazed at the canyon's size and colors. Sometimes, they thinkit looks like a painting.

Being a park ranger requiresa lot of energy. I walk several miles and talk with hundreds of people each day.Park rangers must enjoy working with people and speaking in front of groups. Nearly5 million people visit Grand Canyon National Park every year.

Park rangers must also beprepared for any situation. Recently, I broke a traffic jam(堵塞). It was caused by a huge elk（麋鹿）standing in the road. Elks can become dangerous when they get scared,so I asked visitors to stop their cars and take pictures from far away. Believeit or not, I also help protect people from monkeys. It is not allowed to feed animalsin national parks. But sometimes, visitors try to feed monkeys.

Colin walked out of the shopping center with his head down. There were many wonderful Mother's Day gifts there, but they were too expensive. He had only saved four{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(dollar).

"Why don't you make {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(she) something?" Colin's older sister Whitney asked. "Remember the poem I{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(write) for Mom last year? She loved it so much." Colin knew it was true. The poem hung above the fireplace. But Colin wasn't good{#blank#}4{#/blank#}writing poems.

"It doesn't need{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(be) a poem," Whitney said. "It could be anything that makes her think of you whenever she sees it. That's why homemade gifts are special." "But I don't know how to make anything Mom would{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(actual) want,"Colin said.

"Yes, you do! You're always drawing those funny little comics (漫画). Why don't you do a comic of Mom? She would love it!"

Colin thought about the idea{#blank#}7{#/blank#}whole way home. He spent the next two days drawing in his room. Finally it{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(finish)!" On the morning of Mother's Day, Colin gave it to mom. He held his breath as his mom looked at it. "This is{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(good) gift you've ever given me, Colin," his mother said tearfully. "I know just where to put it," his dad said with a smile. He hung it next to Whitney's poem above the fireplace. Colin looked up at the comic. "{#blank#}10{#/blank#} a perfect work it is!" Colin said to himself.

My name is Steve. I'm thirteen years old. I'm a high school student. The girl in pink is my sister, Mary. And the girl in red is my sister, too. Her name is Jane. They look the same. They both(两者都) have big eyes and blond hair. The boy in white is my friend, Jack. He has a big nose and short hair. We are in the same class.

 When shopping for clothes, my mother and I have always disagreed on what fits me well. To me, if it zips, it fits. My mom, however, usually tells me I need a bigger size.

 When I was a teenager, I wanted to dress like my friends, but my body size made it impossible. When mo m told me something didn't suit me, or I needed a bigger size, all I heard was that my body was wrong.

 To avoid arguments, we stopped going shopping together. This continued until  I got engaged(订婚) last year and needed to buy some clothes. When I tried on a blouse. my mother looked at me, and I knew what was coming." You need a bigger size," she said.

 There was no bigger size. I tried to hold back my tears. Maybe I could buy it alone, of course, but my mom is my favorite person to hang out with The idea of looking for a wedding dress without her seemed just as scary as taking her with me.

 And so the day came. As I tried on a simple white dress. I saw tears in my mom's eyes. " You look beautiful! " she told me. Nothing could have shocked me more.

 This one didn't zip up at the back and I did actually need a bigger size, but my mother didn't say that. She just told me how beautiful I looked. In that moment, all the argument s in the past ended. We didn't buy a dress that day.

 We decided to see more, which I would never have predicted.

A few weeks later, we found the perfect dress. We both loved it as soon as I put it on. And during those few weeks, mom and I also found the perfect fit for our shopping relationship.
