Where would you like to stay when you go on a vacation? What kind of hotel would you like to choose? Different people have different ideas. In fact, there are all kinds of special places to stay when you go on a vacation. There are hotels, motels, youth hostels, B&Bs (bed-and-breakfast), home stays, and more. Each is for a different kind of people. If you travel by car, a motel is good for you. You can park your car outside your room. A youth hostel is good for young backpackers (背包客). A B&Bs might be best for couples (夫妻) or anybody who doesn't like being noisy.

    For people who like reading, the library hotel in New York is a must-see. Each of the hotel's 60 rooms is full of books. In fact the hotel has over 6, 000 books in all. If history is your thing, the 9th floor is for you. If you are interested in math and science, you can stay on the 5th floor. Artists will feel at home on the 7th floor. The Poetry Garden is on the 14th floor, and there is a cozy sofa in it. You can sit on the sofa and enjoy reading a good book or relax outside in the Poetry Garden.

"Everybody loves bargain (减价品). " is a famous saying. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} In our daily life, one person's useless or broken object may be another person's bargain. That is why Americans don't throw things away. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} And they put up a "For Sale" sign to have a yard sale. 

Over the years, many people's houses have been filled useless objects. It seems wasteful to throw them away. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} The sellers put an ad (广告) in a newspaper first. It tells others when and where the yard sale will take place. Early in the morning, people take their things out of the house. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

Anything can be sold at a yard sale, such as old toys, tools, books, tables and chairs. Some people go to yard sales to find a special thing. However, some people don't sell their old things. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Later, they may hold their own yard sales to sell all the things they have bought. 

The chrysanthemum(菊花)is a very popular flower in China. The beautiful flower bas many m{#blank#}1{#/blank#} in Chinese culture. 

The chrysanthemum is k{#blank#}2{#/blank#} as one of the "Four Gentlemen in Plants". The other three are the plum blossom, the orchid, and bamboo. In the past, they stood for noble (高尚的)qualities. 

The chrysanthemum comes out in bright colors during cold a{#blank#}3{#/blank#} days when most flowers die. They are beautiful, strong and tough. The flower thus greatly inspired (启 发)ancient Chinese poets. They spoke highly of its beauty and also used the chrysanthemum to represent(代表)their o{#blank#}4{#/blank#}in their works. 

Tao Yuanming was a f{#blank#}5{#/blank#} poet. He once wrote a poem about living as a hermit(隐士) . He described how he loved the chrysanthemum and used it to show his s{#blank#}6{#/blank#} in the poem. 

"I pluck chrysanthemums under the eastern hedge, and gaze afar toward the southern mountains(采菊东篱下, 悠然见南山), "Tao wrote in his poem. Since then, the chrysanthemum has become the s{#blank#}7{#/blank#} of the hermit. But the chrysanthemum is not only found in Chinese poems. It is also p{#blank#}8{#/blank#} of Chinese food. 

The Chongyang Festival falls on the ninth day of the ninth month of the lunar year. On that day, drinking wine made from chrysanthemums is a popular tradition. Chrysanthemum tea is also usually seen on Chinese dinner tables. It tastes great. People believe it is good for one's health, e{#blank#}9{#/blank#} for eyes. 

In a word, the chrysanthemum has i{#blank#}10{#/blank#}people's life deeply and widely.

Many people often meet such a difficult situation. It's that they don't know the way in new places, and they are too shy to ask people the way.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}

First, we must know some useful expressions, such as "Could you please. . . " "Excuse me" and "Thanks a lot". For example, when we want to ask a stranger the way, we should say "Excuse me" first. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}"Could you please. . . " is often used while asking for the direction. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}It's also polite to shake hands with the strangers. 

Second, we often need to take some useful things with us. They usually include pens, special maps. phones and so on. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}We can write down the keywords about the place and then we can show them to the strangers who we want to ask for help. Of course, the phones can help us find our correct way. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}Then we can show the pictures about it to the strangers when asking for directions.
