Bookworm

This shop has second-hand books for all tastes, but customers will have to visit in person and look around as Bookworm doesn't have a website. The best books here are about medicine and traveling. Opening times: 8:30 am ~ 4:30 pm.

Westwood's

There's no space to sit down in this tiny back street bookshop, and the owner is often too busy to talk. On the first floor are children's books. And on the second floor are books for adults. Books can be ordered from the shop's website. Opening times: 8:00 am ~ 5:00 pm.

Holt

Although the books here are a little expensive, the fun of Holt is its lively atmosphere (氛围). It's in an old railway station, where customers can enjoy afternoon tea and cakes in the waiting room. No online service is available. Opening times: 9:00 am ~ 3:30 pm.

Scrimshaw's

Scrimshaw's has many books showing the works of great painters. Most of them are in excellent condition. Scrimshaw's has comfortable sofas and freshly made coffee. And a large number of school textbooks are on sale every October. Scrimshaw's also has online ordering service. Opening times: 9:30 am~6:30 pm.

Hua Long Zoo

We have many animals from Africa such as lions, zebras and giraffes. This weekend, we are going to have an activity(活动) especially for children. You and your children can know more about Africa and African animals at the activity.

A top fishing award

 Lucy Moore, a 12-year-old girl from Maryland, is the first girl and youngest person to get the Master Angler Milestone Award (奖). The award is for those who catch 10 different "trophy-size" (super big) fish. Moore began fishing at the age of two. She caught her 10th different fish which is big enough in May. Moore said she was "filled with joy" about the prize. 

A new way of studying sounds

 Scientists have found a new way for people to learn about animal sounds. Using technology (技术) that was made for studies of brain waves (脑电波) at the first place, they are able to study the sounds of elephants, whales, cassowaries, and crocodiles. It is helping us know Elephants more about animals' calls and the effect (影响) of noise to their health.

Meet Apollo, a 4-year-old parrot, as clever as a young child, broke a Guinness World Record (吉尼斯世界纪 录) by naming 12 things in three minutes, such as a book and a pen. Apollo lives in Florida with his owners, who are training him to be "the smartest parrot". When not showing off his skills, he enjoys relaxing in the sun, playing with toys and eating nuts.
