Athletes from various countries displayed the charm of competition sports during Beijing Winter Olympics. One of the reasons why this Winter Olympics can be successfully held is the robots who work hard behind the scenes. 

In the dining hall, instead of human waiters, food arrives from the ceiling. To our surprise, the cooking robot can make delicious dishes according to the programs; food even like burgers are being prepared automatically. 

It doesn't stop there. Elsewhere in the media center, a robotic arm is serving up cocktails. It takes just 70-90 seconds to measure, shake and serve. 

Look at this robot. Although it is only 140 cm tall, it only takes one minute to sterilize（灭菌）36 square meters. The space even more than 1,000 square meters can be easily dealt by itself. The robot can hold 16 liters of disinfection（消毒）water at one time, and spray（喷雾）around through the small fan above its head. 

When 1949 meets 2023

Hi, I'm Hanhan, a student from Beijing. I was born in 2008. In the past 15 years, everyone's life changed a lot. My grandfather Jianguo feels (感觉) the same. He was born in1949. "When I was your age, life was very different," he said to me. But how was it different? I'm going to talk to him.

Jianguo: When I was born, many families were poor (贫穷的). Most people could spend only about 50 yuan a year.

Hanhan: In 2023, most people spent about 30,000 yuan a year. It increased a lot. I have some pocket money (零花钱). I use it to buy my favourite toys.

Jianguo: In 1949, about 75% of Chinese people could not read or write. Going to school was a dream (梦想) for many people.

Hanhan: Now almost everyone can go to primary and junior high schools. In some poor places, students can enjoy free meals after class. We have good chances to make our dreams come true.

Jianguo: I used to (过去) live in a hutong with my family. My brother and I shared a small room.

Hanhan: My family lives in a tall building. I have my own bedroom, but life in the hutong sounds (听起来) so interesting.

It's 2030. There are three robots in my family— Gina, Greg and Tom.

Gina is mum's good helper. She is 40em tall. Two cameras are her eyes and two wheels are her feet. She is easy-going and acts like a lovely housewife.She does a lot of housework, such as cooking, washing and cleaning. Our house is tidy because of her.

Greg is a smart robot. He can help us get information. Dad loves him. Every morning, Dad asks him,"What's the weather like today, Greg?"Greg will connect itself to the Internet and find the weather report soon. This morning, Greg told Dad,"It will rain today, Mr Black. Please bring an umbrella with you."Did Dad take the umbrella? Yes, of course.

What does Tom do in my family? He plays with me. Tom is good at playing chess. He always wins. He can also. dance and play table tennis with me. Thank you, Tom. With your help, I'm smart and strong.

Do you like reading books? Some people may say yes. Reading is a good habit(习惯). They think reading is interesting. In Beijing, you can see some sharing(共享) bookstores. You can read and borrow(借) books there. But you can only get two books once(一次).

Readers can use their mobile phones to borrow some books. Then they can take these books home. But they must give a deposit(押金) of 99 yuan. There are many books in the sharing bookstores. People can keep these books for 10 days and they don't need to give the sharing bookstores money(钱). After they read books, they must return them to the bookstores. Then they can get one yuan as a reward(奖励). 

Now there are many sharing bookstores in Beijing. The bookstores want people to read more books and give people lots of fun. More and more people are interested in reading now.

Now, camping is getting popular among young people. It's a great way to be outside and enjoy nature. If you like to be in trees, mountains or by the lake, you are sure to have a good time when you go camping. Here is some advice for camping.

You need to put up your tent only in a safe (安全的) place. If you put up your tent in other places, you may meet dangers. Remember to do it for your safety.

Fire may be not safe, so use fire only when you must. Make sure to put the fire out（熄灭) when you don't use it. Don't go away or sleep when the fire is on.

Don't forget to take your phone, and you can take photos of the beautiful trees and flowers. You can see the beautiful natural sights (风景). Later, you will feel relaxed.

Sometimes, we may go to the deep (深的) forest. And it's easy for us to get lost. People often get lost in the forest. It's a good way to take a map with you. Now, we have GPS in our phones. Maps and GPS can help you when you get lost.
