Susan is a Chinese girl. She lives in Beijing with her parents. It's eight o'clock in the morning. The1is sunny. But it's still very cold. Susan is2English in her room. She learns English for an hour every day. She wants to learn it well so she studies very3. Susan's father is reading a newspaper.4father usually reads newspapers in the morning. Where is Susan's mother? She is5breakfast for them in the kitchen. She prepares (准备) some hot milk. She thinks hot milk can make them6in winter.

Tony is9at the table with his family. They are having dinner. Tony eats much chicken and some carrots. He also drinks some orange10

On a winter morning, a little boy of 10 years old or so went to a phone supermarket to make a telephone call. Clearly, he changed his tone (腔调) of voice while speaking over the phone. When all this was happening, the phone supermarket owner watched and listened with great interest to the conversation that followed:

"Madam, I am a poor boy. Can you give me a job cutting grass on your lawn (草坪)?" the little boy asked.

"Sorry, I already have someone to cut my lawn," the woman at the other end of the phone line answered.

"Madam, I will cut your lawn for half the price of the person who cuts your lawn now."

"The person who is now cutting my lawn satisfies me a lot. He is doing a good job."

"Madam, I'll even sweep your curb (清扫路边), so on Sunday you will have the prettiest lawn in all of Palm beach, Florida."

"No, thank you."

Instead of getting angry, the little boy smiled and put back the receiver (话筒) gently. The supermarket owner, who was listening to the conversation, walked over to the boy and said, "Soon, I like your manner and I would like to offer you a job."

"No, thanks. But I will remember your offer."

"But you were asking for a job so sincerely and seriously when you were talking to the lady over the phone."

"No sir, I was just checking how well or badly I've done the job I already have. I am the one who is working for that lady I was talking to!" the little boy said.

It was a happy time for me, but there were many dangers because of my small size. There are some incidents (事件) that I remembered clearly. 

 Every morning Glumdalclitch (格伦达克利奇) carried my box to the window. One day she carried me to the window as usual, and then she left me there. Some huge wasps (黄蜂) came in through the window, and came into the box. They were the size of birds in England, and they were very fierce(凶猛的). I was afraid of them. I took out my sword (剑) and fought them. I killed four of them. Luckily, the others flew away. 

Another dangerous moment that I remembered was this: Glumdalclitch left me in the garden one day, and the weather was very bad. First it rained, and then it hailed (下冰雹) very hard. The hail- stones were the size of tennis balls, and they hurt me badly. I managed to hide under a tree, but I was still hit by some of them.

"I can't find time to learn English. "Robert says to Frank. 

"You can use pockets of time. We have ten1 now before breakfast. Why not begin?" says Frank. 

"Ten minutes. That's nothing. I must2 my dog now. " Robert answers and takes his dog aside. 

After breakfast, the two boys take a bus to school. It3 them 20 minutes to get there. On the way, Frank begins to remember something in English, but Robert 4 songs all the way. 

"let's play5 !"some friends say after school. Robert runs after those boys. Frank spends (花费) 30 minutes on English in the classroom. Then he plays volleyball with the boys. The two boys are 6 in the evening and go to bed early. 

The 7 day, the English teacher asks them some questions. Frank answers every question8 . But Robert's face turns 9 without saying a word. 

How do you find time to learn English, Frank? He asks. 

"I have 10 minutes before breakfast and 20 minutes on the bus. I have 30 minutes before the volleyball game. I am trying to 10 any time" says Frank.

This is my new classroom. In the classroom you can see many desks {#blank#}5{#/blank#}chairs.  A blackboard, a clock and a map of China are {#blank#}6{#/blank#}the wall. On a desk you can see some pencils. The {#blank#}7{#/blank#} one is mine. The green one is Mike's. Kate's pencil isn't there. Her pencil {#blank#}8{#/blank#} in her backpack (背包).
