I was doing some last-minute Christmas shopping in a toy store. A nicely dressed little girl was 1 the teddy bears beside her father 2 she saw a little boy walk in and stop in front of the Pokemon toys. His jacket was obviously too small. He had money in his hand. However, it looked no more than five dollars at most. He was with his father, and kept picking up the Pokemon video games. Each time he showed 3 to his father, his father shook his head, "No".

    Rather disappointed, the boy gave up the video games and chose a book of stickers 4. After they walked away, the little girl ran over to the Pokemon video games. She excitedly picked up one 5 on top of the others, and ran toward the check-out. I picked up my purchases（购买物）and 6 the girl and her father.

    Then, much to the little girl's satisfactory（满意）, the little boy and his father got in line 7 her and me. After the video was paid for and bagged, the little girl handed it back to the cashier（收银员）and said something to her in a low voice. The cashier smiled and put the 8 under the counter（柜台）. I was putting things in my bag when the little boy came up to the cashier. The cashier said, "Congratulations, you're my hundredth customer today, and you win a prize!" and she handed the boy the Pokemon game. The boy could hardly believe his ears. It was, he said, 9 what he had wanted! The little girl and her father had been standing at the doorway, and I saw the biggest and prettiest smile on that little girl I have seen in my life.

    I suddenly understood that the world is not 10 into the strong who care and the weak who are cared for. We must each in turn care and be cared.

One afternoon, Mrs. Stone decided to visit her friend Mrs. King. Mrs. King lived in a nice house with a large garden far from the city center. Mrs. Stone took her dog with her. While the women were having coffee outside the house, the dog was running around in the garden. The two friends were very unpleasantly surprised when the dog appeared after some time with a dead rabbit in his mouth. Mrs. King began to feel sick because she knew that her neighbor kept rabbits in a hutch（笼子） in his garden. As the dog and the rabbit were both covered with earth and dirt, the women took the rabbit and carefully cleaned it in the bathroom. When it got dark, they went quietly through the trees into the neighbor's garden and put the dead rabbit into the hutch.

The next afternoon Mrs. King's neighbor, the one with the rabbit, found her in the garden, called her over. She walked towards the neighbor and she felt very afraid because she knew that she did something wrong. "You know what?" her neighbor said. "Yesterday morning I found one of my rabbits dead in the hutch. So I put it in the ground in the garden and this morning," he started to whisper, "it's back to the hutch! I'm going to take it to a right pet cemetery."

My dad bought me a new Jeep when I was 17，but the real gift was what he taught me about life through this car. very month, on the first day, he asked me to pay him $150 if I wanted to continue driving my Jeep. If I didn't pay， I couldn't drive my car（or "his car"，as he often reminded me（所有权））.My dad was（and still is）a successful businessman，＄150 was more than I usually made every month.I had to work harder. Although I was unhappy about my father's request，I always made sure to give him ＄150 on the first day of each month.

The day I graduated from high school，my dad pulled me into his office at our house for a talk.

"Kevin，"he gave me a white box and said，"here is your graduation present. To be honest，this is actually a present you gave yourself."I opened the box carefully，and almost started crying when I realized he just gave me ＄3，600! It was 24 car payments that he had saved for the last two years.Every payment I gave him went straight into this box.By asking me to pay him every month，how to use my money and how to be responsible.My dad is and will forever be the best man I have ever known.

Four years later he gave me the title to the Jeep，as my college graduation gift.

Three hours, thirty-five minutes and thirty seconds. It took Belachew Girma the 1 to set a world record (纪录). This man from Ethiopia didn't set a world record for running or jumping. He set the world record for laughing. That's 2 ! Belachew Girma laughed for more than 3 hours without (没有) 3 !

However, Belachew Girma didn't always like to laugh. In fact, he wasn't very happy in the past. After his wife (妻子) died, Belachew Girma thought he would 4 laugh again. Then, someone taught him how to laugh. Belachew Girma started to know: laughing made him feel good. So he wanted to laugh all the time.

Belachew Girma practiced laughing night and day. The only time he didn't practice laughing was when he was 5 . Someone told Belachew Girma about a laughter 6 and he decided to take part in it. He went on practicing his laughing 7 . After laughing for over 3 hours, Belachew Girma 8 the competition. He 9 a world record holder (持有人)! He didn't have time to be sad or to worry 10 he was always laughing.

Belachew Girma wanted to help 11 by laughing. He travelled around the world to 12 with people about his experience (经验). To Belachew himself, laughing saved his 13 . Today, he finds poor kids and teaches them to laugh. When kids laugh, it 14 their sadness. The laughing makes them feel much happier and 15 . It helps make their lives better.

Belachew Girma knows: The more he laughs, the more others laugh too. By laughing, he expects to make the world a happier place.

Last summer holiday, I went bungee jumping (蹦极) with my best friend, Tony. I was very happy at first. But while Tony was going up, I just stood on the {#blank#}1{#/blank#}because I was a bit afraid. "Come on, Bill.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} me!" Tony said. I thought about it for a while and went up. I took all the things out of my pocket. I tried twice. Then I jumped and {#blank#}3{#/blank#} down. It was fast. Finally, I {#blank#}4{#/blank#} safely. I was so {#blank#}5{#/blank#} that I wanted to go bungee jumping again. 

This morning, I went camping along a path in Green Natural Park with my friends. We were happy because it was a sunny day. We were expecting an enjoyable two- day holiday. On the way, we kept singing and making jokes. 

However, in the afternoon, when we finished our picnic at one o'clock, it was dark and windy.  Soon there was a shower. Unluckily, none of us brought an umbrella. We ran about but we could find no place to hide. 

Twenty minutes passed and it was still raining. There were hours to go before we could reach the campsite (野营地). It was even worse that our small compass showed that we went the wrong way. We lost our way!

We had to make a quick decision as it was raining heavily. Chris said we could set up a tent to hide in, so Mary and Tom helped to set up the tent. Chris and I tried to make a fire to keep us warm. But we were unable to light the fire,  ▲ . We dried ourselves, chatted and waited inside the tent. At about five o'clock, it stopped raining. We decided to give up the camping trip because all of us were very tired. 

This camping trip may not be very successful but we have got to know each other better. And the most important thing I've learned from this trip is the importance of teamwork.
