Hand in Hand

Hello, everyone. I am Amy. This is my new friend Sally from the village school. She lives near a nature park. The nature park is big. There are two lakes in the park. She often goes boating there on the weekend. She gets up early and goes to bed early every day. Sally doesn't watch TV or play with a computer too much. She thinks it's not good for her eyes. She likes sports. She often swims and plays ping-pong. These sports make her strong.Sally also eats lots of vegetables and fruit. She likes fruit but not bananas.

Sally is hard-working, too. Her English is not good. She often asks me for help. She doesn't go out to play on Fridays because she has English after school on that day. She studies hard.

Tom is seven. He goes to school every day. The school is near his home. So he goes there on foot and comes back home on time (准时). But today he is late. His mother asks him, "Why are you late today?" "I was in the teachers' office.'' "Why did you go to the teachers' office?" "Because my teacher asked us a question in class, and nobody (没有人) could answer it, but me." "It's good to answer the teacher's questions." "But the question was ‘Who put the ink (墨水)on my chair?'"

One day, a Chinese student goes to study English in England. His family name is Sun. It is the1 as the word ‘sun' .

England is a country with bad weather. It is often cloudy or misty(多雾的), and it2 again, so the days there don't get 3 sunshine all the year.

When the Chinese student gets to London, a tall 4 policeman with a long face opens his passport to check it. The policeman finds the Chinese name ‘sun' in the passport.

He5 it is pronounced(发音) just like the English word ‘sun'. So he says to the Chinese student, ‘I see your name is Sun, you're wanted here. You bring sunshine6 England, so we don't want you to go away.' They smile.

Mini school brings fun

When the COVID-19 pandemic spread in the US, all students stayed at home. Lily opened a mini 'school' for her sister, Lucy and Lucy's best friend, Karen, in a garage（车库）.

After dusting the cobwebs（蜘蛛网）and sweeping the floor, the garage was finally clean enough. Later,Lily brought in a few tables and chairs, lots of paper, a whiteboard and a bag of markers（马克笔）.

The class began every day at about 3:00 in the afternoon till evening. Karen's mother, Emma, paid Lily $1 a day and Lily's mom did the same thing. When Lucy and Karen first arrived, Lily taught the girls how to count numbers. She also drew many pictures on paper with a black marker to teach the girls how to color.

They did different activities every day. One time, they drew pictures of themselves on the paper plates， decorated（装饰）them and put them on the wall. During the break，they played in the driveway. Sometimes, other friends joined in the fun until the moon lit the dark night sky.

Lily really enjoyed being a teacher and she hopes she can get more chances（机会）to teach soon!
