A bus stops at the bus station. It's 8:30 a.m. Mr.Green looks out of the window and he sees a young woman. The woman is selling cakes. People from other buses buy a lot. He also wants to buy one. He doesn't have breakfast at home this morning. But the woman is far from his bus. And he doesn't want to go out.

At that time, he sees a boy. He is not far from the bus. "Come here, boy!" Mr. Green calls to him.

"Do you know how much those cakes are?"Mr. Green asks the boy." Thirty cents for one," the boy answers.

Mr. Green gives sixty cents to the boy and asks him to buy two cakes. Mr.Green says,"One cake is for you and the other is for me."

After five minutes(分钟), the boy comes back with one cake（蛋糕）. He eats the cake and gives thirty cents to Mr.Green and says, "There is only one left."

A few weeks ago, I went into Chase's class for help. I e-mailed Chase's teacher one evening and said, "My son keeps telling me that his homework is maths, but I'm not sure whether I should believe him. Help, please." She e-mailed right back and said, "No problem! I can help Chase after school anytime." And I said, "No, not him. Me. He gets it Help me."

And that's why I stayed with Chase's maths teacher. We talked about teaching children. We agreed that subjects like maths and reading are not the most important things that are learned in a classroom. We also talked about something else--kindness and bravery. 

And then she told me this. 

Every Friday afternoon Chase's teacher asks her students to take out a piece of paper and write down whom they'd like to sit with the following week. She also asks the students to nominate (推荐) who is the most popular student that week. They needn't write down their names on the paper. 

After the students go home, she takes out those pieces of paper and studies them. In fact, Chase's teacher is not looking for a new seating chart (表) or "popular students". She is looking for lonely children. She's looking for the ones who don't want to talk with others. She is finding out whose names are not noticed by their classmates.     ★        

After watching Columbine, the wise woman knew that all violence (暴力) comes um loneliness. So she decided to start fighting violence early and often, and what she is doing is SAVING LIVES. 

And she finds the lonely kids from those lists and tries to help them. It's maths to her. All is love--even Maths. 

The Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated on May 5 of the lunar calendar (农历). Eating zongzi and racing dragon boat are the most important traditions to memorize Qu Yuan. He jumped into Miluo River and died. Local people decided to throw food into the river to feed the fish so that they wouldn't eat Qu's body.

Tomb-Sweeping Day

Every year in early April, people in China visit that tombs (墓) of their ancestors(祖先). It is Tomb-Sweeping Day. On that day, Chinese families will sweep the tombs and clean away the grass around them. Then they burn paper money and put flowers and fruits in front of the tombs.

The Laba Festival

There is a festival called the Laba Festival before the Spring Festival. It has been a long tradition that people eat Laba porridge to celebrate the event that day. Laba porridge is the most important dish for the Laba Festival. In general, It is made by rice, nuts, grains (谷物) and dried fruits.

Dragon head-raising day（龙抬头）

People believe that getting a haircut during the first lunar month is not a good idea. After a month's wait, people usually cut their hair on Dragon Head-Raising Day—the second day of the second lunar month. It was once a tradition to line up outside the barber shops(理发店) on this day.

Mary is a three-year-old girl. One day, her parents can't find her in the house. 

"Where is Mary? Is she in the garden(花园)?" Asks Mrs Brown. 

"Maybe(可能) you are right. Let's go to the garden, " says Mr Brown. 

When they come to the garden, they see Mary sitting under a tree. 

"Hello, My name is Mary. Good morning. Glad to meet you here. I like green, and I like eating bananas. What do you like?"

"Who are you talking to, Mary?" asks Mr and Mrs Brown. 

"I'm talking to my new friends, " Mary says. 

Who is Mary talking to? Do you know? She is talking to some ants(蚂蚁) under the tree. What a lovely(可爱的) girl she is!

I'm a student in No.2 middle school. I want 1 you something about my new classroom. It is nice 2 clean. What's in the classroom? Look, a long blackboard and a flag 3 in the front of the classroom. 4 flag is red and I think it's very beautiful. There are thirty-eight small desks and 5 . This is a teacher's desk. A computer is on the big desk. Teachers use it to give us classes. We can also use it for study.

Let's look at the back wall. You can see 6 beautiful photos. We took them together. Our teacher puts them 7 the wall so everyone can see them. What is this on the floor? Oh, it's our volleyball. Most of the students like 8 volleyball in our class and we are good at it. Every Friday afternoon, we play it 9 on the sports field. We 10 a volleyball game at school next week. I think my classroom is great! Do you like my classroom?

There is no way you can get on the train without your ID card now. In the near future, people will use a digital (数字的) ID on their smartphones. What a great thing it is!

On March 11, 2022, the government (政府) said it would introduce (介绍) the digital ID cards with 18 numbers. People can know some information from the ID numbers. The government wanted to make people's lives easier by introducing the digital ID cards.

The government said the digital ID cards could allow the information to be gotten by a simple scan with a smartphone. The government would also help the old people use the digital ID cards because they can't use smartphones. The government hoped that the digital ID cards would be popular. The old could also use ID cards to make their lives easier.

In fact, China started a test of the digital ID cards in 2018. It allowed people in cities including Quzhou, Hangzhou and Fuzhou to apply for digital national ID cards on Alipay. The digital ID cards could be used to open bank accounts, check into hotels and buy high-speed railway tickets. It's great.
