Humans are mammals (哺乳动物). Most mammals are born able to do many things.

Some can walk within a few minutes of being born. They have to be able to run away if 1 is near. But human babies are born 2. They need the care of adults to live.

In the first month of life, babies can not smile or sit up. They can not even hold up their own heads 3 some help from grown-ups.

In the next few months, babies grow a lot. They learn to roll over, support their heads, and 4 sit up while being held.

Before she had drunk half the bottle, she found her head pressing against the ceiling (天花板), and had to stop to save her neck from being broken. She hastily put down the bottle, saying to herself, "That's quite enough. I can't get out at the door. I hope I will not grow any more."

However, it was too late to wish that! She went on growing, and growing, and very soon she had to kneel down on the floor. In another minute, she tried to lie down with one elbow against the door, and the other arm curling round her head. Still she went on growing. She put one arm out of the window and one foot up the chimney, and said to herself, "Now I can do no more, whatever happens. What will become of me?"

Luckily for Alice, the little magic bottle had now had its full effect, and she grew no larger. Still it was very uncomfortable, and there seemed to be no chance for her to get out of the room. She felt unhappy. 

"It was much pleasanter at home," thought poor Alice, "when one wasn't always growing larger and smaller, or being ordered by mice and rabbits. I almost wish I hadn't gone down that rabbit hole!"

"But it was rather curious (不寻常的). I wondered what would happen to me! When I used to read fairy tales, imagined that kind of thing never happened! There should be a book written about me! And when I grow up, I'll write one…but I'm grown-up now," she added, "at least there's no room to grow up any more in here."

"But then," thought Alice, "will I never get any older than I am now? That'll be a comfort, but I will always have lessons to learn! Oh, I shouldn't do like that!"

Jing Baoshan is 69 years old. He lives a quite special life in Pinglu, Shanxi. Jing's given name, "Baoshan", means "protecting (保护) the mountains".

In 1970, 18-year-old Jing joined the People's Liberation Army of China, and then he worked in the Tanggula Mountains for 17 years. In 1987, Jing returned to his hometown in Pinglu and became a forest ranger (护林员). He loved the forest and said the trees were all his children.

Jing patrolled (巡查) the forest once a week. He took a hatchet (手斧) to protect himself from dangerous animals during the 30-km walking. At the lookout tower (塔), he also used a telescope (望远镜) to watch the forest once an hour and reported to his workmates every three days. He wrote his diary under a candle and talked to stars when he felt lonely (孤独的).

Jing retired (退休) in 2012. During his 25 years of service, Jing helped fight forest fires many times. There was a forest fire in 2000. Unluckily, four villagers died. He cried (哭) sadly and decided to protect the forest for the rest (剩下的) of his life. Jing didn't leave the forest after he retired. He kept protecting it as a volunteer (志愿者).

 To make the book, the sisters go to India to visit their grandparents. Their grandmother tells many stories, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} . He is a quiet man. But he writes many stories.

 The sisters share the book with their friends. One of their friends says, "What a great book!{#blank#}5{#/blank#} ."

 Ding Yiteng received his early education in America where his mother was doing her medical research. At first, he couldn't 1 others at school and had few friends there. What's worse, when he and his 2 returned to China after the sixth grade, Ding couldn't be accepted by kids in China, either.

 Difficulties shaped(塑造) Ding's 3 to communicate with others, and loneliness caused his wish to express himself. In college, Ding became4 in theatre and spent most of his time acting. His 5 for Chinese opera became stronger while acting in Denmark in 2015. A picture of Peking Opera performer Mei Lanfang on the wall of the Danish theatre company made him feel 6 .

"I felt great need for Chinese culture and its greatness," Ding said. And then Ding7 all his time and energy studying Chinese dramas and showing traditional plays, like Tou O Yuan, in a new way.

"I understand the Western perspective(视角) of art and beauty, and I love Chinese culture," said Ding. "So 8 can't I be the one who integrates(融合) different cultures?"

 He 9 a new method of theatre acting and expression—"The Modern Format". It integrates traditional Chinese cultural elements with contemporary performance techniques(现代表演技巧).
