A challenge once became popular on social media. It started with a wild idea that someone posted online: On February 10th, the pull of gravity(重力) on the earth would change, allowing a broom(扫把) to stay balanced when you stood it upright(直立地). Within hours, people all over social media were taking the broom challenge. But later the challenge turned out to be a trick(骗局). Brooms actually can stand upright on any day of the year.
The challenge is harmless(无害的). But experts say it's just one example of a more serious problem on social media: misinformation. Every day, much misinformation is shared on social media. It comes in many forms: articles, pictures and videos.
Often people spread(传播) misinformation for fun or to get likes or shares. Experts say misinformation is most effective(有效的) when it makes people have strong feelings. For example, if video makes the seers laugh or feel sad or angry, they may want to share it. And the more the video has been shared or liked, the more likely the others are to believe it — and to share it without checking the facts.
With so much misinformation out there, it can be hard to tell what's true and what's not. You may not realize it, but you can play a part in stopping misinformation from spreading out of control. The best way is to be more careful of what you see online. If something seems really strange or really funny or too good to be true, don't believe it. Use reliable sources(可靠来源), like trusted news websites or .gov sites, to check what you're seeing. Then if you still can't tell if something is true, don't share it.

Artist Nikita Drachuk created tiny glass animals by using a very old technique (技艺). This piece of work is a good example. It shows the creature (生物) in vivid detail.
