Several years ago, I spent most of my time at a mental hospital (精神病院) in our town. I found much joy there. At first it was a little scary to be there, but I stayed on, because I had a reason for doing this.

I volunteered in a locked-up (封闭的) environment. To my surprise, I found that a friend of my parents' was a patient in this hospital. I knew, when I was a baby, this woman wanted to keep me because she had no children. I looked after this woman and showed my old photos to her. Finally, she was able to remember some old things, and she said to me one day, "Dear, you should not come here. But I wanted to bring something happy into this woman's life. I learned that because she had no family, she couldn't leave here and go home. So I brought her to my home twice and I still remembered the happy smile on her face.

I have never forgotten this volunteering experience. This woman later passed away. I can't see her anymore, but I'm happy that I have done something to make a difference in another person's life.

A train in Southwest China known for its own study rooms has caught people's much attention. The train No. 5609/5610, which runs between Chongqing and Xiushan County （县）, is a public﹣welfare （公益的） "slow train". 

In some carriages （车厢）, some seats have been replaced （代替） with desks and chairs close to the windows, turning the carriages into "study carriages" for passengers （乘客） in need. The Chinese characters "Yu Yue" appear on the train. "Yu" stands for Chongqing—Huaihua Railway and "Yue" means "reading". These two characters have the same pronunciation as "yu yue" meaning happiness in Chinese. Together, they mean "traveling and reading happily". 

Besides No. 5609/5610, other "slow trains" have also set up "study carriages", including No. 5619/5620 and No. 5633/5634 which run along the Chengdu—Kunming Railway. Students from nearby schools often take the train between school and home. The trains are their "school buses" and many passengers use their travel time to complete homework. 

On the train No. Z150, which runs between Guiyang and Beijing, a "book bar" carriage has been welcomed by college students. The train No. Z150 has become the first choice for most of the students along the line. The "book bar" has provided students with a lending library, free tea and other services for free. 

These small measures （措施） are a welcome comfort for passengers in need of a relaxing place to go on with their studies. 

Wu Yulu comes from a small village，and he loves inventing things. He is a common inventor. Since he was a child，he has been {#blank#}1{#/blank#} in making robots. He made his first minielectrical machine（小型电机） at the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} of 8. He worked on robots all day. Local villagers thought Wu Yulu was crazy. However，he never {#blank#}3{#/blank#}up his dream. He {#blank#}4{#/blank#} most of his time on robots with different skills and didn't care about other things. 

So far，he has created {#blank#}5{#/blank#} than sixty robots. Some do the dishes {#blank#}6{#/blank#}others pour water or serve food. "I will never stop making robots and I'm glad that I have kept on，" said Wu Yulu. "I was invited to an exhibition in Shijiazhuang with my robots {#blank#}7{#/blank#}2009. I am proud of {#blank#}8{#/blank#} I've invented，because my robots were on show with Shenzhou VIII. "

His son Wu Wangyang learnt from Wu Yulu，so he loves robots very much， {#blank#}9{#/blank#}. He is so crazy about robots that he always loses himself in {#blank#}10{#/blank#}inventions. In the future. he and his father Wu Yulu will surely invent more robots. 

One day, my father and I were in line to buy tickets for the circus（马戏表演）. And a family was standing in front of us.

The family had eight children. Their clothes were not expensive but clean. The children talked about the clowns(小丑), elephants, monkeys and other things excitedly. It was their first time to go to the circus.

The ticket lady asked the father how many tickets he wanted. He proudly answered, "I want eight children's tickets and two adults' tickets, so I can take my family to the circus. "

The ticket lady said the price. The man's wife lowered her head and there was no smile on the man's face. He quietly asked, "How much did you say?"

The ticket lady said the price again. The man didn't have enough money. How could he tell his eight kids the bad news? My dad put his hand into his pocket and pulled out a $20 bill and dropped(掉下) it on the ground. (In fact, we were not rich!) Then my dad said, "Excuse me, sir, this dropped out of your pocket. "

The man knew what was going on. He looked into my dad's eyes, held my dad's hand in his, and took the $20 bill. "Thank you, sir, thank you. This really means a lot to me and my family. "

My father and I went back home. We didn't go to see the circus that night, but we didn't care.
