Grandmother's Problem

    There was once a grandmother living in her grandson's house. The man loved  1 grandmother very much. However, she had some strange habits, so the man thought she needed medical help. Perhaps, he thought, it was time for her to 2 the rest of her life in a special hospital.

    "I'd like you to examine my grandmother," he told a doctor, "then let me know 3 you think she needs special care."

    "All right," the doctor said, "send her to me next Tuesday."Tuesday came and the old woman went to see the doctor. She 4 in front of him and he asked her lots of questions.  She answered them all, and the doctor was 5  .

    "There's 6 with this woman," he thought."I don't understand why her grandson has sent her to me. Perhaps he's the one  7  needs special care."

    He decided to ask her one last question. "Why do you think," he asked her, "your grandson wants you 8 special care?"

  "I like hamburgers," she said.  The doctor laughed."I like hamburgers, too!"

    "You 9 ?"the old woman said, "I'm so glad. Then you must come to my house and have a hamburger 10 me.  I've got boxes and boxes of them in my bedroom."

    As a police artist, Joe Brown draws pictures of suspects (嫌疑犯) when people tell him about the 1 of each suspect. Then, the police put the pictures in newspapers and on television to help 2 the suspects.

    His job is interesting but not 3, because different people describe the same person differently and sometimes many people don't have good 4, especially the old. "The suspect is of medium height and young. He has long straight brown hair and big eye," an old woman says. Another woman says, "He's tall and thin with blonde hair. He's about thirty years old."     Perhaps not many Chinese people know Wentworth Miller. But it must be1for them to name the character that he2in the TV series Prison Break (《越狱》) — Michael Scofield.

    Miller was born in England, and grew up in New York. He had always wanted to be an actor from a very young age. He said. "As a kid I3every play and musical that my parents would allow me to."

    As a graduate (毕业生) of Princeton University, Miller s stage time during school was4in singing, and he travelled around the world acting with the school's famous group.5Miller loved acting very much, after graduating from his school, he went to Los Angeles to work in a small company. The manager 6him a well-paid job. However, the dream of being an actor made him give up the job at last.

    Within the next few years, Miller worked for many people in the entertainment industry. He learned very fast and paid attention to TV shows. Soon he got the chance to play the character of Michael Scofield in the TV series Prison Break. The TV series was very7and Miller became world-famous.

People around the world work together to help our planet on Earth Day, April 22. But in fact, lots of people protect the Earth all year long. They are Earth heroes(英雄). And some kids do, too. We have four kids here, telling you that you can help even if you are a child.

Saving the frogs

John is from the USA. He always loves frogs. When John was 5, he learned their living places were in danger. So John started a group, For the Love of Frogs. They sold toy frogs to collect money to help frogs. John is now 10 and the group has more than $ 20,000 to protect frogs!

Growing right

Mandy lives in a city in India. She saw a wasteland near her house at 15. She turned it into a garden. She used native plants that lived or grew around her city. Native plants could make insects like butterflies and animals come to her area.

Mandy is now 18. She is teaching people about native plants." The way to reuse the wasteland is not just to plant any tree," she said." It is to make sure that you grow the right plants in the area."

Cleaning up

Zhang Min, 13, and Zhang Jie, 15, live in a city in China. To fight plastic pollution, they made a plan. They wanted to clean up plastic waste in the Pearl River.

Zhang Min and Zhang Jie put up posters at school to make people care more about plastic waste." You need to have people talk to one another," Zhang Jie said," Everyone can do something to help."

Hanfu has become popular again these years. A growing number of young people in China start to {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(wear) the traditional (传统的)Han Chinese clothing. The style (样式) has even interested some foreigners. One of them is Jack,a young man from Brazil.

 Jack lives in Xi'an. Two years ago the beautiful city and {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(become) an English teacher at a primary school. "After         seeing many people wearing Hanfu in the streets, I {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(show) great interest in it and wanted to try it on {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(I). My first taste of Hanfu was the Tang style. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}is fun to wear Tang-style Hanfu," said the young man. "Today, it is still my favorite Hanfu style." Every time he puts it on, he feels as if he has traveled back to old times.

Since then, Hanfu has helped Jack learn more {#blank#}6{#/blank#}China. In the past, the only thing he knew about the country was that it had {#blank#}7{#/blank#}long history and a rich culture. But now he knows more than that. He hopes {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(share) his feelings with friends all over the world, so he begins to make short videos(视频) of himself trying on Hanfu and posts them up online in foreign countries. These videos {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(quick) become popular on the Internet. He spreads (传播)Chinese culture {#blank#}10{#/blank#}his own way.

Now pets play an important part in our life. More and more people keep pets in their families.

I have a dog called Huanhuan. She is really cute and friendly. She always brings happiness to my family. We all love her very much and we take her as our family member. When we have breakfast, she likes to jump to my mother's legs to ask for the food she likes. When we watch TV at night, she likes to sit on the sofa with us. When I am sad, she can do some funny things to make me laugh. When I make fun of her, she plays with me happily. Every morning, she always goes to do morning exercises with us. Now we can't be without her.

 We get lots of happiness from Huanhuan, but keeping pets needs time and money. So if you want to have a pet, you must spend time looking after it and you should be patient with it!
