Do you know the Monkey Buffet Festival in Thailand? It is on the last Sunday of November. It is a great day for monkeys in Thailand. The festival has a history of 35years. People there think monkeys can bring good luck to them. So, to thank monkeys, they have this special festival. 

On that day every year, people put lots of fruit, vegetables, cakes and even drinks on the tables outside. They are all for monkeys. Many people come to see the monkeys on that day. 

During the festival, there are a lot of interesting activities about monkeys. Young people always dress like monkeys and they sing and dance and play some music on the street. 

Monkeys always live in groups. Most of them live in the trees. They are good at running and jumping. They eat fruit, vegetables, plants and birds' eggs. Monkeys are clever. Do you think so?

Lisa has always been overweight. She wanted to lose weight, not just because she wanted to 1 more beautiful and healthier, but also because it would make life easier. For example, it was 2 for Lisa to find ready-made clothes that would fit. She had to ask a tailor(裁缝) to make clothes that were large enough. At school, she needed a special chair which was bigger and 3 than the other chairs. If she went for a walk, she got tired very quickly. She was also unhappy about the way people 4 her sometimes. Soon after the play, Lisa became the 10 ! She did so well that everybody remembered the proud Queen. They stood around her and said"Congratulations!"to her. She even won the School Best Actress Award for her wonderful performance.

Now Lisa doesn't worry about being fat any more. She believes in the English saying"Every dog has its day. "

We can learn by listening to the teacher in class, but is this the only way for students to learn? Of course not. There is another way to learn. That is students can teach themselves. For example, if you can't remember things when you are doing homework, you can look through your book to find the answer. This is a way to teach yourself. And it is not a difficult thing. We can do this at any place and at any time.

How do you teach yourself? The first thing you must do is reading. Read something you like, or you have to read. The second is that you must ask yourself questions. A clever student is usually good at asking questions. The third is to answer the questions yourself by thinking hard, reading the text or other books, or asking other people. These are ways of teaching yourself. And if you do like this for a long time, I'm sure you'll succeed in your study.

Sometimes I really want to know if （是否） there is love between my parents. Every day they are very busy making money for our life. One day, my mother was sewing a quilt （缝被子）. "Mum, is there 1 between you and dad?" I asked. 

With surprise in 2 eyes, my mum stopped her work for a moment. Then she said, "Susan, look at this thread （线）. You can't see it easily, 3 it's really there. It makes the quilt strong. If life is a quilt, love should be a thread. Love is inside."

My Best Friend

Friends are very important in our lives. I have a good friend. 

When I was about 14, I had a friend who liked to tell me about my shortcomings (缺点). For example: I was very short, I talked too much, I was too proud and so on. I became so angry that I 1 stand(容忍) her at last. I ran to my 2 with tears in my eyes.
