Giraffes are beautiful, smart and friendly. They have long legs and necks (脖子). They are so tall that they can grow up over 5 meters (米). So how do they sleep or drink?

    You may think it's difficult for them to sleep, but they have no such problems because giraffes don't often stop for a sleep. Giraffes just need to sleep about thirty minutes a day. When they sleep, they don't always lie down (躺下). They usually sleep for minutes at a time, because it's difficult for them to get up again. And it's a great danger to sleep in the wild (荒野). But the giraffes in the zoo sleep for about 4-6 hours every day. They usually lie down when they sleep.

    Drinking water is a big problem for giraffes because their long necks are too "short". To drink water, they must spread (伸展) their front legs in a difficult way. And in this way, other animals like Africa's big cats can easily hunt (猎食) them. So they usually get most of their water from the trees and flowers. Giraffes don't need to drink water very often. They can even drink no water for months!

Imagine walking around a fashion store. You see a beautiful leather bag and want {#blank#}1{#/blank#} it. But in fact, it's made from recycled fruit and food waste. Would you still buy it?

Song Youyang, a 30-year-old material designer, works on developing products. She studied material design at a university in Germany and now lives in China. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} she was designing some new products, she couldn't find any suitable biomaterials (生物材料) to work with. So, she and her team decided to develop {#blank#}3{#/blank#} own new material from fruit waste.

The resulting material {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a lot like leather. It keeps the fruits' texture (质地), sense of touch and nice smell. Song and her team have used this new material to make fashion {#blank#}5{#/blank#}, such as bags, lamps and so on.

The designer thought these products would be {#blank#}6{#/blank#}. But in fact, not many customers have bought them. "Many people have their old ideas about biomaterials," said Song. "They think these materials are too expensive or of {#blank#}7{#/blank#} quality." As a result, it's quite difficult for these materials to become {#blank#}8{#/blank#} used. But Song still believes biomaterials will shape the {#blank#}9{#/blank#}. She and her team will {#blank#}10{#/blank#} working on new types of "green" materials and products.

Besides Song's team, many other fashion companies are {#blank#}11{#/blank#} working towards the same goal. They are showing us that fashion can be environmentally friendly.

Almost all animals need to sleep, but some have special ways.

The albatross（信天翁）is one of the largest flying birds. They fly in the sky for months without getting to the ground. They can fly about 22,000 kilometers around the Earth in 46 days! They sometimes even sleep when they are flying.

A flamingo（火烈鸟） can sleep when standing on one leg. The standing leg always stays in the water. The other le g stays close to its body. Its head lies on its back.

Horses often sleep when standing up. If a horse lies down, it needs a long time to get up. A standing horse can escape more quickly when it sees dangerous things. And horses only need about three hours of sleep a day.

Giraffes sleep the shortest time. They sleep about 30 minutes a day, and 5 minutes at a time. They lie down when they sleep. They put their heads on their bodies or on the ground. What an interesting way of sleeping!

American students have colourful school days. They usually get up at 7：00 a．m. from Monday to Friday. After breakfast they go to school by yellow school bus. They get to school at about half past eight. Students have seven classes in junior high school, four in the morning and three in the afternoon.

Nowadays, many people visit museums. They offer great chances for people {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(learn) about different cultures as well as the development of history. 

At the same time, more and more popular design(设计) museums are opened today. Unlike most museums, they show our daily objects, such as fridges {#blank#}2{#/blank#} washing machines. The advantage of design museums is that they are places where people feel familiar with the exhibits. Unlike other museum {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(visitor), people seldom feel afraid or lost when they visit the design museums. This is partly because design museums {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(clear) show how and why mass(大批的) products work and look as they do. 

So far, several new design museums {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(open) their doors. Each has tried to satisfy the public's growing interest {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the field with new ideas. 

London's Design Museum, for example, shows {#blank#}7{#/blank#} collection of mass-produced objects. {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(thousand) of people visit it every year. The choices open to design museums become {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(wide) than ever before. People may also sense the humorous part of our society while {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(walk) around such an interesting museum.
