On September 13th, I woke up in the best mood. It was a late start, so I got to sleep in. Not only did I get my full eight hours of sleep, but an additional two more hours as well. I got ready, danced in my room to my favorite music while I picked out my clothes, made my lunch, and was on my way to school. I arrived at 9: 50 a. m. Little did I know, in the next 20 minutes, my life would change forever. As I got out of my classroom, there he was, holding the gun.

    Although everything happened so fast, in a matter of about 4 minutes, I remember it clearly. I remember every face I saw, and I remember every sound I heard. I remember the fear and the panic of the unknown. And lastly, I remember running. Running for my life. I ran down the stairs, out of the school's front doors, and down the street to the primary school. I remember looking down at my feet. As I looked down I thought to myself, "How am I running so fast?"

    I finally made it to a safe classroom, and 20 other students and I settled in for lockdown. We stayed close to one another and cried. It felt as though the tears going down our faces would never stop. We passed our phones around to text our loved ones that we were safe and that there was a school shooter, shots were fired, and 4 students were injured thus far.

    The lockdown lasted about 30 minutes, even though it felt like forever. Our headmaster made his way to our room and explained that the shooter had been caught and we were all going to make our way to the football field.

    Mary is from the USA. She has two brothers. Now her family are in China. Her father, Mr. Peterson teaches English in Xihu Middle School. And her mother works in the same school. She teaches English, too. Mary goes to school in her father's car with her mother every day.

    Mary is a nice girl student. She can speak a little Chinese. She is very lovely, so she has many Chinese friends. She teaches them English, and they teach her Chinese. Her two brothers are twins. One is Bob, the other is Bill. They look the same. They are only five. So their grandparents look after （照顾） them at home. Mrs. Peterson has many toys for the twin brothers. Bob likes to play with toy cars, but Bill likes to play with teddy bears. They are happy every day.

    One morning, a hungry fox (狐狸) sees a chicken. He thinks, "Great! This is my breakfast." He comes up to the chicken and says, "Good morning, Miss Chicken. I hear you can sing very well. Can you sing a song for me?" The chicken is happy to hear that. She closes her eyes and begins to sing. The fox sees that and catches her in his mouth and takes her away. The farmers on the farm see the fox. They shout, "Look! Look! The fox is taking the chicken away." The chicken says to the fox, "Mr Fox, can you hear? The people say you are taking their chicken away. Tell them I am yours, not theirs." The fox opens his mouth and says, "Miss Chicken is mine, not yours." Just then the chicken runs away from the fox and flies into the tree.

Prince Caspian's parents died. He lived with his uncle, Miraz, the King of Narnia and his aunt. Though he had wonderful toys, he liked best the last hour of the day when the toys had all been put away and Nurse would tell him stories.

He didn't care much for his uncle and aunt, but about twice a week his uncle would ask him to come and have a walk together.

One day, while they were doing this, the King said, "Well, boy, we must soon teach you to ride and use a sword. You know we have no children, so it looks as if you might have to be King when I'm gone. How shall you like that, eh?"

"I don't know, Uncle," said Caspian. "What do you wish?" asked the King. "I wish-I wish—I wish I could have lived in the Old Days," said Caspian.

Up till now the King had been talking in a tiresome way, which made it quite clear that he wasn't really interested in what they were saying, but he suddenly gave Caspian a sharp(锐利的) look.

"Eh? What's that?" he said. "What old days?"

"Oh, don't you know, Uncle?" said Caspian. "Once there was a White Witch(女巫) and she made herself Queen of the whole country. And she made it so that it was always winter. And then two boys and two girls came from somewhere and killed the Witch and they were made Kings and Queens of Narnia. And so they ruled for a long time and everyone had a lovely time, and it was all because of Aslan."

"Who's she?" said the King. If Caspian had been a little older, the tone(语气) of his uncle's voice would have warned him it would be wiser to shut up. But he talked on...

When I was asked a question who touched my life most, I would always say it was my mother. I believe in my mother. My belief began when I was just a kid. I 1 becoming a doctor. 

My mother was a waitress. Through her work, she learned that successful people spent a lot more time reading than they2 watching television. She ordered that my brother and I3 only watch two to three pre-selected(预选的) TV programs during the week. With our free time, we had to read two books each from the Detroit Public Library and 4 her written book reports. She would mark them up with check marks. Years later we realized her marks were a trick. My mother received no education. When I entered high school I was an A-student, 5 not for long. I wanted the fancy clothes. I wanted to6 the guys. I went from being an A-student to a B-student to a C-student. One night my mother came home from finishing her various jobs and I talked about 7 enough expensive Italian knit shirts. She said, "Okay, I'll give you all the money I make this week sweeping floors and cleaning bathrooms, and you can buy the family food and pay the bills. 8 everything left over, you can have all the Italian knit shirts you want. " I was very9 with that plan but once I went through spending the money, there was 10 left. I realized my mother was a financial genius(财务天才) to be able to11 our heads and any kind of food on the table. I also realized that immediate satisfaction wasn't going to get me 12 . Success required intellectual(智力的) preparation. I went back to my studies and became an A-student again, and gradually I 13 my dream and I became a doctor. 

My story is really my mother's story—a woman with no 14 education or property(财产) who used her position as a parent to change the lives of many people around the world. There is15 job more important than parenting. This is what I believe.
