As I held my father's hands one night, I couldn't help but notice their calluses(老茧）and roughness. His hands tell the story of his life as a 1 , including all his struggles.

    One summer, I remember, a drought (旱灾）hit Ontario,turning it into a 2 desert.On one og those hot mornings I was picking sweet corn with my dad to fill the last 3 from the grocery store.Fifty dozen was all we needed, which normally took twenty minutes. That morning, however, the process didn't 4 quickly. After forty minutes of aimlessly walking in the field, we still needed twenty dozen. I was completely frustrated and 5 . Dropping the basket heavily, I declared, "If the store wants its last twenty dozen, they can pick it themselves.     One day Teensy went with the elephants to have lunch.They stopped in front of some trees and found their favourite green leaves.Teensy raised her nose and tried again and again.but  she couldn't 2the branches.Not even the low ones!

    "You're right.Little or big，you should always be10 of who you are."said the mouse.

    Homeless(无家可归) is everywhere. Even in France, one of the1countries in the world, thousands of people live in the streets or parks.

    Mr. Muller and his wife Rita have spent eleven years making2for the homeless of Paris, France's capital. They first3one hot summer. When most Frenchmen were4on holiday. The Mullets stayed at home, made sandwiches. 5a table in the street and gave food to the homeless.

    The Mullers soon found that food and clothing weren't6. “What these people also need is warmth and7." says Rita. They gave their phone number to the street people and told them to phone8. They also told that their home was always9to anyone who needed help.

    The Mullers were soon10all their time and money, so Mr. Muller visited food and clothing companies to11more help. Today, over thirty companies give away food and other things to them. And more volunteers join them, too.

    Before Father's Day, I found my father was unhappy because he was out of work. I decided to cheer him up by buying him a special Father's Day gift.

    One day after school I1to the Agins which was known for fashions and styles. I told the Agins salesperson that I was looking for a Father's Day present.

    "Do you think he'd like a2?" she asked. "Yes, I think he might, "I told her.

    She 3 a Swiss watch and I told her that he would like it.

    "How much money do you have?" she asked.

    "4dollars, "I replied.

    "You're so lucky!" she told me." It's only $11.You still have $l for the 5." She packed the watch and I thanked for my business, and I rode off home with the gift under my arm.

    When my father opened the gift, he asked 6, "Where did you get it?"

    "I bought it at the Agins. It cost me $11, "I said. My father was shocked into silence.

    Many years later, I did learn that the watch was worth several hundred dollars, 7I appreciated(感激)how wonderful the Agins sales-person had been to me. I always felt8that I never had a chance to thank her.

    "What really amazes me to this day...…my daughter, "my father said." Letting you have the watch for 11 dollars was 9 enough. But the fact that she let you leave the shop with a dollar for the card was a touch (触动)of 10.I'll never forget it."

Mrs Brown is from London, England. But she likes working in China. She says all her students work very hard( 努力地) and they are very friendly. She loves them very much. And the students love her, too. 

Mrs Brown has a son and a daughter. Her son's name is Jack. He is ten. Her daughter's name is Sue. She is seven years old. They study in China. They have classes from Monday to Friday. They like their school very much. On Saturday and Sunday, they often go shopping or play sports. Sometimes they help their mother with some housework.
