Three years ago, a story happened in Japan. At that time Mike and Ben were taking a holiday on the beach. The two good friends had a fight. Mike hit Ben on the face. Ben was hurt but he said nothing. He only wrote in the sand, "Today my best friend hit me on the face."

After that, they took a taxi back to their hotel. After dinner, Ben started to read in bed. Mike went for a walk in the park near the hotel. Suddenly, an earthquake happened. The small hotel fell down and Ben was under the hotel. Mike saved him. After Ben was out of danger, he wrote on a stone, "Today my best friend saved my life."

Mike asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now you write on a stone. Why?" Ben answered, "When someone hurts us, we should write it down in the sand, and then the wind can blow it away. When someone helps us, we must carve (雕刻) it in the stone, then the wind can't blow it away."

One afternoon, I went to pick up my mother from work. I got there a little early, so I stopped my car by a small park and waited for her in the car. 

As I looked outside the car window, I saw a little boy, around two years old, running freely on the grass as his mother watched him from a short distance. The boy had a big smile on his face as if he had just been set free after being indoors for too long. He would then fall to the grass, get up, without even looking back at his mother, run as fast as he could, again, still with a smile on his face, as if nothing had happened. 

At that moment, I thought to myself "Why aren't adults this way? "Most adults, when they fall down, make a deal of it and don't even make a second attempt (尝试). They would be so embarrassed that they would not ty again if someone saw them fall. Or, because they fall, they would find a good excuse for themselves that they are not fit for it. They would end up too afraid to attempt again for fear of failure. 

However, with kids, when they fall down, they don't consider their falling as a failure. Instead, they treat it as a learning experience. They try again and again until they succeed. The answer must be that they have not connected "falling down" with the word "failure". As a result, they are not discouraged in any way. Besides, they probably think to themselves that it is quite okay to fall down and it is not wrong to do so. In other words, they allow themselves to make mistakes, so they remain energeti C. 

I was deeply impressed by the boy's persistence and the manner in which he did. 

Respecting teachers has always been a tradition in China. Once there was a man who wanted to learn from a famous

philosopher(哲学家),.One day, he and his schoolmates had different opinions on a question. To get a1 answer, he went to visit the philosopher. In front of the door of the philosopher's house,2 the guarding kid told him that the philosopher was meditating(冥想)in his room and asked the man to go back. He 3 to leave, so the little boy left him alone and went in.

After a while, it began to snow4 . The little boy came out again and reminded the man that the philosopher might spend the whole afternoon meditating. He invited the man to,5 himself in the house to avoid the wind and snow. But the man kept standing in the snow and waiting outside in order that he could ask the philosopher's 6 on the question.

As soon as the philosopher finished meditating, the boy reported that the man was waiting outside. When 7 this. the philosopher came out to see the man. When the door was opened, everyone was 8 . The snow was more than a foot deep, but the man stood still9 moving his feet, "* Young man, why are you so silly? You could have come again someday! " The philosopher took the man to the room at once.

"As a student… if l want to learn from the teacher… l should ... of course…respectfully wait outside.." said the man, shaking with cold.

The philosopher was very happy and accepted the man as his student because of his politeness and effort to learn. He taught the man all his philosophical thoughts, That made a big,10 to the man's life. Later, the man really learned a lot and made great contributions (贡献)to his country.

Tommy loved ice cream. It was his favorite dessert. His parents let him have a small dish each night after dinner, if he ate all of his vegetables. Tommy loved eating ice cream at home. He always tried a new kind of ice cream each time. When he turned eight, he had a checkup at the doctor's office. Dr. Katz said, "It's fine to have a little ice cream once in a while, but not every night."

That night at supper, Tommy ate all his vegetables. But there was no ice cream for dessert. Instead, Mom came up with a new rule.

"If we want to eat ice cream, we'll have to earn it by walking to the ice cream stand," she said. Tommy would like to give it a try, so they decided to take their walk on Saturday afternoon. According to the map, the ice cream stand was a mile away.

Saturday was a sunny day. The sun was so bright that he had to almost close his eyes. Tommy asked, "How much farther is it?" Mom checked the map on her phone and then said, "We're not even halfway yet. Do you want to turn around?" Tommy did want to turn around, but he also wanted ice cream. Walking was the only way to get it.

The sun beat down so strongly that even Mom was sweating （流汗）. Tommy's legs felt heavy. He wanted to sit down, but there were no chairs. He wanted to give up. He looked up to tell Mom he was ready to turn around. But when he did, he could see the purple flag at the top of the ice cream stand. They were almost there! Tommy started to walk faster. He could almost taste the cool, creamy ice cream already. It was a long walk, but it was certainly worth the effort.

Zhi Nong was a photographer who was born in a small town in Yunnan Province. When he was young, he moved to Kunming with his mother. Feeling like a caged (笼中的) bird in the big city, he was bored with the busy and noisy city life and wanted to close to the nature.

His chance soon came. In 1983, be helped make a movie about birds. What he did before led him to take photos of flying birds.

In the 1980s, the Internet was not that popular in China and cameras were expensive. He borrowed a camera and began to study how to use it. During that time, the library have favourite place where he first read some and began to study how to use it. During that time, the library became his favourite place where be first read some magazines about nature. It opened a door to nature for him.

In 1992, a research programme was set up to protect a kind of unusual monkeys which only live in China. Usually, the home of these monkeys has half-a-year-long winters. It brought a lot of difficulties to Zhi Nong's work, but he never stopped. "I didn't see the monkeys in the wild until I went into the mountains the third time." said Zhi Nong. He went into the snow mountains six times just to get great photographs of the monkeys.

Three years later, his works won international prizes. People around the world began to notice the protection of wild animals in China. And he is the first Chinese winner of the World Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

In order to call up (号召) more people to protect wildlife with cameras, he started "China Wildlife Photography Training Camp". He hopes that more young people will join in for the nature protection.
