After a very meaningful conversation with my dad about the old days, we came up with an object that we both remembered clearly. It was my first bicycle. My mind told me I got it when I was seven, who was cheated to ride it for fifty yards alone the first time I tried!

My dad put together all the small pieces of the bicycle from a beautiful material that he called, "Your own car." Of course I knew he had some magical ability, but I didn't think he could make such an awesome object. He added the seat and the pedals (脚踏板) so that I would not have any problems. My dad recalled the bicycle was the smallest he could find while I remember how huge it was. I was so afraid of it and there was no way that I was going to control that monster-sized material. The bicycle was left in my backyard as a decoration for a month because I refused to ride it. Honestly, I was scared to try it.

After a month, my dad gave me a lecture to teach me what being a man was all about. I was finally determined to try it. My dad was proud of me and I felt very manly. He and I went to the park to see what we could do there. The park was empty when we arrived. I had no doubt that my dad told everybody not to be there because we had to use it. I felt sorry for other people, but I was proud to have such an capable person as my dad. We found a smooth and open space. My dad was holding the back part of the seat to make sure I didn't fell. He promised me that I was not going to fall because he would be running right behind, holding the bicycle.

注意:1. 续写词数应为 150 左右:2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

I started to pedal and the bicycle moved.

……

I turned around and found my dad was not behind.

Jenny was the only child in her home. She had a quarrel with her mother that afternoon and she ran out of the house angrily. She couldn't help weeping sorrowfully when she thought of the scolding from her mother. Having wandered aimlessly in the street for hours, she felt a little hungry and wished for something to eat, but it was not possible for her, since she had nothing with her. She stood beside a stand for a while, watching the middle-aged seller busy doing his business. However, with no money in hand, she sighed and had to leave.
The seller behind the stand noticed the young girl and asked, "Hey, girl, you want to have the noodles?"
"Oh, yes...but I don't have money on me…" she replied.
"That's nothing. I'll treat you today," said the man. "Come in."
The seller brought her a bowl of noodles, whose smell was so attractive. As she was eating, Jenny cried silently.
"What is it?" asked the man kindly.
"Nothing, actually I was just touched by your kindness!" said Jenny as she wiped her tears. "Even a stranger on the street will give me a bowl of noodles, while my mother drove me out of the house. She showed no care for me. She is so merciless compared to a stranger!!"
Hearing the words, the seller smiled, "Girl, do you really think so? I only gave you a bowl of noodles and you thanked me a lot. But it is your mother who has raised you since you were a baby. Can you number the times she cooked for you? Have you expressed your gratitude to her?"
Jenny sat there, speechless and numb with shock; she remembered mother's familiar face and weathered hands. "Why did I not think of that? A bowl of noodles from a stranger made me feel indebted, but I have never thanked my mum for what she has done for me."
On the way home, Jenny made up her mind to make an apology to her mother for her rudeness as soon as she arrived home.

However, there was hardly any chance that Carol's family moved to the city as they had everything in the village.

One day, Carol fell asleep during the early noon and she had a sound sleep. Of course, she had a strange dream. She saw her grandmother in her dream as a fairy and her deceased grandmother granted her a wish. Carol requested her that she should love to enjoy the city life as she always desired.

Grandmother understood the desire of Carol, but still wanted to convince her that the peaceful village life is better than the city life.

She told Carol, "Baby, you cannot have access to fresh fruits and vegetables from plants as you have at your home. You cannot breathe fresh air. You cannot play with animals. You can hardly find any trees. You will not find peace as you see here! Do you still want to go to the city?"

Without hearing the concerns, Carol asked her grandmother to grant the wish. Grandmother granted her wish, but with a condition. Carol was told that she would only have 6 hours to spend in the city. Later, she would return to the village. Carol agreed.

Milo is a rescue dog, adopted by twenty-year-old Mary Swift. But the dog is also a rescuer.

One morning in November 2021, Swift was ready to go jogging as usual, with Milo following her happily. To her surprise, as soon as she opened the front door, Milo took off running towards the gate quickly. It was very unusual. He always ran after his master.

Outside the gate, Milo was looking around the neighborhood, looking a little alert. Suddenly, he ran straightly to the house across the street, barking loudly and sniffing (嗅) around. He seemed unsatisfied with this house. He quickly ran to the one next door. He stopped there and turned to Swift, barking more loudly, with his tail swinging crazily. Swift followed him, shouting sharply "Stop, Milo!" Some passing neighbors were looking disapprovingly (不满地) at them.

Swift was kind of embarrassed. Not everyone wanted a strange dog on their property and liked hearing a dog's barks in the quiet morning. She tried to get Milo to go back, but Milo seemed not to follow the master's order. He started to scratch (抓) on the front door. Swift wondered, "Why is he trying to break into the house?" She looked at the house, which belonged to Sherry Starr, who was 85 years old and seldom walked out of her house. It was the time for her to trim (修剪) her bushes in the garden. Somehow, she wasn't there that day.

Although Swift was a little doubtful, she still tried to drag Milo away. But at this time she could hear a sound coming through an open upstairs window.

注意:1.续写词数应为80左右;2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

I was confident at the audition (试演) for the school play and felt pleased to get a role. It just felt good to be in the play, even if I had only four or five lines. I worked hard at perfecting those lines. I repeated them over and over again. I put in the emphases and intonations (语调) that my drama teacher had suggested and, because I was on stage much longer than for just four or five lines, I had many actions to rehearse (排练) and perform. "Do them in front of a mirror," my drama teacher had advised me. "Watch how you look; practice and rehearse as often as you can." I did just that. I worked and worked at it. It was fun and exciting rehearsing.

Then finally the big night came. Suddenly, things felt different. The theater was full of people. As I dressed, I could hear the chatting and noises of the audience. I looked around at the other more experienced actors and saw that their previous confidence seemed to have disappeared. Had they got their makeup right? Was the costume done up correctly? What if they forgot their lines? The more people talked about their anxiety, the more nervous everyone became. The worries spread from person to another—like a baton (接力棒) being passed in a relay race—until the whole of the backstage area seemed to be full of tension and worry.

I was on stage early, at first performing my non-spoken role in the background with several other guys around the same age. When, suddenly, I heard my cue (出场提示), the lights were bright in my eyes, I couldn't see the audience but knew there were hundreds of people out there all watching me. The words that had flowed so easily when I stood in front of a mirror didn't want to come, and when they did I found myself hurrying into them. I tried to slow down my thoughts and my words.

注意:

1)续写词数应150左右;

2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

But I suddenly realized I had missed a sentence.

I bowed to the audience excitedly and went back to my drama teacher.
